Chapter 484: Anything but this silence, please!
When Penny woke up from her nap, she looked around and saw only Zoren in the room. Her face quickly beamed into a gentle light.
“Renren? You’re still here?” Her voice was a little coarse as she sat up. “Where’s Slater?”
For some reason, Zoren smiled at her question. “He’s getting a check-up.”
“Check-up?”
“A psychological test,” he shrugged indifferently. “He wasn’t hurt, but what happened probably shocked him. It’s best if he takes a test just to make sure.”
“Oh…” Penny sighed in relief upon hearing that. “He probably didn’t want to tell me. My third brother likes to act tough in front of me.”
“He is a big brother, after all.”
“I find it cute.”
Zoren chuckled, dragging his chair closer. “Want some fruit?”
Penny glanced at the plate and basket full of fruit on the side table. She smiled and nodded.
“I can do it,” she suggested, but he shook his head.
“I know you can, but let me.”
Penny pouted, watching him quietly as he plucked the grapes and placed them on the plate. Even how he did it looked meticulous with his long and slender fingers.
“Renren,” she called, and he hummed in response. “How’s your eyesight?”
“It’s not getting worse.”
“Is it getting better?”
“Just a little.” He offered her a reassuring smile. “My doctor says I’ll be fine. As long as I keep up the treatment, I’ll be okay.”
“I’m glad to hear that.”
“Now, here’s a grape.” Zoren moved his seat closer, forking a grape and holding it out to her.
Penny pursed her lips. “Renren, I’m not sick. I can feed myself, you know. The only reason I am here is because my third brother is being paranoid.”
“I know.” He smiled and nodded, but still held the fork in front of her.
“Goodness,” she muttered, her cheeks flushing before she took the bite happily.
Not many knew it, but Penny had always dreamed of living luxuriously. By “luxuriously,” she didn’t mean being covered in designer items; she dreamed of being surrounded by food without needing to lift a finger because someone was feeding her already.
“Hehe,” Penny giggled as Zoren immediately offered another grape. She took another bite, casting him a pleased look. “Renren, don’t feed me too much. I’m on a diet, you know?”
“Oh?” Zoren blinked. ‘She’s on a diet?’
He had already speared another grape and was about to feed her when she said that, so he hesitated, thinking he had been feeding her too fast. But just as he slowed down, Penny grabbed his arm and raised it, taking her third bite.
Penny: “Hehe.”
Zoren: “…”
“It’s sweet,” she said, raising her brows as she glanced at the fork idling over the next grape. ‘What’s taking him so long?’
Meanwhile, Zoren was reassessing the meaning of “diet.” Did she say that because she didn’t want him to think she had a big appetite? The thought made him chuckle as he fed her another grape. With each bite, a sweet giggle escaped her lips.

‘She seems to enjoy this,’ he thought, making a mental note of what made her happy. ‘She’s such a simple lady.’
Zoren casually fed her, ready to stuff her with all the food she wanted. After all, Penny deserved it. After getting hurt, she should eat plenty.
“Here’s another one,” he said as he meticulously guided the grape toward her mouth. Penny opened her mouth wide to accept the sweet treat when the door suddenly flew open.
With her mouth still agape, she turned toward the door. Zoren also paused, holding the fork in front of her as he looked at the entrance. Standing there were two figures: one in a formal suit and the other in casual attire. Their scent alone was enough for Zoren to recognize them.
Atlas and Hugo.
As for Atlas and Hugo, they stopped and stared at the scene before them. Their eyes darted between Penny, who had her mouth wide open, and Zoren feeding her. Atlas’s face quickly contorted in disgust at the sight, while Hugo remained expressionless.
“First Brother,” Hugo said quietly, still looking at the two. “Please tell me I’m tired and starting to see things because I think I see Zoren Pierson inside. Didn’t you say he’d never hear about this?”
Atlas took a deep breath and sighed. That deep sigh was enough of an answer for Hugo.
“Hehe. Hi?” Penny quickly snatched the fork from Zoren and took a bite. “I can do it on my own.”
After saying that, she kept the fork tightly gripped in her hand while picking up the grapes with her fingers, casting her brothers an awkward smile. Being sweet with Zoren was fine when they were alone, but it felt awkward in front of her brothers.
“I’m back… First Brother! Second Brother!” At that moment, Slater returned and stopped by the door, noticing his brothers standing there. His brows rose as he glanced at Penny and Zoren. “What’s going on?”
Nothing. Nothing at all.
—
Penny was saved the night Zoren came to the Bennet household because she had a fever. She knew that one of these days, she would have to face the family with her husband for a formal introduction. However, she hadn’t planned for it to happen today!
Her mother, father, and Haines might not be there, but Zoren and her three brothers already created enough pressure for her.
Ever since Slater, Hugo, and Atlas had settled in the room, no one had said a word. They had all taken their places in silence. The only words Penny could remember were Hugo asking about her well-being, and then… nothing.
Penny glanced at Slater, who was seated in the chair beside her bed. Within arm’s reach beside him was Zoren. She moved her eyes to the small couch where Atlas was seated, and Hugo stood by the window. She had no idea what was going through their minds.
She pressed her lips together and closed her eyes, crying out in her heart, ‘Why won’t you say a word?! Just fight if you must or argue if you must! Anything but this silence, please!’
