Chapter 919: Another race
Peer pressure is the influence that peers have on each other to do things they may not otherwise choose to do.
Hugo didn’t feel that growing up because, before others, he would pressure himself to get to where he was today. Who would have thought that at this age, he would experience peer pressure just because of his drunk brother-in-law?
“I knew it,” he grumbled to himself, glaring at Zoren on the other side of the table. “There’s a reason why he didn’t get angry at Penny when she was drunk.”
They were the same! Both were troublesome with alcohol!
But what made Hugo angriest was that Penny was on the other end of the table as a prize! And she wasn’t even angry. She was smiling and blushing.
“Penny,” he called, his tone commanding and bone-chilling. “If I win here, you better make sure you stay home for a month. You’d be grounded.”
Penny just smiled at him and nodded, while Zoren arched a brow at him. Hugo didn’t back down, hissing at his troublesome brother-in-law.
“Second Brother, don’t let him win!” Slater cheered on Hugo’s side. “I still have a few weeks until my vacation is over. Make Penny go home!”
Atlas, on the other hand, simply massaged the bridge of his nose. His energy told everyone he was just fed up. Meanwhile, Penny was cheering with Lily beside her.
“Cousin, I mean, Blacky! Don’t lose!” Ray, on Zoren’s side, exclaimed. “Teach the Bennets a lesson and stand up for me!”
Ray elbowed Dean, only to receive a death glare from the latter. He hissed and continued cheering for Zoren.
“Are you a display?” Dean then shifted his attention from the annoying Ray to Mark. “Don’t you know he is not well?”
Mark’s jaw tightened, trying not to glare at Dean, but he couldn’t stop himself. “Do you think I haven’t tried?”
The very moment Hugo and the basketball team started pressuring Zoren to drink, Mark had already told Zoren to drink moderately. Benjamin was also there to remind Zoren. However, when Zoren was having too much fun and the table was laid out with drinks for anyone who could finish them for a prize, Benjamin almost lost his mind.
It was then that Zoren told Mark to contain Benjamin because the latter was being rude to the basketball team. When Mark came back, Zoren was already finishing the drinks on the table!
Now, here they were.
“You’re very ineffective,” Dean commented, not pleased with Mark’s obedience at all. “If you were my employee, I would’ve fired you.”
“I wouldn’t be your employee in the first place, even if that was the last job I could have.”
Dean’s face twisted while Mark raised his chin, ready to vent his frustrations on him. But before this could escalate, Lily yelled.
“Go~!” Using the microphone as her pompoms, Lily cheered as she watched Zoren and Hugo take drinks on the table. “Oh, Senior Hugo is taking the lead—oh, em gee! Blacky just grabbed two drinks at the same time!”
“Blacky! Blacky!” the basketball team cheered in unison, only to get yelled at by Hugo.
“Hey! Why are you cheering for him and not me!? I am your friend!”
“Senior Hugo, you can do it~!”
“Don’t worry about the basketball team, Senior Hugo~! They’re fickle! We got you! Please win this one as well~!”
“Second Brother, don’t get distracted! He’s taking the lead!” Slater yelled aggressively, showing his eagerness for the prize of Penny coming home to their house.
Hugo clenched his teeth and grabbed the next two drinks beside him. “Why don’t these games stop?” he hissed and chugged down the drinks, regretting asking Zoren to drink with him while he was staying in the Skyline Plaza.
As all of this was happening, Lily bumped her shoulder into Penny’s side. The latter raised her brows, looking at Lily.
“Look at them. Hehe. Putting their lives on the line for you,” Lily giggled. “Penny, if I didn’t think Senior Hugo was your brother, I would’ve thought this was a love triangle.”
“Ew.” Penny scrunched up her nose, snapping out of her trance. “Lily, I never thought you’d have such a questionable imagination.”
Lily giggled. “I’m not saying that, but you know what I mean?”

“No…?” Penny furrowed her brows.
“Hehe. Fine, fine.” Lily cleared her throat. “Penny, who do you think will win?”
“My brother.”
“Huh?” Lily looked over at the table, only to see Zoren chugging another drink while Hugo paused. “Why him and not your husband?”
Penny sighed helplessly. “My brother can hold his liquor well, but my husband… I’ve never seen him drunk. Even so, Renren doesn’t need to win this game. He already won my heart.”
“Wow.”
“I’ll just have to sneak out of the house and do some forbidden romance-themed thing for a while,” she continued, cupping her face as she imagined sneaking out to meet up with her secret lover, Zoren Pierson. “I never thought the idea could be quite romantic.”
Lily blinked and blinked, rendered speechless as she listened and stared at Penny. “Penny, I never thought you’d have such questionable fantasies as well.”
In the end, all that didn’t matter, as they were all focused on the current race.

Meanwhile, outside of the gymnasium…
“Uhmm…” Haines cleared his throat and looked at everyone, who was now back in the little tent they had set up earlier. Even Miss Sandford was back here with them! The most ridiculous part was that no one had even said a word about it.
“Charles, why are we back here again?” asked Haines as everyone settled into their seats. “I mean, are we back here to watch… these kids get drunk in school via live broadcast?”
“Should we watch them in person?” Charles returned with a gasp. “Haines, we can’t do that! Otherwise, the headmaster will question how we parent our children! Right?”
Charles then cast a look at Lily’s parents, and the two smiled and nodded. Haines’s mouth fell open as he looked at everyone until his eyes fell on Miss Sandford.
“I’m no longer teaching here,” Miss Sandford explained, even though Haines hadn’t spoken a word. “I can’t meddle with the students now.”
“Besides, they aren’t students,” Charles shrugged. “Let’s just continue to party here and watch the success of this reunion… like the old times.”
Haines shook his head in disbelief, but in the end, he didn’t say anything more to save his sanity.
