Chapter 477: Make sure Zoren Pierson doesn’t hear a word.
“Kyah!!!”
Amidst the cheering, chanting, and the voices of Slater and the host over the microphone, Penny’s scream went unnoticed. It was only when chaos erupted and blood was spilled that the other noises ceased.
The piercing sound of the microphone hitting the floor echoed throughout the mall, causing everyone to wince or cover their ears. But once the screeching feedback faded, the only sound they heard was the drip of blood hitting the stage.
“Slater!” someone from the audience gasped, her face paling.
A pin-drop silence took over as the crowd tried to process what had just occurred. Moments ago, they had been cheering and laughing as Slater and the host bantered with the audience. Some were even chanting for one last song before he left. After all, Slater was only there as a guest and he was politely trying to leave, for he didn’t want to take up the time for other artists to perform.
But suddenly, a figure had leaped onto the stage, brandishing a knife. Everything happened so quickly that no one was fast enough to catch up… or at least, none of them except one person. The only thing they knew was when the host stumbled back in shock, subsequently falling on his bottom while Slater stood frozen.
All eyes were fixed on the two new figures on stage.
The man, clad in a black jacket, had his lower face obscured by a mask, with large sunglasses and a cap completing his disguise. In his hand was a knife, pointed directly at Slater. The other figure was a woman.
Unlike the man, who was nearly covered from head to toe, the woman’s fierce expression was on full display. Her eyes blazed, unfazed by the blood trickling from her hand, which she had used to stop the knife barehanded.
“Pen…” Slater’s voice trembled as he stared at his sister’s back, his eyes wide with shock. His gaze shifted downward to the blood steadily dripping onto the stage.
“What…” Slater felt his knees wobble as realization dawned on him. “… is going on?”
James, who was standing outside the stage, furrowed his brows. He glanced at the spot where Penny stood, completely baffled by how she got from here to there in such a short time. Even the bodyguards, who were near the area where the attacker came from, didn’t reach the man on time, but Penny did. Thankfully.
“You—!” The attacker tried to pull the knife away, but Penny didn’t flinch. When the man locked eyes with her, a shudder ran through him.
She was going to kill him. That much was clear in her eyes.
Gripped by instinctive fear, the man released the knife and tried to flee. But as he turned, Penny lunged, slamming into him and sending them both tumbling off the stage. In one swift motion, she twisted his arm behind his back.
The snap of his shoulder was unmistakable, but Penny didn’t care. She pressed his hand further into his back, her blood-soaked grip staining both him and herself.
“Hey!” she shouted at a nearby bodyguard, pinning the man to the ground with her knee. “What are you doing?!”
Her sharp command jolted everyone back to reality. The bouncers, who had failed to catch the attacker in time, rushed over. While the audience remained in stunned silence, the event staff sprang into action. Some tried to shield the scene and calm the crowd, while others escorted the host and crew backstage.
Meanwhile, Slater and James hurried toward Penny.
“Penny!” Slater grabbed her shoulders and turned her around as the bodyguards subdued the attacker. His shaky eyes darted to her hand, and without thinking, he reached for it. The moment he saw the deep cut across her palm, his face twisted in anguish.
“Slater!” James arrived breathlessly, his eyes darting between the siblings. His heart sank when he saw Penny’s hand — the cut was deep, too deep, one stitch wouldn’t be enough.
As the crowd’s roar grew louder, James knew they needed to leave. The bodyguards had already surrounded them, ready to whisk them away from any further danger.
“Slater, Penny, we need to go!” James urged, grabbing Slater’s shoulder, but Slater stood frozen, unable to move. “Slater…”
Penny clasped her hand to stop him from staring at her cut, prompting him to meet her gaze. “We’ll talk later,” she said firmly. “Let’s go. It’s not safe here.”
With that, Penny led her brother away from the scene.

A knock on the door didn’t distract Atlas from his work. He didn’t look up even as the door slowly opened and Allen, his assistant, poked his head in. Clearing his throat, Allen walked into the office.

“Sir,” he called, and this time, Atlas stopped.
It wasn’t Allen’s voice that caught his attention—it was the tone he used.
Slowly, Atlas lifted his head, locking eyes with his assistant. He knew immediately. Something terrible had happened. Allen’s expression gave it away—he wouldn’t wear that look unless the news was bad.
“What happened?” Atlas asked, his voice sharp and cold.
Allen exhaled deeply, bending slightly. “Manager James called. Your third brother was attacked.”
Atlas shot to his feet. Without saying a word, he walked to a nearby stand, grabbing his blazer. Not wasting a second, he headed for the door, Allen trailing behind.
“Call Hugo,” Atlas ordered icily. “Inform him of the situation.”
“I already have,” Allen replied, his voice shaky as he followed his boss. “Sir, there’s something else I haven’t told you yet.”
Atlas paused by the door, his chin held high. His sharp gaze slowly settled on Allen, causing the assistant to flinch.
Reporting Slater’s attack was hard enough, but what he was about to say next would undoubtedly infuriate his boss. Still, it had to be said.
“Your brother is fine,” Allen continued nervously. “Thankfully, Miss Penelope was there to stop the attack. But… she injured herself in the process.”
A flicker of emotion crossed Atlas’s eyes as his jaw tightened. “Shut down all information about this,” he commanded, turning to leave. “Make sure Zoren Pierson doesn’t hear a word.”
