Chapter 728: What a wicked plan, what a wicked person.
Sven wasn’t the type to stop or shut up; even with handcuffs, he struggled and fought against the officers. The officers simply ignored him—used to this kind of behavior—and dragged him out of the hospital while Atlas talked to the detective.
“Here’s the rest of the evidence.” Atlas handed the USB stick to the detective. “I’ll be sending my lawyer your way. He’ll be at the station.”
The detective accepted the USB and nodded at him in understanding. “Are you alright, Mr. Bennet?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” Atlas let out a sigh, glancing at the sliding door. “He’s going to be fine now.”
“Then I’ll be on my way.” The officer nodded at Atlas, but before he left, he spoke again. “Mr. Bennet, about the nurse you caught… she’s not talking anymore.”
Atlas raised his brows, but not out of surprise. “I’m pressing charges against everyone involved and on behalf of the patient.”
“Alright.” The detective lowered his head a bit. “Have a good night.”
Having said that, the detective walked away to follow his men to the station. As he walked away, he stopped again as Atlas called out.
“Detective, thank you for listening to me,” Atlas expressed. “And for your timely assistance. Thank you.”
The detective smiled and nodded before resuming his steps.
Meanwhile, Atlas remained standing in the same spot and sighed heavily. He hung his head low, running his hand through his hair as the emotions he had squashed down earlier escaped from where they had been buried, like a Pandora’s box being opened.
His knees felt weak and wobbly, his body shaking a little as his heart raced. He was almost hyperventilating, unsure if this was out of relief or fear at what he had witnessed.
“Sir Atlas?” the bodyguard near him approached, his arms ready to catch Atlas if he fell. “Are you alright?”
Atlas simply grabbed the bodyguard’s shoulder, snapping his gaze at him. “Mhm. I’m alright.” Yet his complexion told the bodyguard otherwise.
“Good work.” Atlas patted the bodyguard’s shoulder. “I’m just going to rest, but I’m fine.”
After saying that, Atlas dragged his feet to the sliding door. The bodyguards lowered their heads as Atlas walked past them until he reached Allen’s room. When he closed the door behind him, Atlas slid down until he slumped on the floor, the back of his head resting against the door.
“Goodness,” he breathed out, resting his arm on his knee, eyes on the bed. “I can’t believe he was capable of doing this.”
Even though Atlas knew that Sven was insecure and problematic, he would have never fathomed that Sven would resort to this. It was unbelievable, and if Atlas had been late, Allen would have died.

Two hours ago…
“Sven Bennet… now you’ve really done it.” Atlas’s breathing slowed as his dilated eyes remained fixed on the monitor. After a second, the lines between his brows deepened as a thought crossed his mind. “Which hospital was he admitted to again?”
A moment later, his heart thudded as an ominous idea took shape. Without wasting a second, Atlas rose to his feet in a hurry, picking up his blazer and taking his phone out along with the USB stick.
“Detective,” he spoke on the phone. “I think Allen is in danger. Someone is trying to kill him. Please come to the hospital.”
After hanging up, Atlas rushed to the parking garage. He found it strange that Sven would try to take his own life. After all, Sven was the most self-centered person he had ever known.
Sven wasn’t the type to back down. He would rather die than admit defeat.
Deep in Atlas’s heart, he was hopeful that getting kicked out of the company would be enough for Sven to reflect on his actions. He thought that the failed self-exit would give Sven some time to reconsider his behavior and change. At the end of the day, Atlas didn’t harbor a grudge against his cousin. If anything, Atlas was hopeful that this could mark the beginning of a supportive relationship between them.
Just like Charles and Haines, Atlas was hopeful that his relationship with Sven could recover.
But tonight, Atlas was certain it would never recover—not after Sven made the choice he did. And Sven’s self-exit? Atlas wasn’t naïve; he pieced everything together as he drove to the hospital at maximum speed.
Sven had tried to harm himself but had made sure his parents would find him. If he was admitted to the same hospital where Allen was, that would buy him an alibi. It was a clever idea. It was less suspicious for Sven to be there as a patient than as a visitor.
Atlas’s heart raced, his mind nearly going into overdrive. He didn’t know how he got to the hospital so fast, but he didn’t dwell on it. Instead, he wasted no time tightening Allen’s security and waiting for the officer to arrive.

But when the officers came, they informed Atlas that the dashcam footage was insufficient evidence to make an arrest. Thus, Atlas devised a plan.
It wasn’t to frame Sven; the officers wouldn’t allow that. The plan arose when one of the bodyguards he hired reported that a suspicious individual had been sighted around the hospital. With that, Atlas and the detectives agreed to see what would happen.
Of course, they couldn’t put Allen in further danger. So, Atlas ordered his men to ambush this person, and they found a vial of high-dosage potassium. Fortunately, the individual claimed she was only asked to deliver the vial to someone.
That someone was Sven.
The detectives replaced the vial with a harmless substitute that wouldn’t affect Allen even if injected, and the plan was set in motion. As expected, Sven took the bait, carrying out his twisted plan. Everything was recorded; the moment Sven left his ward and went to change into the nurse’s uniform up to the time he injected that medicine, knowing it would kill Allen.
It was painfully clear that Sven intended to end Allen’s life, to ensure he would never speak once he woke up.
What a wicked plan, what a wicked person.
