Chapter 706: Is the third young master in trouble?
Atlas didn’t stay long, telling the officers who arrived at the scene that he had other matters to attend to. After filing a police report, he left with the driver.
“Are you okay?” Atlas asked, gazing at the man in the driver’s seat.
The middle-aged driver let out an airy laugh while nodding. “Yes, sir. I was just shocked by what happened, but I’m okay.”
“I’m sorry that happened.”
“It’s not your fault, sir,” the driver said with a subtle smile. “I’m just glad nothing bad happened to us. If that SUV had crashed into us…”
The driver trailed off, stopping abruptly, not wanting to think about what could have happened to him and Atlas. They didn’t need to guess; just the speed of the SUV alone would have cost them their lives. If not for the other car crashing into the SUV, stopping it, and tossing it off the road, that would have been their fate.
“Thank God,” the driver heaved a sigh of relief, thanking the heavens for the umpteenth time. “Sir, do you think the police will be able to catch the driver of the SUV?”
“I don’t know.” Atlas let out a deep exhale, snapping his gaze at the window. ‘I’m more interested in knowing who the person was that saved us.’
His hands balled into fists as he remembered the red, shiny car driving past them and straight into the SUV’s side. Although Atlas didn’t have the leisure to see the crash itself, he could tell it would have damaged the front of the sports car, just like the damage to the SUV’s side.
‘Slater…’ Atlas drew a deep breath and pulled out his phone to dial Slater’s number again. His hands were still trembling, remembering the life-and-death situation they had just experienced.
‘It’s probably just the same car,’ he told himself. ‘I’m sure Slater wouldn’t do that.’
Just as Atlas tried to convince himself that the car he saw coincidentally looked like Slater’s, he caught sight of his third brother’s billboard. Snapping his eyes up to get a better look at Slater’s charming face, he remembered the sentiments of the owner of the blue car.
‘Slater… what are you doing?’
This time, Atlas dialed his third brother’s phone number without hesitation. In his mind, if Slater answered, it would prove that it was just a coincidence. The car that saved them just looked like Slater’s, and the owner of the blue car was probably mistaken. Or perhaps, even if the owner of the blue car was not mistaken, Atlas could consider it as Slater being a busybody.
Ring… ring…
“The number you have dialed…”
“Shit,” Atlas hissed and redialed Slater’s number. But just like the first time, he was met with the operator’s voice. “Let’s go home.”
The driver snapped his gaze to the rearview mirror. “Sir?”
“Let’s go home.” Atlas offered him a short smile. “You should go home too.”
“Sir, I’m fine—”
“Consider this day the start of both our second lives. So, go home to your family and rest.” Atlas nodded reassuringly at the driver. “Let’s not force it and go on with our day as usual. I don’t think we should. Although we don’t have any injuries, I don’t think we should just get checked.”
The driver was touched by how considerate Atlas was toward him. Although Atlas was often aloof and serious, he had always shown concern for his people. It was just that normally, Allen would be the one telling the driver this, not Atlas.
“Yes, sir.” The driver nodded in understanding, refocusing on the road as he drove straight to the Bennet Mansion.
Over half an hour later, their car pulled up in the mansion’s driveway. Without a second thought, Atlas stepped out and walked away. Meanwhile, the driver hurried out of the driver’s seat.
“Sir Atlas!” called the driver, watching Atlas stop and look back at him. “Thank you.”
Atlas nodded at the driver and waved dismissively. “Go home.”
“Yes, sir.”
Atlas stared at the driver for a moment, unable to shake the slight guilt creeping into his chest. This old man could have lost his life because of the accident, which Atlas suspected was not just an accident.
‘Before I think of that… I need to see Slater first.’
With that thought in mind, Atlas turned and walked away. Jogging up the stairs to the front door, he caught Butler Jen stepping out.

“Young Master Atlas,” Butler Jen called, his voice slightly uncertain. “You’re back… early.”
Atlas stopped in front of him and asked, “Butler Jen, where’s Slater?”
“Huh?”
“I’ve been calling him, but he’s not answering his phone. Now, I can’t reach him,” Atlas explained. “Where is he?”
“Uh…” Butler Jen furrowed his brows, finding it odd that Atlas was looking for Slater in such a manner. “The third young master…”
“Did he leave?”
“Yes.”
“What time did he leave?”
“Early this morning… probably half an hour after you left.”
Atlas frowned and knitted his brows. “I see. Did he tell you where he was going?”
“No, Young Master Atlas.” Confused, Butler Jen tilted his head to the side. “Young Master Atlas, did the third young master do something? Is he in trouble?”
“No.” Atlas cleared his throat, offering Butler Jen a smile. “Never mind that. I just wanted to ask him something, but I’ll probably ask him later once he comes home.”
Having said that, Atlas tilted his head slightly before turning his back on Butler Jen. The latter, however, knitted his brows even deeper.
“Young Master Atlas, the third young master left this morning, but he’s already home,” said Butler Jen, watching as Atlas looked back at him with a complicated expression on his face. “If you want to ask him something, he’s in the kitchen.”
“In the kitchen?” Atlas repeated, and Butler Jen nodded in return. “What time did he return?”
“About an hour before you arrived?”
“I see.” Atlas rocked his head, feeling a little confused about the timeline. He forced a short smile again at Butler Jen. “Thank you, Butler Jen.”
With that, Atlas walked inside the mansion while Butler Jen couldn’t help but tilt his head to the side.
“I wonder…” Butler Jen hummed a long tune. “Just what did the third young master do this time for his first brother to look for him like that?”
