Chapter 820: Uncle, are you looking for this?
According to the pharmacist, who was also part of the special unit Slater belonged to, this drug could be mixed into a liquid as it had dissolving properties. It could be added to food or a drink, and the person who consumed it would instantly feel as if they were having a heart attack.
It was just that, there was no waking up.
Just half of it was enough, but an entire tablet was a sure kill. Moreover, if the victim was old—like Chairman Bennet—there would be no way to save them. It was a weapon in drug form, and obtaining it wasn’t easy. Interpol had been investigating it, and because of this drug’s sudden boost in the black market recently, there was a special collaboration of other agencies to track down its main source.
Slater mulled it over for a moment, but his mind was mostly focused on one thing: How did Stephen Bennet get his hands on them?
“One pill is worth millions, but Stephen Bennet has ten of them,” he whispered. “Even if he has a lot of money, buying this would drain his pockets.”
Slater’s face darkened as he thought about this.
Stephen likely didn’t buy it. Someone else must have given it to him. Who wasn’t the question anymore. Even what Stephen would do with it wasn’t the question.
“First Sven…” Slater whispered. “But I guess it’s Stephen they wanted in the end.”
Slater might’ve been quiet all this time, but he had been looking into Sven’s case since Atlas caught him. Although Slater was surprised that Atlas managed to catch on so quickly without any training, he had always known something was off.
He felt it in the pit of his stomach when Sven suddenly confessed.
That guy would deny everything even if caught red-handed. That was how shameless he was. Yet, not only did he confess, but he didn’t complain about anything.
“It’s a good thing I requested that he be moved to the state prison even before his sentencing date,” Slater sighed in relief. “In there, I can ask someone to watch him.”
After all, Slater knew what power could do. If someone put a hit on Sven’s head, he would most likely die in his cell. Slater didn’t want that guy dead… yet. If anything, he needed Sven until he was ready to talk.
In other words, Sven still had value.

Hours later…
“Where is it?” Stephen panicked, searching his office for something. “It’s not here.”
His complexion turned ashen as his eyes went wide. He had already left the office and arrived home when he realized something was missing. Initially, he searched his home frantically, making everyone look for a small, lean, white pill bottle.
He even searched his car, but it wasn’t there. So, Stephen had no choice but to drive himself back to the office because his driver had already gone home. These were the only places he had been.
“I thought I felt it when I left the Old Residence,” he murmured, touching his blazer and checking his inner pockets. “How come…”
Stephen’s breath hitched as he realized there was another place he had gone that day: the Bennet’s Old Residence. His complexion turned even paler as his knees felt weak, soft as tofu. Stephen stumbled back a little, reaching out for his desk to steady himself.
“Did it fall there?” he wondered, horror slowly spreading across his face. “How could I… but I remember putting it in my pocket.”
But then again, Stephen barely had the time to hide it because the chairman was already walking up to him. Not to mention, Charles came right after, and then that annoying Slater Bennet. It was possible that while Stephen was putting it in his pocket, he didn’t realize it didn’t go all the way in.
Moreover, Chairman Bennet was too harsh and cruel, leaving Stephen with a heavy heart. Adding to that, Charles’s attempt to console him filled him with rage. Stephen’s mind was so full of different thoughts that it took him an entire day to realize the lethal bottle of pills was missing.
“Oh, god…” Stephen held his head as he felt a throb of pain. “Why is this happening to me?”
Stephen remained in that pose for several minutes, calming his breathing to stabilize his heart. If he didn’t calm down, he might end up becoming ill. After all, Slater had already pointed out that Stephen had lost weight. And it hadn’t been that long since Sven was arrested and those people contacted him.
“I have to find them,” he told himself. “They told me those drugs are rare and important, so I should use them carefully.”
His face crumpled in dismay as he pinched the bridge of his nose. He glanced at the digital clock on his desk. It was already late—three hours before midnight—and the chairman was surely asleep.
‘I’ll just tell them I forgot something and retrieve it without alerting the chairman,’ he reasoned, convinced there would be no problem going back to the Old Residence. Even if he was found, he could easily say that he disowned Sven and came back to inform the chairman about that.
Stephen could use any excuse—anything! But he needed that bottle with him.

With that thought in mind, Stephen dashed out of his office and drove himself to the Bennet’s Old Residence.
As planned, he told the butler that he had forgotten something and came to retrieve it. The butler didn’t think much of it, even when Stephen told him not to mention it to the chairman, explaining that the chairman wouldn’t be too happy about it, considering the situation.
But alas…
“Where is it?” Stephen panicked, having already rummaged through all the couches, even though he hadn’t sat on them, but couldn’t find the one he was looking for. “This is impossible. I’ve already searched everywhere. It should be here!”
Thinking he had just missed it the first time, Stephen checked the couch again and even under it. However, it wasn’t there. No matter how he slipped his fingers into every corner—even though it was impossible for it to get in there—it wasn’t there.
“Could it be that the maids cleaned it up already?” he wondered to himself, panting, his hands on the couch cushion. Having that thought in mind, Stephen pushed himself up to ask the butler about it. He should’ve done that in the first place, but when he turned, he flinched when he saw someone leaning by the door.
Slater.
“Uncle, are you looking for this?” Slater smiled, holding the pill bottle Stephen had been searching for all night.
“You—” Stephen clenched his teeth angrily, stomping his feet toward Slater. He reached out his hand to snatch the bottle, grumbling, “I’ve been looking for that, you little brat—”
THUD!
Stephen’s voice caught in his throat as he felt a hand suddenly grab him by the collar and push him back. Everything happened so fast that the next thing he knew, his back hit the wall near the door, with Slater’s arm pressed across his throat.
“Uncle…” Slater’s bright smile remained until it slowly and steadily disappeared, replaced by a deadly look. “… are you actually looking for this?”
