Chapter 609: Drinks for the ladies
[Crimson Bar]
“Hah!” Penny let out a deep exhale, leaning against the bar counter in exhaustion. She glanced at the bartender, smiling wearily as she ordered a glass of water. “I need a drink that will hydrate me, not the other way around.”
The bartender chuckled at how exhausted she looked, serving her a glass of water since it seemed she desperately needed it. Penny chugged it down in one go, hissing in satisfaction.
“Ah, goodness,” she breathed out, casting the bartender a smile. “Thank you.”
“Do you need another glass?”
“Yes, please.” Penny slid the empty glass back to him, which the bartender took and placed somewhere else, getting her another glass and filling it with water. This time, Penny simply took a few mouthfuls, now satisfied and her thirst quenched.
“Goodness,” another remark escaped her mouth, looking back at the dance floor with exhaustion. “Aren’t they tired yet?”
Her friends had been dancing nonstop while drinking alcoholic beverages at the same time. It was crazy that they had so much energy when Penny was the only one who hadn’t had a drink.
“Even Nina is getting a lot more drunk,” she whispered, seeing that Nina started to act less restrained. “Look at her.”
The corners of Penny’s lips hooked up, like a mother proud of her child. For a second, she felt like Jessa, who wanted her girls to have fun and let loose. After all, Jessa often said they should all enjoy their youth, date as many men as they could, and use their bodies to their full extent. The last two were unnecessary, and Penny just disregarded it.
‘I’m so glad I gathered them all tonight. Otherwise, I might lose my mind thinking about all the things I need to stress about.’ Another wave of quiet chuckles escaped Penny as she watched her friends look around as if they were searching for someone.
When Nina’s eyes fell on the bar counter where Penny was, she pointed in her direction. Lily, Ginnie, and Grace turned their eyes toward Penny before the four of them sauntered over.
“Oh, my goodness!” Lily remarked while laughing, her steps reckless as she almost tripped. Fortunately, Ginnie was there to assist her, and the two of them dragged themselves to the bar counter.
“You’re drunk,” Grace chuckled, taking the spot on Penny’s other side.
“Penny~ why did you leave us~?” Nina, who didn’t take a spot, decided to hug Penny, who was seated on the stool. “I missed you so much. I got scared that you were gone.”
Penny let out a soft chuckle, glancing at Nina. “You’re drunk, aren’t you?”
“I’m not, Penny… I’m just sad when I thought you left!” Nina hugged Penny tighter as if Penny were her mother and she didn’t want her to go.
Lily and Ginnie recklessly settled in their seats, with Lily almost falling. Among them, Lily was the most drunk. Grace could handle her alcohol well and hadn’t been drinking as much as Lily. As for Ginnie, she was tipsy but still mentally aware of the chaos around her.
“A drink here!” Lily raised a hand at the bartender. “For the girls!”
The bartender glanced at the group of women and smiled subtly, making them some very light drinks they could enjoy. After all, a few of them seemed quite intoxicated.
“What a night!” Lily cooed, almost cheering at the top of her lungs. “Penny, why didn’t you do this sooner?! It’s so fun!”
Ginnie melted on the bar counter and giggled. “Let’s do this again next time.”
“I agree with them,” Grace nodded. “Let’s go out more often.”
“Klsdhihfd,” Nina mumbled, and no one understood what kind of alien language she was using. She still stood beside Penny, hugging her, and her weight almost fell onto the latter. Penny didn’t mind, though, thinking Nina was already drunk.
“You know what?” Penny hummed and looked at them with newfound realization. “You were right. We should do this more.”
“Yes!” Ginnie exclaimed. “I’m so tired of seeing the same faces — those ugly faces of my team. Though I have to admit they were right. I needed a life.”
The more they heard bits and pieces of Ginnie’s life, the more confused they became. They were unsure if it was the team Ginnie was handling that was the insufferable bunch, or if it was Ginnie who was giving her team hell.
“Drinks for the ladies,” the bartender announced amicably as he served the drinks.
They smiled at him, taking their drinks like kids given their juices. Penny didn’t touch hers, sticking to the glass of water. Seeing Lily drink more, a shallow breath slipped past her nostrils.
“I think we should leave now,” Penny suggested, glancing at their faces. “We had a lot of fun tonight, but she’s drunk.”

“I’m not… drunk…” Nina murmured, getting more comfortable on Penny’s side with her head on the latter’s shoulder. “Penny… so soft… I missed it when you were softer, though. I didn’t say it before, but you were very cute back when you were chubby and small.”
“…” The ladies gazed at the mumbling Nina, shaking their heads as they all silently agreed Nina was drunk. If Nina was already like this, it was best if they took her home.
“I didn’t know Nina was such a lightweight,” Lily mumbled in awe. “Considering what kind of brat she used to be, how she is as an adult is mind-blowing.”
Ginnie giggled. “Nina, do you know that Lily and I used to make these dolls and attach your face to them? Don’t worry, we didn’t do any voodoo even though we were tempted. We just prayed for that doll so your soul would get cleansed.”
“Hehe.” Nina chuckled, her eyes still closed. “Thanks, it worked.”
Grace, on the other hand, simply laughed while Penny’s face contorted. Penny had no idea about that part of Ginnie and Lily’s friendship. However, if they did that, she was reconsidering Lily and Ginnie’s contribution to Nina’s change.
“Our things are still in the lounge,” Grace remarked. “Let’s get them first. I’ll call us a driver to take us all home.”
She then cast the bartender a glance. “Don’t worry. No one’s driving drunk.”
The bartender smiled back at her, pleased that he didn’t have to get their keys first. After all, it was part of the rules not to let their guests take their keys unless they got a driver.
“If you can’t find one, we offer private driver services,” said the bartender kindly.
Having said that, the girls were set to go back to the lounge for their stuff and then head home together. It was a fun night, but they had to call it a night. However, just as they were getting up from their spots, Lily was suddenly pulled to the side by someone.
“Babe, what are you doing here?”
