Chapter 574: Can you believe it?
There were many questions Zoren had for Penny, especially regarding what she had said moments ago. However, he set all of that aside and waited. According to Hugo, she would wake up almost instantly. After all, he had informed Hugo about Penny’s plans for the night.
‘Thirty-three minutes,’ he thought. ‘That’s how long it took for her to wake up. I guess it’s different. Was it based on what she drinks?’
Tonight, she had wine. The night Hugo tested her, they had vodka.
“Ugh…” Penny sat up groggily, scratching her head as she groaned. “Damn it. My body feels so sore…”
She trailed off, raising her brows as she looked around the bedroom. Penny tilted her head to the side, confused about where she had woken up. When she turned her head and her eyes landed on the person leaning against the door, her face brightened up.
“Hubby!” she jumped up on the bed, patting it excitedly. “What are you doing in there? Come!”
“…” Zoren couldn’t study her face well, but he could sense the aura she was emitting. It was unlike the fear Penny had given off before she drank wine.
He smiled and peeled himself away from the door. “You’re awake?”
“What do you mean, I’m awake?” Penny frowned, watching him sit on the edge of the bed. “I barely had a nap, you know?! Did I miss the entire movie?!”
Again, Zoren fell silent upon hearing her question. Last time, they had watched a movie together before she fell asleep.
‘So, when she’s drunk, she remembers, or rather, continues the events from where she fell asleep?’ he wondered. ‘How about that time she had a drink with Hugo?’
“I thought you’d sleep through the night,” he said. “Didn’t you like the bed? Was it too soft?”
Penny grinned. “Too soft?” She slapped the mattress. “It is too soft, but I like it. The beds in prison are terrible, you know?”
“Prison?”
“I didn’t tell you?” Penny blinked. “I’m an ex-con.”
“You were?”
Penny squinted at him. “Why? Scared now?”
“Not a bit.” Zoren reached out to her, cupping her face and then brushing her cheek with his thumb. “Just… curious. Prison isn’t a good place. I can’t imagine you having to stay in such a horrible place.”
“Hehe. It’s okay now. I’m alive, and I’m out!” she giggled, scooting closer to him and hugging his arm. “Husband, I was very pitiful in there, you know? They kept bullying me because I’m pretty!”
Zoren let out a short chuckle. “How did you end up in there?”
“Well…” Penny smacked her lips and just smiled. “Because of someone.”
“Someone?”
“Mhm. Someone.”
“May I know who it is?”
“Of course!” Penny grinned and jumped off the bed, landing in front of him while batting her eyelashes coquettishly. She then pointed at him. “Before that, strip.”
“…”
Does she have to make it sound like she was telling a gigolo to strip? Zoren sighed a bit and reached for his buttons, undoing a few of them when she chuckled.
“I’m kidding! Hahaha!” Penny laughed like an evil witch, earning a strange look from him.
“Didn’t you say you wanted to lose your virginity?”
“I did, but not tonight,” she grinned. “It’s what you said.”

Again, Zoren fell silent upon hearing her answer. She remembered all the details of that night very clearly. It was amazing in a way.
“Anyway, husband, where’s he?”
“Hmm?”
“Nathaniel.” She batted her eyes beautifully. “Where is that damn bastard? I know I got distracted by your beauty, but I need to settle scores with him.”
“What did he do to you?”
“You asked me how I ended up in prison.” She raised her brows meaningfully.
“Ah.” Zoren nodded in understanding. “He’s the reason?”
“Yep!” Penny blinked. “Now, tell me where he is.”
Zoren didn’t answer immediately, studying this seemingly happy-go-lucky woman. He couldn’t feel any trace of the Penny from earlier; she was in a completely different mood. It didn’t feel like she was angry, nor did she carry any murderous intent.
Penny, right now, was just… happy.
For what reason, he didn’t know. All he knew was that she seemed to be in a celebratory mood, a stark contrast to how she had been before drinking wine.
“I can lead you to him,” Zoren spoke, pushing himself up from the bed. “However, before that, someone wants you to have this first.”
Deep lines appeared between her brows as she gazed down at the envelope between them. “What’s this?”
“I have no idea.” He shrugged. “I was only told to deliver it.”
“Someone told you to hand this over to me…?” Penny reluctantly accepted it. “Who?”
Zoren stared at her before he dawdled. “You.”
“What?”
“Check it out.” He jerked his chin toward the envelope. “Maybe you’ll understand it, as I do not understand this situation at all.”
Penny hummed and gazed at the envelope, holding it up in front of her. Meanwhile, Zoren casually walked over to the table, pouring himself some wine from the same glass he had used. After pouring the drink, he picked it up and faced her. She was already opening the envelope.
A glint flickered across his eyes as he guided the glass to his lips, his gaze still fixated on her.
“What the hell did I do?” she muttered to herself, raising a brow as she took out the folded paper inside. She casually opened it up, knitting her brows in confusion. “Isn’t this my handwriting?”
Penny glanced at Zoren, only to see him shrug. Confused, she set her eyes on the letter that was in her own handwriting. Her eyes scanned the opening remarks before they slowly fell on the content of the letter.
The more she read, the deeper the lines on her brows and forehead furrowed. When she reached the last word of the letter, her lips curved down.
“What in the world is this?” she asked, chuckling. She then turned her head to Zoren. “Husband, did you write this?”
“No. I don’t even know what it says.”
She snickered. “It says that I died and that I was reborn. Can you believe it?”
