Chapter 738: Just added vitamins
Even though Zoren could keep a straight face while eating Penny’s cooking, he couldn’t keep it up for long. He was sweating, and his complexion steadily paled, revealing his discomfort. However, Atlas was different.
Since Atlas had arrived very early, he was already eating by the time Penny called everyone for breakfast.
“Since today is a big day for everyone, I prepared this little breakfast to boost your strength and energy!” Penny announced cheerfully, gathering everyone around. “I’m sure you’ll all be very busy today, so eat well!”
Atlas raised his brows, holding his fork as he noticed his plate was already half-finished. He glanced at everyone, squinting as he noticed their aghast expressions. They all stared at their plates with horror, reluctance evident in their eyes.
‘Why are they looking at the food as if it were poison?’ he wondered, unable to understand their reactions. ‘The food is good, even for a picky eater like me.’
Was the food Penny prepared last night a new dish that she might have messed up a bit? That was the only explanation Atlas could come up with.
Atlas took a spoonful and ate it, noticing that everyone was watching him. “It’s good,” he encouraged. “You should eat it since Penny prepared it out of the goodness of her heart.”
“Don’t be shy,” Penny chuckled playfully before turning to her husband. “Renren, come on, eat up. It’s very special.”
Zoren smiled and nodded at her, but didn’t say anything further. Instead, he cleared his throat and picked up his cutlery, bracing himself. In his mind, he told himself he would eventually get used to it.
Meanwhile, everyone else was looking at Atlas in disbelief. They were concerned about Zoren, but they couldn’t believe Atlas and his betrayal.
‘How can he eat this food?’ they wondered. ‘It doesn’t even look like he’s forcing it.’
Unlike Zoren, Atlas seemed to be genuinely enjoying the food. At this point, they could only assume that Atlas’s taste buds were as unusual as Penny’s. Unless he had no sense of taste, that might explain it. But Slater, who was sitting beside Atlas and knew how picky his First Brother was, found it especially confusing.
If Slater was picky, Atlas was even pickier.
“First… Brother,” Slater called, sitting right beside him. His question, however, drew everyone’s attention. “How is it?”
“It’s good.” Atlas nodded approvingly. “No kidding.”
Everyone furrowed their brows, watching for any sign that Atlas might be deceiving them. This was what Zoren had done last night, so they expected Atlas might be faking it, too. But Atlas calmly took another spoonful, looking back at them as he ate.
“It’s good…?” Benjamin, who had come only to pick up his boss, almost cried as he found himself trapped with Penny’s cooking.
“Mhm.” Atlas nodded again, looking more confused.
By this point, everyone was baffled by Atlas, while Atlas was equally confused by their reactions.
“Ahem!” Zoren cleared his throat and resumed eating. Just as usual, he took a bite, his expression unchanged.
Seeing Zoren eat without any reaction didn’t encourage the others. Still, with Atlas seemingly enjoying the food without a problem, they began to have second thoughts.
What if it was actually good?
Maybe last night was just a bad batch, but this morning, Penny had perfected the recipe.
Who knew?
The food looked as good as it had last night, so maybe this time it tasted good, too?
Everyone convinced themselves it might not be as bad as they feared. With hopeful hearts, they gulped and held their cutlery, taking their first bites.
SLAM!
Suddenly, Slater slammed his hands on the table and hunched over, covering his mouth as his face paled. He felt as though he might throw up.
‘It’s horrible,’ he thought, his heart pounding as he fought off the urge to vomit. ‘It’s just as bad as last night.’
Slater wasn’t the only one reacting; everyone else was, too. But unlike last night, when they had managed to lie and praise Penny, they simply couldn’t this time.

“Huh?” Atlas furrowed his brows, confused. “What’s wrong with everyone?”
“Hehe. They probably liked it so much that they’re crying,” Penny giggled, glancing at her brother. “Don’t mind them. They were like this last night, too.”
“Last night, too??” Atlas raised an eyebrow. ‘Aren’t they overreacting? The food is good, but this is a little over the top.’
His eyes landed on Slater, and he cocked his head. “Slater, it’s good, isn’t it?”
‘Good?’ Slater froze, his mind blank as his survival instincts kicked in. Slowly, he raised his head, looking at his brother with wide eyes. “Good?”
“Mhm.” Atlas nodded. “But I don’t think it’s enough to make someone cry.”
“First Brother, how could you—”
“It’s horrible!” Nathaniel, who couldn’t take it anymore, cried out, tears welling in his eyes. He jumped up and rushed over to Penny, kneeling and rubbing his hands together as he pleaded, “Miss Penny, I’ll dig! I’ll uproot the entire garden if you want me to! Please! I can’t take any more of this! I’ll die if I eat more of it!”
Penny’s brows knit together in confusion. She had invited Nathaniel just because there was plenty of food. It wasn’t like she was torturing him.
“What is this clown saying?” she mumbled, scanning the group, only to notice their pale complexions. “Huh? Was it not good?”
“It’s good,” Atlas replied, looking at everyone with genuine puzzlement. “I don’t understand why everyone’s acting like this.”
Since Nathaniel had broken down, Slater joined in. “First Brother, how can you lie like that?! You don’t have to encourage Penny — look at her husband! He’s on the brink of vomiting his own blood!”
“What?” Penny panicked, turning to Zoren in worry. “Hubby, is it really that bad?”
Zoren didn’t answer right away. He looked slowly at her, then directed his gaze to Atlas.
“It’s good?” he asked Atlas.
Atlas nodded. “Yes. I’m even surprised Penny can cook. I don’t understand the drama.”
“Drama? Hah! First Brother, there’s a limit to deception—” Slater’s words died as Atlas stuffed a piece of meat into his mouth. Slater’s brows shot up, then furrowed.
“What the…” he muttered, surprised as he chewed and swallowed it without a problem. “It’s… good.”
Everyone looked at him in bewilderment.
“Huh?” Slater looked between his plate and Atlas. They were eating the same dish, but the taste was completely different. And then it hit him. “First Brother, where did you get this food?”
“From the pot.” Atlas tilted his head. “I was eating before she finished serving.”
“What?” everyone gasped. Before they could process it, Slater jumped from his seat and rushed into the kitchen. They watched him grab a clean spoon, scoop straight from the pot, and cautiously taste it.
Slater’s face lit up in surprise as he turned to everyone at the table.
“It’s good,” he said, realizing this was where Penny had originally served the food. “Penny, what did you do to ours? Were you trying to poison us all?”
“Poison?” Penny scoffed. “Why would I poison you and my husband?”
“Then why does it taste so different?!”
“Third Brother, can I?” Just then, Angel approached Slater’s side, and he moved aside eagerly. Angel tasted the food from the pot, his eyes widening.
It was delicious.
This was the same dish they had barely been able to swallow earlier.
Slowly, Angel and the others turned to Penny. She blinked, looking at them with a frown.
“Why are you all looking at me like that?” she murmured. “I just added some vitamins for extra nutrients. It’s not that bad — Ginnie told me it’s effective. It’s not like I was trying to poison you all.”
