Chapter 866: Shouldn’t be surprising
“Miss President and even Nina aren’t comfortable with your presence. Please leave.”
“That’s right!” another man remarked. “It doesn’t matter if you have the ticket or not. I don’t think having you here is good.”
“We’ve all been working and helping each other before everyone starts coming. However, since you arrived, we all have to stop and delay our work.”
“Just leave, Patricia. Go help your brother and the Miller family recover from their losses.”
Patricia arched a brow, turning her head toward Jonathan and the other men standing nearby. Her face twisted in displeasure, especially when someone mentioned her good-for-nothing brother and their company losses. As if she cared about that.
“I know them…” she said, sliding her finger across the men until it settled on Jonathan. “… but I don’t know you. Who are you?”
Jonathan straightened his back and sighed. “I’m just nobody.”
“I know you are,” Patricia scoffed, ignoring the men as she shifted her gaze back to the women. “How is it my fault that you’re delaying your work? I only came here to say my greetings, but everyone is overreacting!”
Lily clenched her teeth, balling her hands into tight fists. “Patricia, did you come here just to twist everything and provoke everyone?”
“How is it provoking? I haven’t even said a word, but here you all are, hounding me just because of her!” Patricia hissed, glaring at Nina. “If someone is making someone uncomfortable, it’s Nina. She’s making me uncomfortable.”
This time, Jonathan stepped forward until he was standing a step from Patricia. “Miss, that’s enough.”
“Huh?” Patricia arched a brow, looking up at Jonathan. Unlike before, when he had looked polite, he now appeared displeased.
Deep lines appeared between Patricia’s brows as she darted her eyes between Nina and Jonathan. After a brief moment, the corners of her mouth curled into a smile.
“Patricia, if you’re here, then… I’ll just leave—” Nina stopped when Patricia suddenly laughed.
“Oh, my god!” Patricia clapped her hands, looking at Nina and Jonathan with amusement. “You two… don’t tell me… wow! Nina, you moved on fast!”
“Patricia, what are you on about now?!” Lily yelled.
“You better shut up,” Yuri warned, but Patricia ignored her.
Patricia had come to cause trouble and, of course, for the money she could get from it. She’d learned long ago—right after the charity event—that since her good-for-nothing family was slowly losing their game, the people she had called friends were all useless.
Patricia only had herself to maintain a lavish lifestyle. So, even if she had to be the villain, she would do it. Besides, causing trouble for Nina wasn’t all that bad. She hated Nina from the bottom of her heart, so if there was a chance to stir trouble for her, Patricia would happily do so. Not only would she be able to torment Nina—the very first person who had betrayed her—but she’d earn from it too.
“Mr. Nobody.” Patricia snapped her eyes at Jonathan. “It seems you care for Nina… Have you heard that she just broke up with her ex-fiance? I don’t want to say it, but Nina shouldn’t have brought you here. I mean, people might mistake or misunderstand that she left her long-time fiance for another man.”
“Patricia!” This time, Nina raised her voice and stepped forward. “Don’t put malice in my relationship with Mr. Russel. If you came here to stir trouble for me, don’t drag others into it.”
“Miss, even if other people think that way, they are just people with malicious minds,” Jonathan added calmly, though his frown was evident. “I’m simply stepping in because the situation is very uncomfortable for everyone.”
“And “everyone” includes me,” Patricia returned, arching a brow at Jonathan.
Jonathan forced a smile. “Then, if you’re uncomfortable, shouldn’t you just leave?”
“That’s right! If you’re so uncomfortable, why don’t you just leave?” Lily barked. “Just go!”
“Leave,” Yuri added, trying to keep her cool, as it was almost time for everyone to arrive.
“You are all taking this wrong!” Patricia yelled. “Why should I leave when it’s obvious who’s making everyone uncomfortable? This wouldn’t have happened if Nina weren’t here!”
Jonathan let out a scoff, about to say something, when Nina reached out for his arm. Looking back at her, all he saw was Nina shaking her head. She didn’t need to say anything; anyone could tell she didn’t want Jonathan to get involved further. Her intention was to spare him from dealing with Patricia, and Nina didn’t want him to get mixed up in this trouble for her.
She appreciated it, but at the same time, she’d rather not have him involved any further. However, Jonathan had already been involved the moment he spoke.
“Tch. Look at the two of you,” Patricia mused, smirking maliciously. “Nina, you really amuse me.”

She paused, watching Nina and Jonathan look back at her. “Nina, I thought that traitorous side of you was gone. But it seems even if you claim to have turned into an angel with heavenly wings, you’re still the same as ever. How could you betray Finn like that?”
“You—” This time, Yuri couldn’t contain herself anymore and grabbed Patricia by the collar. “You better shut up now, or I’ll make you.”
“Why would I?” Unfazed by the warning she’d just earned, Patricia spat. Despite being grabbed by the collar, she turned to Nina with an arched brow. “Nina, does your new lover know what you’re capable of?”
“What do you mean?” Jonathan blurted, which made Patricia smile happily.
“Like I mentioned, she—” Before Patricia could finish, Yuri’s fist flew quickly toward Patricia’s face.
Yuri didn’t care anymore, having realized this wouldn’t end just by asking Patricia to shut up. However, before Yuri’s fist could land, the former members of the varsity team grabbed her and pulled her away from Patricia.
“Let me go!” Yuri roared. “I’m going to straighten that tongue of hers!”
“Miss Yuri, please don’t resort to violence!” one of the people holding Yuri exclaimed.
“She’s just provoking all of us—don’t let her!”
“Miss Yuri, calm down!”
At least three people were holding Yuri back from beating Patricia into smithereens. Meanwhile, Patricia scoffed and tugged at her dress. “Why are you all so scared of me talking? Why? Hah! What a hypocrite!”
“It’s not like what I’m saying is a lie!” she continued, setting her eyes back on Nina and Jonathan. “I mean, replacing her ex-fiance with another man shouldn’t be surprising at all! After all, Nina was capable of framing her best friend just because she was caught attempting to kill someone!”
“What?” Jonathan furrowed his brows, while Nina’s entire body froze.
Patricia smirked. “That’s right. Nina attempted to kill someone in the past, and when she was caught, she framed me—the only person who had believed in her—so I could take the fall for her.”
