Chapter 883: Put it to the test?
Atlas stopped walking for a moment so Zoren could catch up. However, he didn’t need to, because Zoren reached him almost immediately.
“First Brother?” Zoren tilted his head, his eyeglasses sliding down his nose. “Is everything alright?”
Atlas glanced up at him coldly. “Does Penny know you’re here?”
“No.”
“Is that why you were in that corner?”
“No.” Zoren smiled innocently. “It’s twelve years ago right now, and I didn’t want to approach Penny.”
“Huh?”
“I can’t be in love with a thirteen-year-old girl. I’m not like Ray.”
“…” Atlas blinked repeatedly, wondering if he was the only person in this gymnasium who thought this reunion was absurd. Everyone was playing along, even acting like some of them hadn’t made up.
For instance, the basketball team and Max were still at odds. Although Atlas wasn’t up-to-date with Max’s relationship with the basketball team, he knew it shouldn’t be this bad anymore. After all, they were adults, and Max had pursued a business career, owning one of the biggest professional basketball teams instead of playing.
The same was true for some members of the varsity team. Not all of those wearing jerseys had continued with basketball; some had ended up helping their families with business while Hugo pursued a military career. Yet, all of them were acting as if they hadn’t grown up.
Now Zoren was here.
Even so, Atlas narrowed his eyes suspiciously. “Are you sure you didn’t try to hit on my thirteen-year-old sister?”
“Back then, I didn’t…” Zoren rubbed his chin as he pondered. “… but now—”
“Stop right there.”
“Huh?”
“Don’t open your mouth and don’t say another word,” Atlas warned. “I’ll tell Hugo about this if you do. My sister is just thirteen.”
Zoren zipped his mouth, but Atlas didn’t stop Benjamin from speaking.
“Sir Atlas, I guess you’re enjoying this as well!” Benjamin exclaimed. “You’re really into this!”
“I’m not—”
“But don’t worry! My boss — ahem, I mean, my schoolmate here is a mature person and doesn’t take an interest in young girls! But maybe, in a few years, they’ll get married! Who knows, right? But let tomorrow worry about itself.”
Atlas and Zoren stared at Benjamin, rendered speechless. But, unlike Atlas, Zoren smiled in satisfaction.
After all, it was true that Zoren hadn’t seen Penny in a romantic light twelve years ago. To him, Penny had been a precious friend he never had. Who would have thought he’d fall madly in love with her, that without her, he couldn’t imagine life anymore?
“Again, I’m not into this absurdity,” Atlas corrected, looking back at Zoren. “And you…”
Before Atlas could finish his sentence, they heard cheers and roars from the middle of the crowd. Turning his head, Atlas’s face twitched. There, in the middle of the gymnasium, was Penny, riding on Hugo’s shoulder. She had her hands clawed in front of her, gazing intensely at the person who was also riding on someone’s shoulder.
“Come here, you.” Penny crooked her fingers, taunting the person to come at her. “I’ll give you a beating today.”
“Ahhh!!!” The opposing team surged toward Penny’s team, wanting to take her down and stop her tyranny. That ignited an intense battle, with people cheering and roaring as if they couldn’t see the absurdity of the situation.
“Penny! Penny! Penny!”
“Go! Go! Go!”
As the fight grew more intense, the cheers and roars echoed louder. Even those in the farthest corners joined in the cheers, until…

THUD!
All the other noises in the gymnasium ceased. The background music also stopped as Penny fell to the ground with a loud thud. Silence quickly filled the gym, and everyone was surprised by the turn of events.
“Pen—” Atlas took a step forward, only to stop when he heard his sister’s loud shout.
“Ahh!!” Penny growled, sprinting toward her opponents. She tackled both the person on the man’s shoulder and the person beneath.
THUD! THUD!
Silence followed again as everyone watched Penny rise to her feet, both fists raised in the air.
The crowd instantly roared once again, making the ground beneath them shake. The music blared back on, its volume turned up to the maximum as if to celebrate Penny’s victory.
“Hah…” Atlas sighed heavily, shaking his head, almost scared that his sister might get hurt. He was so ready to kick Hugo in the gut for letting her play such a dangerous game. He should’ve known Penny was testing the limits of her bodysuit.
Zoren, on the other hand, didn’t show the slightest concern when Penny fell. However, his brows rose when she stood victorious, because the brief silence that had fallen in the gym felt longer than it should have. But seeing his wife basking in her glory, he couldn’t help but smile.
‘I take it back,’ he thought. ‘Her brothers would have hated me if I had stayed a little longer with her back then. I’d surely fall in love with her no matter what time and age.’
As Zoren watched his wife shine gloriously, surrounded by those celebrating her brutal victory, he felt slightly dizzy. He held his head a little, narrowing his eyes as his vision swayed.
“Are you okay?” Atlas asked, alert enough to notice what was going on around him.
Hearing Atlas’s inquiry, Benjamin turned to his boss, only to see Zoren pressing on his temple. “Sir, are you okay?” he asked, walking closer to Zoren.
“Mhm.” Zoren hummed, forcing a smile. “Just felt dizzy for a moment, but I’m fine.”
“It’s probably the crowd,” Atlas remarked, jerking his chin at Benjamin. “Ben, take him elsewhere.”
“I’m okay,” Zoren raised a hand, looking at Atlas. “Thank you for your concern, First Brother. But I’m not as fragile… as I used to be.”
“Are you sure?”
Zoren nodded. “Yes, thank you.”
“Sir…” Worry shone in Benjamin’s eyes, glancing at Atlas as if asking for help. Even though Zoren wasn’t experiencing the same episode he had before, considering his continuous medication and recent health improvement, Benjamin was still concerned.
Seeing the look in Benjamin’s eyes, Atlas examined Zoren again. The latter looked a little pale. Though Zoren always looked as if he had one foot in the grave when they met, he had barely regained his color recently, and any difference in his complexion was still noticeable.
Just as Atlas was about to suggest Zoren leave the gymnasium to get some fresh air, they heard the crowd roar again. This time, when Zoren, Atlas, and Benjamin turned to look, it was no longer Penny.
Rather, it was the basketball team and Max again, with Hugo pointing at Atlas.
“What is he pointing at me for?” Atlas wondered. “I don’t feel good about this.”
And he was right.
A moment later, Hugo’s voice echoed, “Even without training, my First Brother is still better than you!”
“Hah! Do you want that to put it to the test?”
