Chapter 702: He killed my son
No matter how indifferent Atlas was to Sven or his antics, he couldn’t disregard the news of Sven’s attempted suicide. He hadn’t heard the full details of what happened to his cousin, but from what Atlas gathered, when his uncle and aunt came to check on their son, they found Sven hanging from the bathroom door.
Thankfully, they arrived right on time, and Sven was saved. Thus, Atlas drove himself straight to the hospital to assess the situation.
Atlas slowed down in the hallway, catching sight of his uncle Stephen outside the ward with a few doctors. He stopped just a few steps away, giving Stephen and the physicians some privacy before the group of doctors bid their farewells.
“Hah!” Stephen huffed sharply, gazing at the doctors as they walked away, only to catch Atlas moving aside to give way. “You—what the hell are you doing here?!”
Filled with rage, Stephen marched up to Atlas and grabbed him by the collar. Pushing Atlas against the wall, he roared, “Why did you come in here, huh?!”
Atlas remained unfazed, looking at his furious relative coldly. “I am the head of the family, so I’m required to check on my family members.”
“Bullshit!” Stephen ground his teeth angrily, his eyes shining with malevolence, as if he were only a few inches away from throwing a punch. “My son did this to himself because of you! You framed him and humiliated him… if he had died, it’s on you! You pushed him to the edge, Atlas! You’re the reason he’s here!”
“Stephen?” Suddenly, the door from inside the private ward opened, revealing Stephen’s wife. “Stephen, stop that now!”
Mrs. Bennet rushed to the men’s side, gripping her husband’s arm to stop him. “Stephen! What are you doing?! Let Atlas go right this instant!”
However, her words fell on deaf ears as Atlas and Stephen continued their sharp gazes at each other.
“Atlas Bennet…” Stephen hissed. “You and your arrogance… I will never forgive you for what you’ve done to the people you’re supposed to protect as the head of the family.”
“Your son stole a document from me and used it to make negotiations. What happened to him is something he brought upon himself—”
“You brat! I’m going to kill you!”
“Stephen!”
Mrs. Bennet screamed when she saw her husband raise his fist, knowing what Atlas said was more than enough provocation for him. However, she wasn’t the one who called for Stephen to stop.
The person who stopped Stephen from assaulting Atlas was none other than Chairman Bennet.
Holding his fist in the air with his other hand gripping Atlas’s collar, Stephen held his breath. He could see a few figures approaching from the corner of his eye, but he didn’t break his stance. He wanted to punch Atlas and teach this brat a lesson.
“Stephen.” Chairman Bennet stopped a few feet away from Atlas and Stephen, frowning. “Stop that now. Assaulting the family head… do you not want to live anymore?!”
“He killed my son.”
“Sven is perfectly fine, Stephen! What are you saying?!”
Stephen hissed, his face twisting into a wicked expression. “The moment he trampled on my son’s spirit, Atlas Bennet killed my son’s spirit.”
“If throwing that punch will quell your anger, then be my guest,” Atlas remarked in the same flat tone. “However, that wouldn’t change the fact that the reason Sven was kicked out of the company was due to his greed.”
“You little—”
“Throw that punch at my son, and that’ll be the last time you use it!” Suddenly, another voice rang out, and they all knew who it was.
Chairman Bennet, along with a few of his relatives, looked behind, watching Charles march down the hallway all alone. However, even though Charles was by himself, his presence was enough to indicate he didn’t need a company to defuse the situation.
Charles stopped a step ahead of his father, glancing at the chairman without any pleasantries. He then cast a look at Stephen and then at Atlas.
“Atlas, stop talking,” said Charles, earning a faint click of Atlas’s tongue. Charles, however, didn’t care about that as he shifted his burning gaze to Stephen. “Let him go. Stephen, you and I both know that old bone in your arm will break even before that fist can land on my son.”
Stephen ground his teeth, hissing as he glared daggers at the man standing beside him.
“Stephen, honey.” His wife called nervously, tugging at his arm. “Just let Atlas go. I know the situation is difficult, and that Sven is still unconscious, but fighting will not resolve anything.”
“Listen to your wife, Stephen,” Charles warned. “Drop it.”

“You… hah!” Stephen’s grip on Atlas’s collar tightened as he stared at Charles before glancing at the chairman and a few other relatives. “Tch!”
After another moment, Stephen released Atlas with a heavy heart. But as he did, he glared daggers at him.
“Charles, what are you doing here? Haven’t you retired?” he asked derisively. “So why are you meddling in this affair now? Moreover, Atlas is the head of the family. Don’t tell me he needed saving? Having such a weak family head… now, I can’t help but wonder if he’s even worthy of being the head of this family.”
Charles snorted while Atlas casually tugged at his suit, smoothing it out. Meanwhile, Chairman Bennet huffed through clenched teeth.
“Atlas doesn’t need saving, boy,” Chairman Bennet huffed again, taking a step forward to enter the ward. “What Charles has done is not to save his son, but to save you. Do not underestimate the power of the head of this family just because he’d been giving you some face.”
The relatives who came with Chairman Bennet looked at each other and quietly followed him. Stephen’s wife offered a nervous smile to the chairman before leading him inside.
“Tss…” Stephen hissed, displeased with Chairman Bennet’s display of favoritism. He glared at Charles and then at Atlas. “You’re not needed here, Atlas Bennet. If you came here under the guise of being the family head, thankfully, my son is still alive. However, you can never take away or erase the memory of my son hanging in my mind.”
He sneered, taking a step to leave. But before he could follow, he glared at Charles. “Charles, don’t act so righteous. I’m sure if you were in my shoes, a punch wouldn’t suffice. You’re worse than me. Get out if you have the slightest decency and respect for our family.”
Having said that, Stephen walked away and entered the ward, leaving Atlas and Charles in the hallway. The father and son looked at each other, and without saying a word, Charles simply placed a hand on Atlas’s shoulder.
