Chapter 542: Bold and aggressive is good, but this is the fire you do not want to play with.
The Giving Gala was one of the largest charity events held annually. It was a collaborative effort between the biggest charity groups in Anteca. In support of their noble causes, many prominent figures, such as politicians, businessmen, and even a select few celebrities, were invited to the event. It wasn’t as exclusive as one might expect, but it wasn’t an event just anyone could attend.
For instance, even a small business entity could gain entry if they were sponsors of any of the charity groups.
The Giving Gala might not have been as high-profile event like others, but it was significant to many people across different industries. After all, many important individuals attended for their own reasons — primarily to strengthen their networks. In a way, despite the good causes of the event, many saw it as an opportunity.
Like this one.
“Sir, Theo Miller is approaching,” Allen leaned in and whispered to Atlas. Atlas nodded, offering a smile to the three men chatting with him.
Soon enough, Atlas heard Theo’s voice nearby.
“Atlas!”
Atlas and the other three men, who had been chatting quietly in the corner of the hall, turned their heads toward the voice. Approaching them was a tall, slender man in a striped suit, which made him appear taller than he was.
The three men smiled politely, hiding their true thoughts, knowing that the Bennets and the Millers were at odds.
“Excuse me,” Atlas said to the three, who returned his words with friendly smiles and remarks. As they walked away to give Atlas and Theo some privacy, Atlas turned slowly to face Theo.
“Mr. Miller,” Atlas greeted as Theo stopped in front of him.
Theo smiled, eyeing Atlas from head to toe. Although they had seen each other just months ago, Theo still couldn’t help but be amused that Atlas hadn’t changed.
“I didn’t expect to bump into you here,” Theo said. “I thought, since you’re now acquainted with the Piersons, you wouldn’t bother coming to such a small event.”
“My father supported this event from the start of his tenure until his final year before retirement,” Atlas replied, tilting his head slightly. “Though, I’m surprised to see you here.”
“Why would you be surprised? I was invited.”
“You were?”
Theo smirked. “Atlas, come on. I know we’ve had many disagreements regarding our businesses, but there’s no point in antagonizing each other now. It doesn’t suit the spirit of the event at all.”
Atlas didn’t bother to reply, knowing that engaging Theo would only prolong the insufferable conversation. Theo had always been like this, acting carefree and as though he was enjoying himself no matter what. Atlas had long since seen through his antics.
“Atlas, didn’t you invite Mr. Pierson?” Theo asked, tilting his head curiously. “Everyone was expecting you to bring him to show off your friendly relationship.”
“You said it yourself. This event is far too small for someone like the Piersons to attend,” Atlas replied flatly. “Only foolish people would expect them to set foot here. Even if they did, they’d just send representatives.”
Atlas squinted his eyes, genuinely curious. “Don’t tell me you didn’t know that?”
Although Atlas’s question was meant innocently, Theo took it as an indirect insult. His friendly smile twisted slightly, and he let out a dry laugh through closed lips. While Atlas took a moment to process Theo’s slow understanding, Allen cringed.
‘Oh no,’ Allen thought, lowering his head. ‘He’s going to misunderstand for sure.’
“Fair enough,” Theo said. “You’re right, I suppose. This event is full of foolish people.”
“Foolish people?” a sudden voice interrupted. “Who said everyone here is foolish?”
Atlas and Theo turned to see an elderly man with a cane approaching. He was accompanied by a group of middle-aged men, whose familiar faces both Atlas and Theo recognized.
Seeing the elderly man, Theo straightened up and smiled.
“Mr. Ito, you’ve arrived!” Theo greeted, bowing slightly to show respect to the chairman of Ito Motors.
The elderly man glanced at Theo, but his eyes narrowed as they fell on Atlas. “Atlas Bennet. The man who ruined the once-glorious reputation of Global Prime Group!”
Allen’s ears perked up at Mr. Ito’s remarks, and he clenched his teeth as he glanced at Atlas. Much to his disappointment, Atlas’s expression remained neutral.

“Mr. Miller, what were you saying about everyone here being foolish?” Mr. Ito asked loudly, drawing attention from the surrounding crowd.
Theo smiled. “It’s nothing, Mr. Ito. Atlas and I were just discussing his rapport with the Piersons.”
“Hah!” Mr. Ito scoffed. “Global Prime’s relationship with the Piersons? I thought that was just a stunt to help the Bennets cut ties with us!”
“Huh?” Theo furrowed his brows, confused by Mr. Ito’s remark. Even Atlas raised an eyebrow.
‘What nonsense is this old man spouting?’ Atlas thought, narrowing his eyes as he studied the arrogant look on Mr. Ito’s face.
“Oh, Mr. Miller, it seems you also fell for that stunt,” Mr. Ito chuckled, shaking his head. “If you didn’t know, the real reason I cut ties with them was that, after repeatedly going back on their word, they tried to rip us off by raising their rates unreasonably. From what I heard, the chairman was so furious that Atlas Bennet’s only resort was to use Zoren Pierson’s name to get out of it!”
“What?” Theo gasped, while the onlookers exchanged confused looks.
Mr. Ito scoffed again, seemingly coming to the event just to expose Atlas. “Atlas Bennet, the young ones today may be bold and aggressive, but using the Piersons… don’t you have any shame? I mean, don’t you have any fear? Being bold is good at times, but this is the fire you do not want to play with.”
“What would you do if the Piersons heard that you’ve been using them?” he added meaningly.
Atlas’s lips finally turned down, having already guessed who might be behind this fantasy. There was only one person bold enough to concoct such a lie. The only person who would tarnish Atlas’s name even at the cost of ruining the Bennet Family image and Global Prime Logistics.
Sven.
