Chapter 707: Your gaze might dent it.
The table was laden with a feast of various sweets, yet only one person was munching through everything like a king. Despite the sugary spread, Slater’s face was as sour as an unripened tamarind.
“That bas—”
“Slater!”
Slater flinched when he heard Atlas’s voice ring out in the dining room. Turning his head toward the entrance, he arched a brow and watched his eldest brother storm straight toward him. He leaned back when Atlas stood very close, grabbing his arm and inspecting it closely.
Atlas checked Slater’s wrists and arms for any injuries or wounds, taking hold of his other arm to check as well. Given the severity of the accident, Slater should have had a bruise or some injury. But there was none.
“Uh… First Brother?” Slater asked, his voice filled with confusion. “What are you doing?”
Atlas snapped his eyes at Slater, drawing his lips into a thin line. “Where have you been?”
“Huh?”
“Where have you been?”
“Uh… somewhere?” Slater blinked, pulling his arms from his brother’s grip. “First Brother, why are you asking? Since when did you ask where I’ve been?”
Atlas drew a deep breath, trying to approach the matter calmly. “Where’s your car?”
“Why are you looking for my car now?” Slater frowned deeply this time. “First Brother, you’re acting very weird. You’re scaring me—Butler Jen! My brother is turning into a madman!”
Butler Jen, who had just followed Atlas into the kitchen to check on Slater, stopped at the entrance. He darted his eyes between Slater in the chair and Atlas standing beside him.
“Young Master Atlas,” called Butler Jen, confused. “What’s going on?”
However, Atlas ignored him and slammed his hand on the table. His action only made Slater jump in his seat in surprise, looking up at his brother with wide eyes.
“Slater, I’m asking you a simple question,” Atlas breathed out. “Let me see your car.”
“I don’t want to!”
“Why?”
“Why would I show you my car? It looks to me like you want to borrow it!” Slater hissed, now irritated with his first brother. He pushed himself away grumpily and stood in front of Atlas. “First Brother, why don’t you just tell me why you’re treating me like I’m some sort of troublemaker? As far as I know, the troublemakers in this house are now living in Zoren Pierson’s home!”
“I’ll tell you,” Atlas muttered under his breath, his eyes fixed on Slater. “But first, let me see your car. Why don’t you want to show it to me? Are you hiding something?”
Slater’s lips curved downward even more as he held Atlas’s gaze fearlessly. “Fine! I’ll show you my car! Tch! But you have to tell me why you’re acting like this later!” He rolled his eyes and stomped away, leading Atlas to the garage grumpily.
“He’s always like this when he’s on his period. Always picking on me—tch!” Slater grumbled, clearly displeased with his first brother. “I’ll tell Mom.”
Meanwhile, Atlas ignored all of Slater’s side comments as he followed him to the garage. He kept quiet, staring at Slater’s back the entire time. Right now, Slater was acting as usual. However, Atlas couldn’t shake the suspicion in his heart.
Not that he was angry with Slater, but he didn’t want Slater to be involved in any of this. Moreover, if the person who saved him in the car accident was Slater, then Atlas had to reevaluate how much he truly knew about his siblings.
One had a different personality when drunk, and then there was Slater.
Soon enough, Atlas found himself standing in front of the garage as Slater pulled up the roll-up door. The metal clanging echoed in their ears, but Atlas was unfazed. When it was fully open, his eyes landed on the dent-free, shiny red sports car.
“It looks ugly,” Atlas blurted out, causing Slater’s blood to boil.
“First Brother! Did you just threaten me with showing you my car only to say it’s ugly?!” Slater gasped in disbelief. “This is bullying! I’m being bullied by my own brother! Butler Jen, did you hear that?”
Butler Jen, who had followed the two out of worry, couldn’t hide the dismay on his face. He looked at Atlas in disbelief, not expecting that comment at all.
“First Young Master, I don’t think that’s going to help calm whatever situation is brewing here,” said Butler Jen, his concern evident.

“Oh… I said that out loud, huh?” Atlas blurted under his breath, making Slater gasp even more.
Ignoring his third brother, Atlas approached the red sports car. He bent slightly, touching the right front side of the vehicle.
‘It’s… squeaky clean,’ he thought, looking for any signs that it had been in a crash. ‘So, it was a coincidence, after all?’
Deep lines appeared between Atlas’s brows as he stared at the sports car. He didn’t need to look closely to ensure there were no damages. The crash should have wrecked the front side of the car, and Slater couldn’t have had it repaired that quickly.
“Tsk!” Slater crossed his arms under his chest, still displeased as he watched his brother inspect his car. “So much for calling it ugly when you can’t even take your eyes off it, First Brother. Just in case you’re thinking of borrowing it like Penny, no can do, okay?! That antic won’t work here anymore!”
Butler Jen smiled wryly at the third young master, recalling how Penny used to criticize his car only to borrow it later. She only stopped “borrowing” Slater’s car without permission when her motorbike arrived and when she moved in with Zoren.
“First Brother, are you done admiring my car now?” Slater inquired irritably as Atlas continued to scrutinize the vehicle. “Please stop looking. Your gaze might dent it.”
“Looking at it will not dent it, but it might likely blind the person looking,” Atlas casually retorted, as he peeled his gaze from the vehicle to his brother. “I need to talk to you.”
“I don’t want to talk to you, though. I’m upset.”
Atlas disregarded that tantrum as he glanced at Butler Jen. The latter, getting the hint, lowered his head and excused himself. Watching Butler Jen leave, Atlas then turned to face his third brother again. However, Slater also turned to leave, not in the mood to talk to his mean first brother.
“Slater,” he called, huffing out the tension in his chest. “I met the owner of the blue car to get a copy of his dashcam from the night of Allen’s accident. And he… he mentioned you.”
Atlas paused, watching Slater come to a halt. “Why did you ask for a copy?”
