Chapter 422: Yey, cheat day!
“Ouch!” Penny yelped as she hit the ground hard, landing violently on the lawn. She winced, crumpled up on the grass, and started questioning her life choices. “Ouch… ouch… that was a freaking bad fall.”

She lay there for a moment, lamenting her situation until she managed to recover. It was good that her mind, body, and soul had been well-trained in prison. After all, she used to get beaten up pretty badly when she was what they called “fresh meat.”

Even though Penny had already been trained before as a free woman, she initially tried not to fight back, thinking the beatings would eventually stop. She quickly learned it didn’t work like that when she was nearly killed in her sleep. That’s when she learned to fight back. Still, she wasn’t immortal, and she didn’t have superpowers to make her immune to the pain and injuries from all the blows and cuts she received in the fights.

“Ouch…” she whispered, this time more calmly, as she lay on the grass. She stared up at the canopy above her and smiled. “I’m fine now!”

Penny was about to jump up when she heard men’s voices nearby. Immediately, she rolled onto her stomach and crawled backward until she was hidden behind the bushes.

“Huh?” She scrunched up her nose as a leaf brushed against her nostrils. “What the heck?”

She swatted the leaf away, drawing her head back. “Since when did they have plants here?”

At least she had a place to hide.

Penny cautiously peeked over the bush, spotting some uniformed men smoking and talking.

“Who are they?” she murmured, furrowing her brows. “Did they bribe the officers to get in?”

Having visitors in that hell wasn’t unusual, and Penny knew that all too well. She had seen plenty of them before. Glancing around at her surroundings, she took in the vast expanse and the mansion standing over the distance.

“Huh?” She blinked, then blinked harder. When she opened her eyes again, her mind tried to correct what she was seeing.

The mansion now looked like a prison. The guest houses scattered around appeared like different prison departments. Even the greenhouse had transformed in her mind’s eye into a fortified building. Slowly, everything morphed into how she remembered the state prison.

“Ahh…” she nodded to herself. “Okay. It’s just my eyes.”

Penny lingered in her spot until she noticed the guards—those same guards she had sent to Zoren—begin to move. Peeking again, she realized they weren’t leaving; they were helping someone else. A deep frown formed as she stared at them.

“They’re dragging someone…” she whispered, squinting as she focused on the men hauling an unconscious man by the shoulders.

His knees dragged along the ground, and even though he was wearing denim pants, that had to hurt.

“Good thing he’s unconscious…” she muttered, raising an eyebrow as she noticed the man’s frizzy hair. She squinted harder to get a better look at his profile when one of the uniformed men stepped aside.

Nathaniel.

A murderous glint flickered in Penny’s eyes. She ran her tongue along the inside of her cheek, and a vicious smirk curled her lips, making her appear sinister.

“I finally found you,” she whispered darkly. “Must be my lucky night.”

Surely, the heavens were on her side, presenting the one person she most wanted to see right in front of her. Penny licked her lips, the pent-up anger in her heart bubbling over with excitement. Before even laying a hand on him, she was already imagining a hundred ways to make him suffer.

Even a thousand cuts wouldn’t be enough to quench her wrath.

That man was the reason for everything.

Now, it was time for an eye for an eye.

Penny watched as the men dragged him into the main residence, smirking to herself. Although the area was swarming with people, she could find a way to get inside. All she had to do was avoid getting caught—although, if she did, she wouldn’t mind a fight.

She had no problem with that.

“So, they’re going to keep that fool in there.” Penny slowly stood up, lingering in the dark shadows of the residence. “Very well. Time to break some…”

She trailed off when she sensed something big coming her way. Turning her head, all she saw was a massive black figure leaping toward her.

Thud!

Once again, Penny found herself rolling on the ground.

“Ack—!” she gasped, wincing under the impossible weight that fell on her. It felt as though an entire house had collapsed on top of her. The pain, however, quickly subsided as Renny started licking her face.

Penny winced slightly but peeked up at the black panther nudging and licking her cheeks.

“Hehe,” she chuckled, but her laughter soon turned into giddy giggles. “Hey, hey! Wait—ouch—stop!”

Sensing the urgency in her voice, Renny stepped back. He hadn’t realized he was stepping on her chest while showering her with affection.

“Aish… goodness!” Penny sat up, facing the massive panther before her. She blinked a couple of times, staring into Renny’s eyes, which mirrored her own reflection.

When the realization of what it was struck her, her breathing slowed, her eyes widened, and her mouth fell open. Renny tilted his head to the side, wondering why his mother looked so shocked. A second later, he understood that he had made a wrong conclusion.

After a beat, the look of surprise on Penny’s face was replaced with an excited grin.

“A kitty!” she squealed, overjoyed. “So cute~!”

Without fear, Penny spread her arms wide and hugged Renny. It was as if she were hugging a small kitten, even though Renny could easily bite her head off—not that he would, not to his beloved mother.

“Awww, so cute, so cute~ you’re so cute~ I want to bite you~” Penny cooed, unable to contain her excitement while Renny happily let her shower him with affection. She hugged him tightly, as if Renny’s presence had healed her wounded heart.

When Penny finally let go, she grinned from ear to ear.

“Hey,” she called out but paused, realizing she didn’t know his name. So, she made one up. “Blacky, do you want to come with me?”

Renny stared at her quietly, watching as she pointed in a direction.

“I need to go there,” she giggled. “Come with me. I’ll teach you how to have fun!”

Renny: “Yay! Cheat day!”
