Chapter 390: the golden card
“Good day, Mr. Atlas Bennet. My name is Benjamin Vitt from the CEO’s office at Pierson Corporation.”
Zoren’s orders this morning were a bit surprising, but meeting Penny’s family was an exciting experience for Benjamin.
Benjamin politely offered Atlas a kind smile before his eyes shifted to the people on the couch. “You must be Chairman Bennet,” he said, turning to face the chairman as a sign of courtesy. “Our visit must have been a surprise. We appreciate you seeing us on such short notice.”
The chairman nodded, maintaining a strong front. “It’s a visit from Pierson Corporation,” he said sternly. ‘He mentioned he’s from the CEO’s office and is the CEO’s right-hand man. Why would the head of the Pierson Family send his right hand here?’
Just thinking about the reasons made the chairman’s head ache. Whoever Atlas had offended was likely not just any Pierson Family member. What a headache! Although Benjamin’s tone was polite and friendly, the chairman knew all too well that such an approach often masked deeper intentions. Especially with a family like the Piersons, this was merely a brief display of diplomacy.
Benjamin smiled before his eyes landed on Sven. Before he could speak, Sven straightened his back and proudly introduced himself.
“Good day, Mr. Vitt. I am Sven Bennet, the general manager of Global Prime Logistics.” Sven took a step forward and kindly offered his hand to Benjamin. “If you need anything, you can always reach out to me.”
Benjamin raised his brows, slightly confused. A handshake usually signified a done deal between businessmen. However, in the world they operated in, handshakes carried various meanings and were as significant as making a declaration.
Sven’s smile stiffened as Benjamin simply glanced at his hand and smiled without taking it.
As for Atlas, he glanced at this opportunist, who seemed to have no idea what he was doing. Ignoring him, Atlas turned his attention back to Benjamin.
“Mr. Vitt, may I ask what brings the assistant of the head of the Pierson Family to visit me?” As always, Atlas didn’t mince words.
The chairman and Sven looked at Benjamin in anticipation—one hoping Benjamin’s next words weren’t about a lawsuit or a warning, the other holding his breath in excitement.
Benjamin beamed when Atlas asked. “Mr. Atlas Bennet, I’m here because my boss asked me to relay a message.”
With that, Benjamin gestured to one of the staff members who had accompanied them. The staff member was holding a small box, like an offering, and handed it to Atlas.
Glancing at the small chest in the other person’s hand, Atlas furrowed his brows. “What’s this?” he asked as he carefully opened the chest, revealing an envelope inside.
The chairman also furrowed his brows, wondering what was inside the small chest. It was too small for legal documents, yet too large for a mere gift.
Sven, on the other hand, stretched his neck to peek. All he saw was an envelope inside. When Atlas took it out, he confirmed it was an envelope.
“What is this?” Atlas asked again, casting Benjamin a quick look.
Benjamin maintained his bright smile as he said, “You’ll know once you open it, Mr. Bennet.”
“I see.” Atlas shrugged indifferently. “I didn’t know the head of Pierson Corporation enjoyed surprises.”
“Mr. Bennet, trust me, my boss hates surprises more than anything. However, this is a tradition we must follow.”
“A tradition?” the chairman furrowed his brows while Sven squinted his eyes.
“Yes.” Benjamin shifted his attention to the elderly man and the other young man.
The chairman and Sven then slowly turned their eyes to Atlas, only to see a golden invitation card inside. Deep lines appeared between their brows as both their hearts suddenly began to race.
“A golden invitation card?” Sven blurted out, having heard many stories about the Pierson Family’s golden card.
Every year, Pierson Corporation holds its annual celebration. Aside from the grandeur of the event, it’s known for its attention to detail and the family’s traditions.
For instance, the golden invitation card.
It’s said that the invitations sent out every year to this event come in a few different colors: orange, blue, green, red, and gold. These colors signify a hierarchy, a status symbol. As a result, the color of the invitation became something the elite could brag about to their peers.
Being invited to this event was already a huge honor. But receiving a green invitation meant something special. Those who received red invitations were almost on the same level as the Pierson Family or were simply close to the family.
It’s said that the golden card was very rare, and the last time it appeared at the Pierson annual party was decades ago. But now, what Atlas was holding was a shiny golden invitation!

The chairman, who hadn’t planned to stand, rose from his seat. He stared at the card with wide eyes, his mouth falling open. The same was true for Sven, who could only gape at the shiny golden invitation card.
Even Allen, on the sidelines, had his mouth wide open. ‘Since when did my boss… boss! This is why I never doubted you! I knew you were hiding something from me!’
“That card…” Sven’s voice faltered as he looked at Benjamin with a pale face.
Benjamin smiled in satisfaction, thinking, ‘Heh. Of course, they should know what this card means! It’s my boss’s declaration of loyalty and protection!’
Atlas, who had heard of this legendary card, stared at it with a furrowed brow. Snapping his eyes up at Benjamin again, he asked, “Mr. Vitt, this card is…?”
“It’s a personal invitation from the CEO of Pierson Corporation and the head of the Pierson Family, Zoren Pierson,” Benjamin relayed, looking at Atlas sincerely. “He’s sending out one golden invitation this year for the first time since he took over the business, and he sincerely hopes to see you there, Mr. Bennet.”
Upon hearing this, the jaws of the chairman, Sven, and even Allen hit the floor. As for Atlas, the lines between his brows deepened for another reason.
“Did you just say, Zoren Pierson?” he asked, and Benjamin nodded. “Does the Pierson Family have two Zorens?”
Benjamin tilted his head slightly. “There’s only one Zoren Pierson in the Pierson Family, Mr. Bennet, and he is currently the head of the family. He wants you to be his special guest at the annual celebration of Pierson Corporation.”
“…” Unlike the others who were shocked, Atlas was rendered speechless as he finally realized why Penny’s date last weekend had sounded so familiar.
