Chapter 920: uh, hell no!
Halfway through the race, just when Zoren and Hugo were about to finish their last shots, they both slowed down. The first few drinks had gone down like water to them, but the more they drank, the harder it became to swallow the next one. Hence, they were taking pauses in between.
The cheering and everything around them weren’t helping. If anything, it was adding to their intoxication.
“You’re not winning,” Hugo huffed as soon as he swallowed his drink, grabbing the next one. However, just as he was about to drink it, he gagged a little at the smell of alcohol.
“I will,” Zoren breathed out, forcing his eyes to stay open as his vision started to shake. He opened his eyes wide, blinking a few times, only to narrow them. “I see two…”
“Ah, shit…” Hugo sighed, resting his hand on the table. “What kind of drink did they give us?”
Even though Hugo could hold his liquor well, this was the first time he felt slightly intoxicated. But then again, he was surrounded by a crowd, and they kept cheering. Just that alone could make anyone dizzy—even someone like Hugo.
“Hmm…” Penny rubbed her chin, assessing the situation.
Seeing this, Lily was intrigued. “Penny, what do you have in mind?”
“Huh?”
“You look like you’re thinking of something so no one wins,” Lily whispered mischievously. “Do you want your husband to win? I can make it happen.”
Penny narrowed her eyes at Lily suspiciously. “Lily, I didn’t want to take notice, but now, I think you’re quite… corrupt.”
“What?”
“At first, you wanted Nina to win the school bell award.” Penny lowered her head a bit to whisper her next words. “You said it was rigged, but you still needed justification. Now this?”
Lily grinned. “Of course. I need to make you happy.”
“If you wanted to make me happy, then why is there a mascot of me?” Penny yelled, pointing at the mascot that seemed to be getting closer and closer to her. Not only that, but this entire gymnasium was designed to haunt Penny in her sleep!
“But you said you liked it!” Lily pouted. “Penny, don’t be like that. Didn’t you get used to it by now?”
“Is that what’s supposed to happen here? For me to get used to everything… I see?”
Lily nodded. “They’re cute!”
“…” Penny shook her head, thinking that Lily couldn’t be reasoned with right now. This woman was already drinking. Lily was wild when sober, but when she was drunk, it was double that.
The moment Penny saw the race and noticed that Hugo was reaching for the second-to-last glass, she looked over at Zoren. He had just drank the previous shot and reached out for the next one before even swallowing the last.
“Go, Second Brother! One last glass—you’re almost there!” Slater cheered.
Penny glanced at her third brother, and her face twitched. She had thought about the forbidden romance, but seeing and hearing Slater made her realize that fantasy would be a disaster. After all, if Penny had to stay at her parent’s home, she was sure Slater would follow her around like a shadow. Besides, Renny would be sad if Penny left for a month.
“Lily,” she called, leaning to her side while keeping her eyes on her husband and second brother. “I don’t want them to win. How should I stop this?”
Lily tilted her head a bit and smiled, leaning in close to Penny’s ear to whisper the answer. As soon as she drew back, Penny slowly turned her head toward her.
“It’s a good idea.” Lily winked at her. “Don’t worry. I got your back.”
“Not a bad idea…” Penny breathed out, snapping her eyes back at the two men about to reach for their last glass. “… but I don’t think it’s a good one either.”
As soon as those words left her mouth, Penny stretched her arms forward. She snatched Hugo’s last glass and Zoren’s last glass. Without waiting for anyone to react, she chugged down the first glass and then the other.
“Woah!! Penny! What the hell are you doing?!”
“Penny, that’s cheating!”
“Hey! Penny! What the hell?! Second Brother is already winning!”

Penny hissed despite the sudden uproar and complaints thrown at her. She placed the glasses down with a thud, grinning from ear to ear.
“I won!” she beamed, making Hugo and Zoren look at her blankly. “Lily, is that allowed?”
Lily quickly nodded, gracefully pulling the mic to her lips. “We got a winner~! Penny won this round!”
“HUH?!!?!?” was the majority’s reaction, looking at Lily in disbelief.
“Impossible!”
“Hey! How is that possible?!”
“Cheating! Penny isn’t even a participant! How could she win? Besides, she didn’t even drink that much!”
“Guys, guys, calm down!” Lily giggled. “I know it’s shocking, but like I said, the winner will be the first person to drink the last glass! To make sure, we can rewind!”
Just as Lily said those words, the screen on the stage played the recorded video of when the race started. It played right up to where Lily was announcing the game and the rules, rendering everyone speechless. Even Penny was speechless.
‘Did she purposely word it like that for loopholes and manipulate it the way she wants to?’ wondered everyone, now amused at Lily’s hidden talent. ‘She is scary.’
But unlike everyone else who was simply speechless at how Lily executed everything, very few were concerned. Zoren and Hugo, who were initially dizzy, felt like they sobered up instantly. Atlas, who hadn’t cared much about Zoren and Hugo, was now on high alert. Even Mark forgot his worries about his boss as he stared at Penny in horror.
She drank.
For the first time in a while, Penny had put an alcoholic drink in her system.
Uh-oh.
Hugo held his breath and slapped Zoren’s shoulder lightly. “Hey,” he called. “If she falls, I’ll catch her. Help me drag her away from this place as soon as possible.”
“Okay.” Zoren nodded, acting as if he wasn’t just competing with Hugo moments ago.
Everyone who knew Penny’s drunken antics studied her, waiting for the moment when she might pass out. They knew they only had a limited amount of time if that happened because Penny would wake up minutes later.
As for Penny, she blinked and shook her head a bit, only to feel a little dizzy. She gazed at the empty shot glass and blurted out, “What was in there?” before resting her hand on the edge of the table and closing her eyes for a bit.
It was almost like she was blinking to clear her vision. However, when she reopened her eyes, the corner of her mouth curved up deviously.
“Hell…” Atlas shook his head slightly. “…no.”
