Chapter 667: It was his to begin with
When Atlas heard about what this flash drive could do for Global Prime Logistics, he quickly refused it. Software like this was something he wouldn’t accept without a price. In fact, if what Penny said was true, then this flash drive alone was worth if not tens, then hundreds of millions.
Companies would allocate such a huge budget for it, and it would have taken many years to develop. Yet Penny just gave it away to him, telling him the only repayment she wanted was for him to use it.
“Sir, you’ve been staring at the flash drive since parting ways with Miss Penelope,” Allen’s voice pierced through the silence in the car as he glanced back at the backseat. “Is there something wrong?”
“No, nothing’s wrong.” Atlas shook his head before snapping his gaze to the front seat. “Let’s head back. I need to do something before I meet with the investors.”
“Yes.” Allen nodded and cast a look at the driver.
As for Atlas, he shifted his attention back to the flash drive and then slowly turned his gaze to the window.
‘Penny…’ he thought, exhaling heavily before a subtle smile appeared on his face. “She never ceases to amaze me. Perhaps I’m the lucky one.”
—
Meanwhile…
Penny propped her elbow on the front passenger seat, her eyes on the window. Her lips curled up, thinking that her years of hard work weren’t in vain. Surely, graduating early to learn many other things was slowly bearing fruit.
“Uhh… not that I’m being the villain here, but you do understand that you just tossed hundreds of millions away for free, right?”
Suddenly, a voice from the driver’s seat pulled her back from her thoughts. Penny turned to the driver’s seat, her eyes landing on a petite yet handsome man sitting there. His hair was dyed blonde and a little curly. His jaw was sharp, and his face was small, with an Adam’s apple that was easily noticeable.
“Your sunglasses look good on you, Yugi,” she mused, making him glance at her in dismay.
“Penny, don’t change the subject!” he grumbled. “That software was already up for auction—god! Why are you doing charity?! If you sold it, you could’ve been a multi-billionaire!”
“I am already a multi-billionaire, though.”
When she said that, Penny found herself gripping the handle as Yugi suddenly pulled over to the side of the road.
“Say what?!” he gasped, facing her. “When? How?! Where’s my bonus?!”
Penny scrunched up her nose, looking at him with disdain. “Why would I give you a bonus when you’re already draining my pockets dry?”
“Draining your pockets dry?! Hah! Penny, what the hell are you blabbering about now?”
“Didn’t you just buy yourself another sports car while you were overseas?”
“…”
“From what I heard, I was the one who was going to pay for it.”
“…”
“I wouldn’t have known that until I got a call from my good old friend, telling me that you were getting yourself a car under my name.”
“…”
“They almost got you arrested for fraud, you know? If it weren’t for me, you would be in jail—no car, no money, no life.”
“…”
“Tsk, tsk, tsk.” Penny shook her head mildly, watching his complexion turn pale. Even though he was wearing sunglasses, she could see the shock and horror in his eyes.
After a moment, Yugi snapped out of it and looked at her in dismay. “But you gave me your card and told me to buy myself something!”
“Something… I didn’t say to buy yourself a sports car!”

“Penny! Are you going back on your word now?!”
“Tsk.” Penny clicked her tongue before waving dismissively. “Atlas said your car is already in customs. After that, it’ll be delivered right to your doorstep.”
“Really?” He beamed. “That’s so fast!”
She rolled her eyes and shook her head. She should’ve known Yugi would happily take advantage of her when she handed him her card. But then again, a sports car was nothing compared to all the help this guy had given her for a long time.
After all, Yugi was second-in-command at Prime Group. He was the one who often did her bidding, and if Penny wasn’t around, his decisions carried the same authority as hers. He deserved the car… even though his salary was something that hurt her bank account.
“Don’t cry about the software that I handed to Atlas,” she remarked, changing the topic because now Yugi had no other reason to criticize her unless he didn’t want his car anymore. “It’s nothing.”
Yugi let out a deep sigh and shook his head mildly. “Before I put my case to rest, answer my questions first.”
“Did Atlas tell you to do this for him?” he asked without hesitation, and Penny shook her head.
“You should’ve seen the look on his face when I told him about the software,” she chuckled. “In fact, he didn’t want to accept it. He even wrote me a cheque.”
Penny suddenly took out a piece of cheque, holding it between her index and middle fingers. “See?”
“Did he think that software is only worth twenty million?” Yugi scoffed.
“I told him just to write me a check and gave him the number. He doubled it, but he knows it’s not enough.”
“Fine.” Yugi rolled his eyes, knowing she always had a say in everything he said. Why was he still trying? “Then, answer this one for me.”
This time, Yugi sported a solemn look, eyes locked with hers. “Why? Why would you just give away years of hard work for free? If he didn’t ask you for it and a goblin like you could’ve gotten more if you sold it, why give it away?”
“Hmm…” Penny hummed a long tune, peeling her gaze from him to look out the window. She thought about it for a moment before her lips curled up. “Because I started the project with him in my thoughts.”
“Huh?”
“I built it with him in my mind,” she confessed quietly, her eyes soft. “So, in a way, it was his to begin with.”
Yugi studied her side profile before shaking his head mildly. “I can never guess your next move; that I’m sure of,” he grumbled before restarting the car and driving back to Prime Group since there was nothing he could do.
Moreover, she seemed happy about it. So, he didn’t bring it up and let it be. The money they could’ve earned from the software was significant, but there was nothing more important than her happiness and peace of mind.
