Chapter 956: Didn’t have to mark his territory every time… but he would still do it.
“Shall we proceed to the terms and conditions of the buyout?”
Mister Miller and Theo Miller had been on a rollercoaster of anxiety, surprise, and bewilderment. When they first heard the meeting location, they were shocked but didn’t dwell on it. Then, they learned about the situation with the Bennet Family. They expected that Penny would be a lot different now that the shift of power within the Bennet family was public knowledge.
But they were wrong.
Not only did Penny ask them to meet at the Pierson Corporation, but they were now in the CEO’s office. To make matters even more baffling, Zoren Pierson himself was present. Although Zoren was minding his own business, this situation felt strange overall.
Penny ignored whatever thoughts swirled in the father and son’s minds, as they were evident on their faces. She bent over, separated the two folders on the table, and slid them in front of them.
“Read it.” Her voice snapped them back to the present moment as she casually leaned back, resting one leg over the other. “Once you finish reading, we can proceed to the next step.”
“Ahem!” Mister Miller mildly shook his head, telling himself to focus on the situation. He reached out for the folder and then glanced at Penny.
“Take your time,” Penny nodded at him. “I’m not in a hurry. If you need it to, you may always contact your lawyer to check the contract.”
With that, Mister Miller cleared his throat, recomposing himself and pushing away unnecessary thoughts. All he had to do was read the terms and check if Penny had added something questionable.
Theo also shook his head, darting his eyes between Penny and Zoren briefly. ‘It doesn’t matter if he’s here or not,’ he told himself. ‘We came here for the buyout. Whatever Penny is doing to impress us… it might be working, but we have to focus.’
At the end of the day, this meeting could determine the fate of the Miller family. It could either be a disaster for them or the start of liberation from all their problems.
While the Millers were reading the contract, Penny raised her brows and glanced back. Her smile stretched wider as soon as she caught her husband peeking in her direction.
Zoren winked at her, making his wife giggle. He didn’t mind his wife doing her business in his office or anywhere within his territory. What was his was hers. If anything, he preferred that Penny use his office for this meeting because, if not, she would have left early.
“Sir,” Benjamin whispered as he stood beside the desk. “It’s almost time.”
Zoren paused and glanced at his assistant. He closed the documents he was signing and placed them in the drawer. His actions made barely a sound, even when he rose from his seat. Still, he noticed that the Millers glanced cautiously in his direction.
Zoren followed Benjamin quietly, only to pause after a few steps. He arched a brow and slid his eyes to where his wife and the Millers were seated.
“Wait for me outside,” Zoren said to Benjamin, though the latter just furrowed his brows.
Zoren strutted toward his wife, making both Theo and Mister Miller stop reading. They raised their heads, their expressions a mix of puzzlement and nervousness. They said nothing as Zoren stood near Penny.
“Hmm?” Penny hummed, slowly lifting her head to her husband. “What is it?”
“I’m leaving for the meeting.”
She smiled. “Alright.”
“Alright…?” he repeated quietly, making Penny’s brows wrinkled.
“Yes?” she asked. “Do you still need anything?”
“I do.” Zoren casually placed a hand on the headrest of her seat and bent over slightly. “I might not see you when the meeting ends.”
He fluttered his eyelashes coquettishly, hoping his wife would understand. However, Penny just blinked at him, not saying anything. A shallow breath escaped Zoren as he pinched her chin. Without a word, he lowered his head, tilting it to the side until his lips met hers.
Penny blinked… and then blinked again, her mind momentarily blank as if her brain couldn’t process what was happening. Only when Zoren’s mouth moved against hers in a quick French kiss did her eyes nearly pop out of her sockets.
“!!!” Theo and Mister Miller’s jaws dropped to the floor, their expressions blank.
Meanwhile, Benjamin gasped in disbelief. ‘Is this why he asked me to wait outside? Because he wants to kiss her behind my back?!’
Indifferent to the thoughts running through everyone’s heads, Zoren reluctantly drew his head back. His eyes drooped dangerously as he brushed her soft lips with his thumb.
“See you later,” he remarked almost playfully, smirking. “Good luck with the buyout.”

Having said that, Zoren straightened his back, shoved his hands into his pockets, and turned to face the two men, whose expressions were indescribably blank.
“I hope you don’t give her a hard time, like last night,” he said to them, his tone now cold—almost harsh. “I don’t like it when she’s disappointed.”
After making his point, Zoren cast one last look at his wife before marching away. He tilted his head slightly, sensing that Benjamin was glaring daggers at him as he approached.
“Tch!” Benjamin hissed at him and huffed, turning his back on his boss before Zoren could even reach him.
‘I told him to wait for me outside,’ Zoren thought, eyeing his fuming assistant. ‘I warned him. It’s not my fault this time. He’s too slow to leave the door.’
Meanwhile, Penny could only watch her husband leave as Benjamin led the way, still fuming. Her face twitched as she touched the side of her mouth.
‘He didn’t have to do all of that…’ she thought, slowly shifting her eyes to the people she was having a meeting with. ‘It’s just the Millers. He didn’t have to mark his territory every time I met with men, women, and anything that breathes, right?’
But then again, Zoren would always be Zoren; the same kid who wouldn’t even let his grandmother know the name of his special Thursday Girl because he liked to gatekeep it.
Oh, well.
Penny flashed the two men a bright smile. “Hehe. He was pretty upset about last night. He was in the car, by the way. And he’s a little pissed, but he’s okay now.”
