Chapter 934: Common denominator
[SUMMIT SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE]
“I wonder where Penny went,” she asked herself, sighing heavily as she stepped out of the gymnasium for a walk.
Nina had been looking for Penny for quite a while now, wanting to ask her if she wanted to walk with her. Getting drunk wasn’t part of Nina’s plans for today. Therefore, since the party inside was getting wild to the point where any parent sending their children to this school would find it unforgivable…
But that was Ray’s problem.
“Even First Brother, Second Brother, and Third Brother are gone,” she sighed heavily, realizing she hadn’t seen the Bennets for quite some time now. “Did they manage to sneak out?”
Thinking about it, Nina wouldn’t be surprised if the Bennets had managed to sneak out. It was something they would do. It was even more surprising that they lasted this long at such an event. Even so, she was thankful they stayed because they made this reunion memorable.
As Nina found herself walking toward the path leading to the greenhouse, she stopped. Turning her head, she narrowed her eyes as she saw a figure standing in a corner that was almost hidden, a blind spot.
“Mr. Russel…?” she whispered to herself, furrowing her brows. “What is he doing in there?”
Nina tilted her head to the side, staring at Jonathan. She noticed the stick of a cigarette clipped between his fingers. However, it wasn’t lit for some reason. Lifting her eyes at him, she pondered whether to approach. When she saw him talking on the phone, smiling, she decided not to.
Nina turned and left, telling herself to mind her own business. She was grateful for Jonathan, but at the end of the day, she didn’t want to appear overly grateful. Besides, people might misunderstand their relationship. Even though people said it was Patricia’s dirty mind that gave meaning to Nina’s relationship with her client, she knew it wasn’t just Patricia. People liked to assume and give meaning to everything.
All the thoughts in her mind stopped when she found herself standing in front of the greenhouse. Nina blinked, pressing her lips into a thin line.
“He once mentioned that he likes spending time in the greenhouse, especially when things on campus get too chaotic,” she whispered, assuming that was the reason she came here.
Curious about what Finn had told her about the greenhouse’s magic, she reached out to the door and slowly opened it. Her steps were oddly careful, almost like she was tiptoeing. But before she could enter, she already saw the majestic greenery inside the greenhouse.
Everything was green, with touches of colorful flowers. There were even trees inside, some of which had already begun to bear fruit.
“Wow…” she whispered. “I’ve studied at this school for so long, but I’ve never stepped foot in here.”
Nina found herself enthralled by the scenery before her. It didn’t look like any normal greenhouse or plantation, but rather, a carefully designed space. There was even a fountain inside. The sunlight passing through the glass made everything shine and glitter.
As an artist, Nina had to admit that this place left a profound impression on her. She was mesmerized—enthralled by its beauty, serenity, and overall vibe.
“It’s so… peaceful,” she whispered, feeling a sense of peace for the first time in a long time. It was so quiet, and even though there was a party nearby, it felt like she was in an entirely different place.
Curious about what else she could see in the greenhouse, Nina began to explore. As she did, she spotted a wide space with some intricate metal chairs.
“That’s probably the star student’s lounge area…” she trailed off, noticing a pair of legs as she approached.
The legs belonged to a woman, based on the red stilettos and stockings. Nina slowed her steps, raising her brows and stretching her neck to see who it was.
“Huh?” Nina’s steps came to a halt when she reached a point where she could see the woman’s side profile. ‘Cassandra?’
For some reason, Nina felt her entire body freeze. Her eyes scanned the gorgeous woman seated in one of the garden chairs. Cassandra was lightly swinging her foot to and fro, her aura exuding sophistication. Nina had heard of or seen Cassandra in the past, but it had been years since she last glimpsed her.
She was gorgeous.
Cassandra was even more beautiful than Nina remembered, and all Nina could see was her side.
“Hmm?” Cassandra hummed as she sensed someone’s gaze. Turning her head to see who it was, her brows rose in surprise. “Nina… Bennet?”
“Uh… Reed,” Nina offered a smile, watching Cassandra rise to her feet. Just as she expected, Cassandra was even more beautiful now that she was facing her. “It’s nice to see you. Uhm, I haven’t seen you in the gymnasium. The party’s there.”
“I know,” Cassandra nodded, smiling at Nina. “I saw some things when I was headed inside. Thankfully, I was still at a distance, so I had the chance to slip away.”
“Oh… ha ha…” Nina laughed awkwardly, biting her tongue and feeling a little uncomfortable.
She didn’t know why; Nina and Cassandra didn’t have a problem with each other. They barely knew each other. But for sure, they had both heard a lot about one another. After all, they were connected in some way—both had been Finn’s ex-fiancées. A common denominator.

Cassandra let out a shallow breath, studying Nina’s body language. “Do I make you uncomfortable?”
“Huh? Of course not!” Nina laughed. “I’m just… I just think I have to go back inside since it’s getting late. It’s nice to see you, but I have to go.”
Having said that, Nina lowered her head a bit and turned to leave. However, she stopped when Cassandra spoke again.
“Do you want me to show you around?” Cassandra offered, smiling kindly at her. “I’m not an artist, but this garden has always been a place to inspire creativity. Of course, that’s just an excuse; I actually want to talk to you and perhaps get to know you better.”
“What do you think?” she added, her smile widening. “We can talk about Finn and maybe bad-mouth him.”
Nina pursed her lips, but when she heard Cassandra’s remarks, she couldn’t help but smile and nod.
