Chapter 959: Just what kind of miracle had fallen on the Miller’s lap?
“Zoren Pierson… is your husband? You are… the mysterious matriarch of the Pierson Family?”

Once this was said, Theo and Mister Miller understood the reason Penny invited them here instead of the Prime Group. It had been mentioned the night before how Penny dressed and how she had arrived abruptly at their house, saying everything she wanted as if she weren’t afraid of anything.

And what did Penny tell them? She had said they were right, that there wasn’t any formality in this discussion.

So, she was simply showing what she could do; giving them what they want.

All of this was to impress them, but that also meant more pressure on the Millers. Unlike last night, when she came in that kind of costume, as if she were simply practicing ringing the doorbell for trick-or-treating, the Millers now had to impress her as well.

How could they do that?

How could they impress the owner of Prime Group, the daughter of Charles Bennet, the sister of the youngest military lieutenant, the sister of a powerhouse of the entertainment industry, and Atlas? How could they impress the wife of Zoren Pierson, the richest man in the world?

Theo thought his heart had already sunk to rock bottom, but he was wrong. There was a deeper surface after that. Even Mister Miller couldn’t be bothered with the scattered documents at his feet as he stared at Penny with wide eyes.

“Was I impressive enough now?” Penny quipped, trying to lighten the mood, although she knew it was a failed attempt from the start. “Oh, come on. Relax. You’ve been looking at me as if I were a ghost. It’s a little disheartening…”

Her brows rose as her forehead wrinkled, jolting back when Mister Miller suddenly dropped from his chair to his knees. “Mister Miller…?”

Theo snapped out of his trance as he saw his father kneeling so suddenly. Even though he didn’t share his father’s traditional ways in some matters, he found himself joining him.

“…” Penny’s already wrinkled brows deepened as her lips curved down. “What are you two doing right now?”

“Miss Penelope, I apologize for how we acted last night!” Mister Miller exclaimed, letting go of the last shred of dignity he had preserved. “My wife was rude to you—no, our family was rude to you! You came to us with such good intentions, but not only did we doubt you, but we also chased you out! Please forgive us!”

“We didn’t mean it! We were too blind to see your real power!” Theo added in the same panicked manner. “We’re sorry for our audacity!”

Penny’s face twitched, remembering Mr. Ito and some people from the country where she started Prime Group. ‘I did want to brag, but I didn’t expect them to grovel at my feet like this. Is this because they found out I’m Renren’s wife?’

Surely, just when Penny thought she had a good grasp of Zoren and the Pierson Family’s power, she realized she was wrong. There was still more to learn.

“I did try to impress you to make up for my rudeness last night—”

“You weren’t being rude at all!” Mister Miller exclaimed. “It is us who didn’t see your good intentions because we were too blind! You were the only one kind-hearted enough to offer us a price above our market value, yet we chased you out because of our pride!”

“Please forgive us! This won’t happen again.”

“…” Again, Penny was rendered speechless as she stared at the two of them. Although this wasn’t the reaction she expected, it was better than what she had hoped for. The corner of her lips curled into a cunning smirk as her eyelids drooped.

Penny slowly rose from her seat, bending a little as she stretched both her hands toward them. “Please, sit back down. This is not what I intended when I invited you here.”

Mister Miller and Theo raised their heads, only to see the angelic face smiling at them warmly. They didn’t know if it was her beauty or just how warm her smile appeared, but they felt their eyes sting. Her beautiful smile and her warm hands reaching out to them felt like the perfect representation of this deal.

It was Penny’s warm hands that would pull them out of the darkness they had been trapped in. Hence, they felt moved by her gesture and reached out to her. Penny helped both men back to their feet, standing before them with an angelic smile.

“My offer to the Millers is genuine. By now, I’m certain you’ve already heard about the… twist in our family,” she continued, her tone much gentler than it had ever been. “It was unfortunate, but I was hoping that this would cure the grief in my heart, if not now, then in the future. Besides, your company and ours have always been going head to head. Although there were some issues, I can’t just sit by and watch as two of the oldest and most trusted logistics companies fall at the same time.”

Penny paused as a thin layer of tears coated her eyes. “That would be… heartbreaking.”

“Young Miss Bennet…”

“Miss Penelope…”

Both Millers were teary-eyed, moved by Penny’s grace and kindness toward them. They were just words, but in such a vulnerable state, they quickly saw Penny in a different light. Well, the fact that she was the matriarch of the Pierson Family also contributed to why their opinion changed.

Aside from the fact that she was the CEO of Prime Group, Penny, being Zoren’s wife, showed them that they weren’t the ones doing Penny a favor. It was actually the other way around. There were other companies out there with no problems who would be willing to sell for the same price she offered them.

“Shall we continue this discussion?” Penny suggested in the same friendly manner. “I’d like to discuss something important with the two of you, but we got a little sidetracked.”

“Ye — yes, of course!” Mister Miller said. “Of course. We’re sorry we couldn’t contain our emotions.”

Penny placed a hand on his shoulder, nodding at him reassuringly. “It’s alright, Mister Miller. I understand.”

“Thank you,” Theo breathed out, looking at Penny as his hero, feeling that he had been saved.

“You don’t have to thank me. Now, let us sit.”

Having said that, Penny and the others sat down. She even insisted on helping Mister Miller pick up the documents. This time, however, the Millers were barely skimming through the papers. There wasn’t anything they found odd in Penny’s condition until they reached the last part.

“Miss Penelope…” Theo furrowed his brows and looked up, catching his father also raising his head. “… What does this clause mean?”

Penny glanced at the clause Theo was pointing at before the corner of her lips hooked upward. “It is exactly what it’s written.”

“You…” Mister Miller trailed off, exchanging a surprised look with his son before their gaze settled back on her. “… You want us to run the company even if you buy it? We’ll keep it and retain a small share? On top of the buyout?”
