Chapter 220: The Second Chain Quest, Great Friends
While everyone was speculating about the true nature of Kent’s abilities, he was on his way to the Spear Gate to see his master.
She had been put in a dangerous situation because of him, and he wanted to make sure she was okay. Of course, she had been fine helping Kent kill the Pill Saint, as that was the safest course of action.
But now that she had nearly been targeted, he felt the need to apologize and, perhaps, take her back to the Sword Gate for a private session.
When he arrived at the Spear Gate, he quickly went to Saintess Neomi’s residence, where his master and her sister were seated under a tree.
“You’re here,” Saintess Neomi said, looking strangely at Kent. Today, there was no trace of annoyance in her gaze. It was unusual, in a way.
“Yes, I am here. Thank you for saving my master. Though I expected something like this, I never expected it to be this dangerous,” Kent said with a grateful expression.
His master was strong, but in his eyes, she was as delicate as a flower. He didn’t want to put her life in danger.
“I have to give it to you, kid; you have more courage than any other man I’ve met in this life,” Saintess Neomi said, and Kent simply smiled.
“That means a lot to me,” he replied, placing both palms on his chest and giving a gentle bow. This action caused both his master and her sister to smirk at his antics.
“But what happened? How were you able to suppress everyone? It’s not like you’re now a Spear Sage. You clearly are a Spear Saint, so how were you able to even suppress the gate masters?” Kent asked.
All the happenings around him were canceled when he entered the invisibility bubble.
This allowed him to see clearly what had occurred when the Saintess appeared, and that was how he noticed the Gate Masters were even suppressed to a certain extent.
If that was the case, then how was that possible?
It just doesn’t make any sense here.
“It’s thanks to you, I guess,” Saintess Neomi replied.
“How so? I don’t remember the last time I helped you,” Kent asked, looking skeptical. He knew she had entered seclusion after their duel, but he didn’t know why that was.
“For some reason, the intent you exuded during our duel made me gain enlightenment, and it wasn’t the normal kind. This was different. In a way, after I woke up, I got a huge boost in my mastery over spear qi and intent.”
Saintess Neomi said, making both Kent and his master look at her in their own way.
[What she said is true, Master. She has indeed gone through an enlightenment. It was an enlightenment that may have lasted for a couple of years, which in this case would require her to train a skill or perhaps a technique until her time was up.]
⟪Wait, there’s something like that?⟫ Kent asked. He already knew there were different types of enlightenment; he just didn’t know the specifics.
[Yes. There are quite a few, actually. But if I were to guess, this enlightenment presented her with a technique and a time frame to learn and master it.
There would have been obstacles for her to overcome in order to master the technique and perhaps a decade of time for her to spend inside the enlightenment.
It can be just a few hours on the outside, but on the inside, decades or even centuries can pass. If you gain something inside, it will manifest on the outside. That’s how it was designed.]
⟪Good for her, I guess,⟫ Kent said, looking at the Spear Saintess and smiling.
“Congratulations, then. You are gradually on the track to becoming a Spear Sage at this point,” Kent smiled.
His master also nodded. “Congratulations, Big Sister. I would be very happy if I had half your talent.”
“Don’t say things like that, Selene. You are much more talented than you think,” Saintess Neomi said, holding her hand and bringing a smile to her face, though Kent could tell she wasn’t really smiling.
Because of her low-grade spirit root, she wasn’t at the stage where she could be classified as a genius among her peers. In fact, had it not been for Saintess Neomi, she probably wouldn’t have been admitted into the sect.
Back then, she didn’t meet the requirements to join the sect, but she insisted that if she wasn’t allowed in, then she wouldn’t join either.

Obviously, they wouldn’t want to lose a Platinum-grade spirit root disciple, so they accepted Selene.
Thankfully, because of this generosity from her sister, the Sword Saintess poured her heart into her cultivation of the sword. She had read that the sword’s path doesn’t necessarily require a strong cultivation base.
Since she lacked that, she decided to make up for it with sheer determination, and it paid off. However, she was still not satisfied with her talent.
Kent could only sigh. He had a way to help her and would give it to her soon.
“By the way, Saintess, since I’ve helped you, do I qualify to spend some quality time with your disciple?” Kent asked.
“If you must, go through me first to get to my disciple,” Saintess Neomi declared, making Kent smile.
‘Oh, I will go through you alright… I’ll go inside you soon enough,’ he thought with a smile.
Immediately after he made that comment, he heard a *ding*, signaling that the universe and the tower had come together to hand him a quest.
