Chapter 171: Gate Master Mara
Kent’s cheeky comment made Saintess Selene hasten her footsteps, not wanting to be close to the bastard she had given her heart to.
Kent, of course, didn’t bother her any longer. He walked behind the four ladies, who were already attracting some admirers. Outside the gate, there were hundreds of people.
Kent could tell most of them were from wealthy families and were perhaps looking to enroll their wards into the sect. However, from the long line outside, it was evident they were not having much luck.
But they should be rewarded for their persistence. It seemed they weren’t leaving until they got what they wanted.
Kent could even see some bastards licking their lips as they gazed at Lilian, who seemed to be growing in all the right places, unlike Unity, who was still maintaining her petite body.
Unity had developed slightly in her chest and back areas, and thanks to the clinging outfit she was wearing, nothing was hidden at all.
It was Vexthra’s idea to use the armor like that. Lilian had turned it into the sect uniform, but in reality, it was a Soul item that could withstand the strongest of attacks.
As for Elsa, her pale complexion, long silver hair, and blue eyes were a feast for the eyes. Even the guards were eyeing her as they passed.
Regarding the saintess, they knew better than to show any lustful expressions. As for Unity, she had grown beautiful, but her body wasn’t as attractive to them, so they only glanced at her.
Then there was the smiling, handsome Kent, who was already being hated, considering he had alighted from the same carriage as the four beauties.
He couldn’t care less.
His focus was instead on the figures coming toward them. They were still far away, but he could see them clearly, and from what he gathered, the woman leading them was someone very powerful.
A few seconds later, they appeared, passing through the gap created by the guards. Kent quickly scanned her and got her name, but it was of no use since Saintess Selene greeted her using the same name and title.
Of course, Kent knew more, and for a moment, he realized that if he didn’t tread carefully, he would be doomed before he knew it.
“Greetings, Gate Master Mara,” Selene said, bowing slightly. Unity, Liliana, and Elsa followed suit, but not Kent.
It wasn’t because he didn’t want to; he simply couldn’t move his body. Something—or someone—had locked him down, and he wasn’t about to use his aura to break free.
“Who are you?” Gate Master Mara asked, raising a finger to stop the worried Saintess from answering. It was clear she hadn’t expected this outcome.
“I should be the one asking that, don’t you think?” Kent replied, knowing this wasn’t how he had envisioned his first day in the sect.
“But since you want to know, I am Kent. Kent Madson,” he said with a small smile, reassuring his master that he was okay.
However, perhaps that was a mistake, as the next second, the aura suppressing him intensified, and blood began flowing from his nose.
Saintess Selene and his other ladies wanted to intervene, but he used the connection between them to stop them from entering his mess.
It was clearly a test, considering there was no killing intent in her aura. It seemed more like she was testing his resistance against pressure.
But he wasn’t about to lose face. His perverted side had already scanned the Gate Master, and he knew she was someone who he could play with or, more accurately, she had things Kent could play with.
Both her chest and backside couldn’t be ignored.
Gate Master Mara arrived with five others, and from what Kent could tell, they were her disciples in a way, considering they were looking at him with smug expressions.
It was as if they knew something, and upon seeing the bleeding Kent, they started smiling inwardly. Of course, Kent scoffed and then raised his hand.
He looked at the Gate Master and smiled before he snapped his fingers.
The next second, the aura surrounding him was cut off.
It was as if nothing had happened from the start. He dried his nose and looked toward Gate Master Mara.

“Thank you for the welcome, Gate Master, but I’m afraid you might want to use a much stronger aura next time. No hard feelings, though.”
Kent smirked, watching the shocked expression flash across Gate Master Mara’s face.
As for the five behind her, they all wore shocked expressions. Even Saintess Selene shared the same reaction. Why?
Kent had just rendered the aura of a Root Transcendent useless. Nobody understood how he did it. In fact, Gate Master Mara wanted to ask but held back, knowing it would be rude.
In reality, Kent had used a skill he received when Selene joined his harem. It was a skill called [Rule Breaker].
It was a divine skill with a single, straightforward function. The description read: “Once a day, you can break the rule of anyone who attacks you.”
The description was simple yet incredibly powerful. Essentially, Kent could use this skill once per day to negate any rule or effect. If he were poisoned, he could use the skill to nullify the poison.
If he were stabbed in the heart, he could break the attack. It functioned like an [undo] ability. However, once he used it, the person it was used against would be unable to harm him for the rest of the day.
Of course, if a new attacker appeared, Kent would have to rely on his own abilities to defend himself. But for a day, he had a guaranteed way to escape death once.
He used it against Gate Master Mara, and at the moment, she was trying to test him again, but it wasn’t working.
All attempts she made bore no fruit. She was practically rendered useless in front of Kent.
“It won’t work, Gate Master. But since you and I are practically best friends now, why don’t we get to know each other more? Like I said, I am Kent, and even though you already knew, I am the one and only disciple of Sword Saintess Selene. Nice meeting you.”
Kent extended his hand for a handshake.
The five behind the Gate Master wanted to protest, knowing what Kent was doing was rude. Even Saintess Selene wanted to stop him, but she froze when she saw the Gate Master smile and take Kent’s handshake.
“Nice meeting you, Kent. I am Gate Master Mara… Well, I am the master of the sword gate, but since, like you said, we are best friends, you can just call me Mara or Marr.”
Kent nodded with a smile, shocking everyone who witnessed this.
Inwardly, though, Kent was freaking out. That was because the smile Mara gave him wasn’t friendly at all. He saw it, and then it happened.
She turned to Saintess Selene. “Congratulations on finally finding a disciple; however, because your disciple is now my friend, he will have to go through the trial of the sword. If he passes, the sect will recognize him as your disciple; else, he will be crippled for disrespecting a Gate Master.”
Saintess Selene turned pale upon hearing that. In fact, she had expected this the moment she saw the Gate Master appear. Why? It was because the Gate Master was someone with a unique set of eyes.
In the human continent, and perhaps the entire world, she is the only one with that sight: [The Sword Eye.]
This eye allows her to see the true nature of people, and she sees something that enrages her.
She saw her former disciple was no longer a virgin, and, tracking her yin essence, she saw it all over Kent. From the start, she had wanted to kill Kent for defiling her innocent former disciple.
But she couldn’t outright do it…So she went for the next best thing. However, she picked the wrong thing…
[Master, this is your chance to become famous.]
Of course, Kent was smiling at that very moment.
