Chapter 529: Congrats!
“Stay out of my sister’s life, and I’ll stay out of yours.”
Dean couldn’t help but laugh as he recalled Slater’s warning. After saying that, Slater stepped back and offered Dean a charming smile, showing no trace of his earlier hostility. With that, Slater happily returned to his car and sped away, even honking to tease him before leaving.
“Sir,” Dean’s assistant called. “Should we be worried about Slater Bennet?”
“There’s no need for that.” Dean shook his head. “He’s just playing because he’s bored. As someone who’s always out and about, I’m certain his long-overdue vacation is killing him. So, let him be.”
The assistant nodded. “Yes, sir.”
Meanwhile, Dean leaned back and gazed out the window. He should have been mad about all of this, but in a way, he was amused. First Penny, now Slater—both were invading the Pierson family. It was so ridiculous he could only shake his head and laugh.
“Hah… Penny.” His laughter subsided as he ran his tongue along his inner cheek. “What am I going to do with you? Now, even your brothers are meddling.”
Did she ask them to intervene, or what?
From what Slater had said, Dean was certain Penny had mentioned their exchange. She might not have detailed it, but he understood that he had truly angered her yesterday. Well, that made it two of them, because she had angered him just as much.
“Send flowers to Penny’s office,” he ordered without taking his eyes off the window. “Add a card that says, ‘I’m sorry about yesterday.'”
“Yes, sir.” The assistant nodded. “Is there a specific flower she likes?”
“No,” Dean smirked. “She doesn’t like flowers, but send her one anyway. I’m certain she’s just going to throw it in the trash, so choose one that fits the trash can.”
The assistant glanced at him before nodding in understanding. “Understood.”
Dean smiled, knowing the flowers would only remind her of her anger toward him. Even so, if that was enough to keep him on her mind, he didn’t mind. As he laughed at the thought, his assistant suddenly turned her head back toward the backseat.
“Sir,” she called, making him glance at her. “You might want to see this.”
Deep lines immediately formed between Dean’s brows as he leaned forward to take the tablet from his assistant. He leaned back and skimmed through the freshly released article. The more he read, the more his lips curled into a smile.
“Hah… haha!” Dean laughed and shook his head at the ridiculous article. “What a ridiculous article. Someone’s trying to be a clown.”
Dean checked the photos, which were obviously taken without the subjects’ knowledge. He smirked before handing the tablet back.
“Let it be. This is ridiculous,” he said. “But send her another flower along with the first one. This time, a welcoming card. If I’m going to annoy her, I might as well do it with passion.”
“Yes, sir.”

[Skyline Plaza: Zoren’s Home]
“Second Brother? What are you doing here?” Penny gasped as she stopped by the stairs, catching a very familiar figure idling in the entryway. She flinched when Hugo turned his head, his eyes briefly scanning her.
Fortunately, Penny had already finished her morning routine and was ready for work, so she was able to hide what needed hiding.
‘Good thing I snapped Renren back to his senses last night with a bite. Otherwise, I’d be wearing another turtleneck today,’ she thought, mentally patting herself on the chest in relief.
“Penny!” Hugo beamed at the sight of his sister. “Good morning!”
“Second Brother…” she greeted with an awkward laugh, running down the stairs and reaching him in no time. Once she stood before him, she looked around before returning her gaze to him. “Second Brother, why are you greeting me so early as if you’re in our parents’ home?”
“Ah..” Hugo grinned. “You don’t know?”

“Of course, I know nothing!” she responded sarcastically. “How would I know anything when you do things on your own?”
“Says the one who got herself married and then launched a full-blown investigation to find out who did it.”
Penny almost choked on her own saliva at the rebuttal. Seeing her reaction made Hugo laugh.
“Just in case you don’t know—which I’m sure you don’t because it was decided while you were snoring an hour ago—I’m going to be living here!”
“What?!”
Hugo grinned from ear to ear. “Zoren approved.”
“What?” she gasped again. “Wait, hang on. What’s going on here? Second Brother, I know you’re homeless, but that doesn’t mean you can squat anywhere you please!”
“Ouch.” Hugo’s face deadpanned. “Did you really have to say it like that?”
“But it’s the truth.” This time, her voice lowered as she leaned in a bit. “Second Brother, did you threaten Renren?”
“Penny, now you’re hurting my feelings. Do you think I’m the kind of person who would throw threats just to get what he wants?”
“Uhh… yes?”
Hugo frowned, recalling all the times he’d lost his temper with others. He shrugged, unable to argue. She was right; he was the type to do that when pushed to his limits.
“I can’t believe my sister sees me in this light, but then again, I can’t believe I see you in a completely different light as well,” he remarked, making her scrunch her nose.
“What does that mean?”
He smiled at her pitifully. “Don’t try to understand, Penny. You’d just get hurt.”
As she pondered how to make him speechless, Zoren’s calm voice reached their ears.
“You’re awake?”
Penny and Hugo looked in his direction, and she quickly bolted toward Zoren. In the blink of an eye, she was standing in front of him.
“Renren, why is my second brother saying he’ll be living here?” she asked in disbelief, clasping his arm to pull him down. Zoren willingly bent over, leaning in as she whispered in his ear, “What about our nightly duties?”
Zoren chuckled, casting his mischievous wife a meaningful look. “Second Brother is bored, and he says he’s going to assist me for the time being.” He then leaned closer to whisper the rest of his sentiments in her ear. “Don’t worry. The house is big. He won’t bother us… he promised.”
He promised?
Penny gasped, feeling less than reassured.
“Dad wants me to help him,” Hugo explained before his smile stretched. “But while I help him, I’ll also be looking after Renny and Chunchun. Don’t worry about it. It’s a done deal.”
“Ahh…” Penny darted her eyes between Zoren and Hugo. After letting out a deep sigh, she moved closer to Zoren and asked, “You’re fine with him being around?”
He nodded. “Of course, he is your brother. He’s family… right?” Zoren slowly shifted his eyes to Hugo. “Second Brother.”
“Yes.” Hugo nodded, catching sight of Renny approaching from the corner of his eye. His smile widened as he added, “Of course, brother.”
“Bro… brother…?” Penny furrowed her brows in confusion. She quickly looked at Zoren in disbelief. “Did he just… did he just call you…?”
Zoren nodded, tipping his head slightly as part of his explanation. When Penny followed his gaze and saw Renny approaching, her mouth fell open.
“Ahh…” she nodded. “… so that’s how… Wow, Renren. You got my Second Brother’s soft spot.”
Penny faced Zoren and smiled, giving him two thumbs up. “That’s fast, but congrats!”
“Haha. Come. Have breakfast before we start on our day.”
