Chapter 635: Two brains are better than one
[BENNET MANSION]
Once the family arrived, everyone went off to do their own thing. Since Penny had just gone through a terrible incident, Allison focused on her daughter and gave her special care. She didn’t have time to show Zoren around, but she did escort them to Penny’s room.
“I asked Butler Jen to prepare the room. Fortunately, there’s an extra bed that will fit the two of you,” Allison said as soon as they reached Penny’s room, smiling gently at the couple. Her smile, however, cracked as she darted her eyes between them.
“I—I’ll help in the kitchen first,” she said with a forced smile, her eyes teary. “You two should rest for now, okay?”
Having said that, Allison didn’t wait for their answer as she rushed outside.
“…” Zoren was momentarily speechless, casting his wife a confused look. “Was your mother… crying?”
Penny’s face twitched a little as she stared at the door before casting her husband a look. “It’s okay. She’s probably just overwhelmed by the fact that another man is going to sleep in my bed with me.”
“Oh…” Zoren nodded slowly. “I can stay in the guest room if that would make her feel better. I don’t mind.”
“Renren, you don’t get it.” Penny waved and grabbed his arm, dragging him to the study chair and sitting him down. She then looked around her bedroom, her eyes particularly studying the bed.
Her bed had been big before, but unlike her and Zoren’s bed at his place, this one was smaller. Her lips curled up as a mischievous glint flickered across her eyes, setting her mischievous gaze back on Zoren.
The moment her eyes landed on him, his brows rose innocently. Tilting his head a little, Penny’s mischievous smile faded before she pressed her lips into a thin line.
‘Just look at us,’ she told herself, clasping her chest at the malicious thoughts that had crossed her mind just now. ‘He’s so innocent, and here I am, thinking about how our sleeping position will be later.’
Zoren studied her figure before the side of his mouth curled up. Reaching out to her arm, he slowly pulled her until she was sitting on his lap.
“Something’s wrong?” he asked, his voice low with a clear interest in her dilemma.
Penny frowned. “Nothing’s wrong,” she pouted. “It’s just that… our bed is a little small for the two of us.”
“I don’t mind.” He shrugged. “Do you?”
“Nope!” Penny shook her head profusely, patting his chest. “You should rest, and I will help Mom.”
Penny was about to push herself up when Zoren squeezed her waist, stilling her.
“You should rest,” he repeated. “You just got discharged… again.”
“Right.”
“Does it hurt?” he asked, brushing her hair back to check the back of her head.
“I’m fine…” Penny clasped his wrist and looked at his bandaged hand. Her face crumpled a little at the sight of it, and she sighed heavily as she snapped her eyes up to him. “Renren, don’t do that again, will you? Look at your hand! Goodness. Don’t be rash and ruin your beautiful hands next time.”
“…” Zoren blinked slowly. “Was I rash?”
“Mhm!” She nodded shamelessly, only for the concern on her face to stiffen. Zoren’s hand was injured because he had recklessly and fearlessly grabbed the end of the broken bottle, only to smash it over the culprit.
But he had done that because of her.
‘Oh, my god!’ she gasped to herself, looking up at him apologetically. “Sorry…?”
Instead of getting angry or frustrated, Zoren just offered her a smile. He leaned forward, planting a soft kiss on her cheek.
“I won’t be rash anymore,” he said, making her purse her lips and flutter her eyelashes. But what he added made her sweet smile stiffen. “I’ll smash it differently next time… so as not to ruin my beautiful hand.”
Zoren then raised his brows briefly but meaningfully.
“Renren.” Penny laughed nervously. It would be a lie to say she expected to hear that at all. After all, in her mind, Zoren was an angel—beautiful, graceful, PERFECTION. It was no surprise that when he said something bad, it sounded like charity.

Life was truly unfair.
Penny cleared her throat, getting distracted just by staring at her husband. If she wouldn’t let this go, she would admire him all day, and she wouldn’t get tired of it.
“You should rest.” His gentle yet firm voice snapped her out of her thoughts. “I’ll help downstairs.”
“No. You don’t have to help downstairs. They’d prefer it that way.”
“And why is that?”
Penny smiled, giving her husband a strange look. “It’s just better that way.”
“Oh.”
“You stay here,” Penny tapped her hands on his shoulders, signaling him to let her go. However, Zoren didn’t budge as he asked, “Where are you going?”
“I’ll get the bean bags. This chair will break if the two of us sit here, and I don’t like sitting on my bed in my outdoor clothes,” she answered matter-of-factly, making him release her ever so slowly.
Having said that, Penny quickly dragged the bean bags closer. Luckily, there were two of them available. Once she finished, she cast Zoren a look.
Zoren tilted his head a little to the side, brows furrowed. When he heard her say, “Come on. Sit here,” he gazed down at the bean bag. Despite his confusion, he got up and approached the bean bag. At the same time, Penny walked back to where he came from and rummaged through her desk.
“…” Zoren quietly sat down on the beanbag, a bit surprised that it was much lower than he had expected. But it was comfortable if he relaxed his long legs. Turning his head in Penny’s direction, he wondered, ‘What is she doing?’
The moment he asked that question in his mind, Penny spun around and faced him. Even though he couldn’t see clearly, he could tell she was beaming.
“It’s time,” she announced, walking back to him, only to realize Zoren wasn’t extending his legs because she had placed the other beanbag in front of him. Her face twitched, thinking, ‘I thought if we sat facing each other, it would be more proper to talk. But I guess his legs are too long for this distance.’
With that thought in mind, Penny dragged the bean bag to his side and plopped down beside him. She bounced a little, grinning while he stared at her.
“Time for what?” he asked curiously.
Penny let out a short chuckle. “Two brains are better than one. I’m applying that saying in this scenario.”
“Huh?”
“I need a brainstorming buddy,” she muttered. “Help me.”
