Chapter 879: I never thought school could be fun.
“Ahem, ahem! Mic check!” Lily tapped the microphone, wincing as the sharp echo suddenly assaulted her ears. When she turned to the side, she saw one of the “students” give her a thumbs up.
She smiled and nodded, looking ahead, noticing that most people had turned their attention to the stage where she was standing. “I guess we all had plenty of time to catch up with each other, but for now, let’s focus here first.”
Everyone smiled at the person on stage, their expressions soft. No matter how most of them had drifted apart after high school, being back in this place and surrounded by the people they used to see every single day put everyone in a nostalgic, calming mood.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone who has come today. I know all of you are busy with your own lives, and some of you had to cancel important appointments just to be here,” Lily said sincerely. “I really appreciate you coming, and for those who couldn’t make it, I’m sure you wanted to be here, but I understand this reunion was a little too abrupt to fit into your schedule.”
Lily paused, smiling in front of everyone with a twinkle in her eyes. Although there were people who couldn’t make it today, the gymnasium was almost half-filled. Considering how massive the fan club used to be, this number was already plenty.
“It’s been over a decade, but… let’s all have fun today!” she announced. “Today’s surprise theme is: Going Back in Time. As of today, it’s the year 2010, the first-ever official assembly of Penny’s fan club!”
At the same time, pictures of the fan club from thirteen years ago flashed behind her. A beautiful smile spread across everyone’s faces as they watched slides of their younger selves one by one.
“Thirteen years ago, this fan club was formed out of mere admiration Ginnie and I had for Penny. Thanks to the Bennet Brothers and all those who helped us recruit more members, our first General Assembly was beyond successful,” Lily continued, speaking into the microphone with a persuasive voice, watching the slides behind her with a smile.
Perhaps it was the ambiance or the pictures, but people started feeling a little emotional.
“When I started this fan club, the thirteen-year-old me was simply thinking of my friend’s popularity,” Lily shared. “But then, what we got was a lot more than just support and popularity.”
As the background pictures showed members helping each other at charity events, studying together, and participating in activities that showcased their unity, Lily continued.
“Friendships were formed, animosity was diverted into friendly and healthy competition, and above all, unbreakable bonds were established,” she added, her eyes shining as she remembered the past. She never thought that Ginnie and Penny would become her best friends for life. “Today is a day to reminisce. Although I know we’ve all grown older with our own responsibilities and worries, I hope that even for just a day, we can all look back on the past and experience… the freedom, the carefreeness, the youth we once had, and the unity we once shared.”
Upon hearing this, some couldn’t help but tear up. Others hugged each other while crying, some wiped their eyes secretly. A few managed to hold back their tears, and the very last few didn’t feel anything at all… like Atlas.
Lily drew a deep breath and smiled widely after wiping the corner of her eyes. “Today, not only do we have a party, but there’s also a list of activities—activities we all used to do—to forget the present and just live in the past, even if just for today.”
Many nodded at Lily with tears in their eyes and smiles on their faces.
“And before we begin, I’d like to invite our dearest Penny to the stage.” Lily spread her arm to the side. “Penny, can you give us a word of encouragement?”
Everyone slowly shifted their eyes to the corner of the stage where Lily’s hand pointed. However, Penny didn’t come out immediately, and their brows began to furrow.
Meanwhile, Penny, who was hiding on the side, had already resigned to her fate. She sighed heavily, peeking over the border that blocked her from view. The moment she did, she saw Atlas standing in the front with a grim expression.
“First Brother!” she whispered-yelled. “First Brother!”
Atlas furrowed his brows, turning his eyes to the corner, only to see his sister peeking her head over the board.
“What is she…?” he trailed off, narrowing his eyes, reading his sister’s lips. He mouthed what she was saying under his breath: “Watch… me?”
Atlas narrowed his eyes further as Penny pulled her head back out of view. “What is she up to now?” he wondered to himself, no longer in the mood because of Hugo, who had dragged him to the front to make sure Penny “felt” their support.
“I don’t feel good about this,” Atlas murmured to himself. “Hugo, can you check on your sister and find out what evil plan she’s cooking up for me?”
“Huh?” Hugo furrowed his brows as he glanced at Atlas, only to hear Lily announce as if she were simply declaring a mascot’s appearance, “Penny!”
When Hugo turned his head, he heard a loud thud from the direction Penny was supposed to come from. When she finally appeared, not just the Bennets, but everyone’s face twitched.
Penny came in… rolling — on the floor.
Her arms were raised over her head while someone rolled her across the floor until she was in the middle. She looked like a barrel being rolled while everyone was there to watch in total silence. They could almost imagine her squeaking.
“I feel like I’m going to faint,” Atlas pinched the bridge of his nose, his ears as red as cherries. “What is wrong with her?”
Hugo, on the other hand, was too stunned to think straight. Whether he was shocked or simply amazed by his sister’s entrance, he wasn’t sure. Slater, who was standing behind them along with the basketball team, gasped in disbelief. Mark, who was beside him, was simply horrified.
Even Lily, who had seen Penny prepare, jolted in surprise. But after a second, when Penny lay on her stomach with her hand propped on her chin, Lily jumped and squatted beside her, holding the microphone in front of Penny’s mouth.

“First Brother, you should try this bodysuit. It’s… AMAZING.”
Atlas, still pinching his nose, wished he could melt into the floor. He shouldn’t have started this because, for sure, Penny wouldn’t stop dragging him into everything.
And just like that, the party began, with no one questioning Penny. In a way, they weren’t surprised. They simply translated Penny’s words as: “Let’s get this party started!”
Little did Penny know, Zoren, who was standing in the farthest corner of the gymnasium, couldn’t help but smile.
“Oh, my god…” Benjamin gasped in disbelief, tempted to get some holy water to cleanse his eyes because what he just saw quickly shattered the goddess image he had of Penny. Concerned about Zoren’s opinion, he turned to his boss, only to see Zoren smiling.
“I never thought school could be fun.”
