Chapter 621: Not going down alone
Boogsh!
Thin smoke ascended from the table and the man who had crashed into it. The table split in half, rendering everyone speechless. All they could do was watch with wide eyes, their mouths agape in shock.
“Oh, my god…” someone in the crowd blurted out, covering her gaping mouth. “What is going on here?”
Those who heard her could only shake their heads because even they had no idea what they were witnessing. They had been there since the beginning, watching everything unfold right before their eyes. However, even they couldn’t describe this slaughter.
Aiden’s bodyguard jumped at Penny all at once. However, unlike how she fought previously—where she would only launch one or two attacks to take them down—she seemed to be having fun.
Initially, some were worried. Even if Penny looked like a demon who had just crawled her way out of the pits of hell, she was injured. The back of her head was still bleeding. Although the blood wasn’t gushing out like a river, she was still injured. Yet, after only five minutes, all of their worries were replaced with fear.
No one interrupted, afraid they’d get caught in the fire.
Now, Penny had taken down every bodyguard who came after her. How she did so wasn’t any less savage than how she had taken down that one. All of them passed out after being beaten to a pulp.
“Huh….” Aiden took a step back, only to fall to his bottom. Yet he still tried to crawl away from this devil while staring at Penny with wide eyes. “Demon… you’re a monster…”
Penny, who was basking in the glory of her victory, slowly raised an eyebrow. She turned her head, her eyes instantly falling on Aiden.
“No.” Aiden shook his head in fear, his entire body trembling. He had witnessed how Penny had beaten all those big guys without remorse. If anything, it seemed the fight had only prolonged because she allowed it to.
How could he fight someone like that?
Penny inflicted unrestrained punches and was even sent flying by a kick. But still, here she was, standing victorious as if she didn’t care much about the blows she had received. When she started marching in his direction, Aiden squealed.
“Don’t come near me, you monster!” Aiden panicked, crawling on his bottom. He looked left and right in a hurry. “She’s going to hurt me! Please help me! Somebody! Someone is going to commit murder here!”
The crowd, despite their shock, were dismayed at Aiden’s call for help. Earlier, wasn’t he the one who tried to abduct his ex just because Lily didn’t want to come with him? On top of that, hadn’t he ordered those goons dressed as bodyguards to hurt Penny if that was the only way to get her out of the way?
Just how shameless, pathetic, and low could he be?
“Tch,” Penny sneered as she slowed down just to make him savor the dread in his heart. Little by little, step by step, she drew closer, staring at him like a predator stalking her prey.
“Help!” Aiden almost choked when he sensed her stifling presence nearing. Looking at her, his heart dropped to his stomach as his entire soul seemed to leave his body.
Without thinking twice, Aiden reached for anything on the floor. Because of the fight, many things were scattered around. He first grabbed a fork, throwing it in her direction. But alas, Penny simply tilted her head to the side to dodge it.
Aiden then grabbed a spoon and threw it at her. But just like the first, she dodged it. He continued to pick up what he could and hurled it at her, but to no avail. He either missed them or she avoided them. Either way, the distance between them shrank more and more.
When she was only three steps away, Aiden finally stopped.
“No,” he breathed out, his complexion ashen, his wide eyes fixed on Penny. ‘She’s going to kill me.’
Perhaps it was the realization that he couldn’t escape now that made him stop, or maybe it was that his entire body had ceased to resist. It could be that he simply lost hope and accepted his fate. Whatever the reason, Aiden didn’t care anymore because his body wasn’t listening to him.
Before his mind could surrender, his body had already given in.
What else could he do?
Just as Aiden moved his hand on the floor, he felt something sharp prick his fingertip. Keeping his head up as Penny suddenly stopped, Aiden glanced at the shard he had touched.
There was a huge, broken piece of a plate. The sight of it ignited the last survival instinct he had left.
“What a loser,” Penny hissed, taking another lazy step before stopping again. “I don’t have any idea what to do with a trash like you, but oh well.”
Penny smirked and resumed her steps. When she was just a step away from him, she bent over and grabbed his shoulders, pulling him up to throw him away. At the same time that she clasped his shoulder, Aiden slid his hand back and grasped the broken piece swiftly.
Aiden didn’t care if it would hurt him or if the shard sliced through his skin when he grabbed it. He didn’t even feel the pain with the adrenaline surging through every nerve in his body. All he knew was that if he was going down, he might as well take her with him.

In his mind, she was the problem. She was to blame. If not for her meddling, this wouldn’t have happened. If this didn’t happen, tonight would end peacefully for everyone. And if not for Penny, he wouldn’t lose everything.
Knowing tonight would be his end—whether or not Penny ended him—it was the same. Aiden couldn’t escape earlier while she was distracted, and thus, he knew there was no way out. He might as well go to prison for taking this woman out. If so, then they were even, and he deserved to be there.
With that thought in mind, Aiden swung the arm holding the broken piece, aiming directly at her face. Penny had no time to react as she glanced at his fist, wide-eyed. All she heard next was a woman screaming at the top of her lungs.
“Kyahh!!!”
