Chapter 733: He’s not the one I need.
Meanwhile…
“Sven Bennet was caught, and as expected, he didn’t say anything other than admitting to the crime.” A man whispered into another man’s ear before straightening up politely.
The man he reported to nodded thoughtfully. “Is that so?”
“Will it be alright, Master?” the first man asked, a bit worried. “Or should I send someone to silence him behind bars?”
“There’s no need for that,” replied the boss, smirking. “I’ve always known Sven Bennet wouldn’t last. He’s not the one I need.”
The first man gazed at his boss, then lowered his head respectfully. “Is that so?”
The boss smirked again, swirling the glass of rum in his hand. “Poor little Sven. Send him my regards. I’d like to thank him for his… services.”
“Yes, sir.”
“And that man… reward him for his help. If it weren’t for his dashcam footage, none of this would have happened. Tell him I appreciate his cooperation — and that I don’t want to see him again.”
“Yes, sir.”
With that, the first man lowered his head and walked away quietly to carry out the orders. Left alone in the room, the boss’s lips curled into a sinister smirk.
“Atlas Bennet… and surprisingly, Slater Bennet is up to something strange,” he murmured, bringing his glass of rum to his mouth. He savored a mouthful, swishing it before swallowing.
Knock knock.
A knock on the door was followed by a slight creak as it opened.
“Darling?” Peeking her head in, Cassandra scanned the room. When her gaze fell upon the man seated in the wingback chair, her lips stretched into a wide smile. She stepped inside, practically skipping, and settled herself on his lap.
Wrapping her arms around his neck, she fluttered her eyelashes playfully. “Jo, wouldn’t you come to see me if I didn’t visit you? I’m a little disappointed.”
Jonathan squinted slightly, smiling as he looked at her. “I’m sorry. Things have been… a bit much for me lately.”
“Aww,” Cassandra pouted with a smile. “It’s okay; I understand. Do you need any help? You know I can always help you if you need it, right?”
“Hmm… I know, but not at the moment.” Jonathan smiled. “Cassy, I heard about your ex…”
He trailed off when she suddenly poked his chest. “What?” he asked, seeing the playful look on her face.
“Are you jealous?” she teased. “Is that why you haven’t texted me since I mentioned I was worried about Finn?”
“Haha…” He let out a weak laugh, tilting his head slightly. “Was there no reason for me to be jealous?”
“Babe, I already told you, didn’t I?” Cassandra sighed softly, looking him in the eyes. “My engagement with Finn was arranged by our elders, but we’re just good friends now. There’s nothing you should worry about.”
“Finn is a good friend of mine,” she repeated reassuringly. “Besides, he was in an accident. Anyone who knew him would be worried. I heard it was bad enough that he was in a coma. I want to visit him, but my schedule’s been packed. However, if you’re reluctant and not comfortable with it, then I won’t visit him.”
“It’s not that I’m not allowing you to visit him.” Jonathan studied her face before sighing. “It’s just that… I can’t help but wonder why did you look so pleased when you heard his engagement was called off?”
“I wasn’t pleased,” she frowned. “I was just teasing him. Besides, I was a little worried about him. You know Nina is part of the Bennet family — I’ve mentioned them to you a few times, haven’t I?”
“You have.”
“That’s why,” she continued, “I was worried. Finn’s a good friend, but I know he can be complicated. If he wasn’t serious about Nina, I’m sure the Bennets wouldn’t take it lightly. They’re quite protective of each other.”
“I see.” Jonathan nodded, watching her innocent expression. “Are you sure that’s all?”
“Why else would I be worried, hmm?”

He pressed his lips into a thin smile. “If you say so, then I believe you.”
“Hehe. Then, we’re good now?”
“We were never bad.”
“Hehe. I know.” Cassandra leaned closer, hugging him sweetly. “Aww… I missed you so much. I was starting to worry about us, you know? What a meanie.”
Jonathan chuckled, patting her back lightly. But his eyes glinted as his eyelids drooped slightly. “Cassy, you mentioned the Bennets… what do you think of them?”
“Hmm?” Cassandra pulled back, tilting her head. “I don’t know much about them, aside from Atlas and Penny.”
“Atlas?”
“Mhm. He was my classmate in the Star Section — very smart and laser-focused, that guy. He’s still the same, considering the waves he’s been making recently.” She huffed. “I’m not close with him, though.”
“And Penny Bennet? How do you know her? Were you classmates with her too?” he asked, tilting his head. “You hadn’t mentioned that.”
“Hehe.” Cassandra chuckled. “Well, Penny was supposed to be my classmate, but she ended up graduating ahead of all of us.”
“Oh?”
“She’s very smart and very cute, you know? I like her a lot, but she scares me a little.”
“And why does she scare you? Isn’t she younger?”
Her brows rose as she looked into Jonathan’s curious eyes. She thought of all the shared memories she had of Penny, but there were too many. After all, Cassandra was a member of Penny’s fan club — though mostly because of Ray. Even so, she had always liked Penny, who was adorable as a child.
But now that Cassandra was learning about the family business, she heard about Penny and her company, the Prime Group. She wasn’t surprised because she always knew Penny would reach great heights with her intelligence.
“Just because,” Cassandra shrugged, chuckling, too lazy to explain further. “Why are you asking? You seem… interested in the Bennets.”
Jonathan smiled slowly, noticing the curiosity in her eyes. “Cassy, there’s something I need to tell you,” he said, taking her hand. “I’m telling you now, so it won’t surprise you later.”
“What is it?” She furrowed her brows, puzzled by his tone.
Jonathan kept smiling before speaking. “There’s another reason I came to Anteca,” he revealed quietly. “I found my family — my biological family. And since then, my life has been in danger. Penelope Bennet… has been associated with my family. I was told I should be careful of her.”
