Chapter 257: How Did It Go…
“How did it go?” Master Mara asked the moment Kent appeared outside. It had already been two days, and as she had promised, she waited for him until he came out.
“It went well,” Kent responded. “Though I couldn’t gain enlightenment like I hoped, I did gain something much more valuable.”
“That is good then… I guess you didn’t waste your chance there, as most do,” she said.
“I guess so too,” Kent replied. He wasn’t sure if he should talk to her about his breakthrough in the garden.
The discovery that he could use his sword intent with qi for active attacks wasn’t something entirely new, but perhaps the way he understood it was something many would cherish.
He observed her expression, trying to see if she was curious about his breakthrough, but he saw nothing of the sort. In the end, Kent decided to keep the matter to himself and move on.
If there came a time when she gained his trust, he might share his discovery with her. But for now, Kent would keep it to himself.
It was selfish in a way, but she is a Sword Sage; she has more knowledge than him, so Kent was also lacking.
But he has the power to do that. He has the tower on his side. Then again, the gate master cannot go into the tower either.
He cannot take her to the tower without her gaining his trust by either being in his harem, his servant, or part of his legion.
Li Hua is there because she is just a kid, and even though she is under his protection, she is part of the guardian tower.
“By the way, where is your master?” she asked. She could tell Kent had made some progress merely by looking at him, but she also did not see him sharing simply because she wouldn’t share.
‘His aura is different. I guess he is a genius, just like his master,’ she said to herself.
“Master is in closed-door seclusion,” Kent replied.
“Tell her to come see me when she comes out…” She wanted to continue with something but stopped herself.
“I will pass on your message,” Kent replied. He also saw she wanted to say something, but since she was not willing to talk, he would just keep quiet.
“By the way, Gate Master, I heard there are still two spots reserved for the upcoming Sect competition,” Kent said with a small smile.
“Don’t tell me you want to join,” she said, though she knew his answer.
“It’s only natural for me to join if this sect has a chance at winning. I mean, I defeated a Spear Saint just a couple of days ago. So, from where I stand, I am more than qualified. He is even on the roster to represent the sect…so.”
Kent wasn’t about to think she was his friend, but he also couldn’t help being himself around her. That’s just the way he is.
The Gate master was at the Root Transcendent stage, just a step away from breaking through to the Root Ascension stage.
Someone like her should be feared, but in Kent’s eye, she is just an uptight beauty waiting for someone to put her on all four and fuck her well.
Obviously, he thinks he is that destined person.
The gate master didn’t see it that way though…she was rather amused by Kent’s statement.
“Wait, you think the sect is basing its winning on that brat or the disciple of the Spear Gate?” the Gate Master sneered.
“The sect has hidden monsters. The competition only requires nine active participants after the first challenge, and let me tell you, we have Nine of them, and each is on the same level as your master.
The only reason your master or the Spear Saintess wouldn’t be participating is because of their status as Saintesses.”
“So, tell me, Kent, can you defeat your master?” she asked with a smirk.
Kent scratched his head, knowing full well that he wouldn’t be able to defeat his master.
Saintess Selene may pale in comparison to her sister Neomi, but she is in no way weak. Kent wouldn’t be able to defeat her.

“Then this means even if I somehow get one of the two spots left, when the time comes, I wouldn’t be allowed to fight actively,” Kent said.
“That is exactly what I mean,” she responded, but Kent just sighed.
“Looks like I must challenge my master to a duel and wipe her face on the floor,” he chuckled, knowing what he must do next.
The Gate Master just smirked, but she didn’t put much thought into what Kent had just said. If only she knew the brat was actually serious.
Right now, he wanted to face monsters, and what better way to do that than a competition where only the best of the best would be participating?
Also, if he wants to have a chance at defeating his master, now is the best time.
The moment she starts walking the Primordial Sword Path he had made for her, things will be different. It will take him some time before he can catch up to her.
“Go back and use this time to ponder your breakthrough. Since you are now a disciple in the Sword Gate, you can book a room at the Sword Tower.
Then, use the time to ponder your breakthrough. This way, though you are out of the Garden, you still wouldn’t lack inside the towers.”
The gate master offered her advice like any gate master would.
Every gate in the sect has a tower—the Sword Tower, the Spear Tower, or even the Archer Tower.
So, though Kent also has his overpowered tower, the sect also has formations that help speed up cultivation and practice.
But Kent wasn’t about to go there when he had the best thing. He has all the time inside the tower, so what waste it on trivial towers like the one the sect has?
His tower is the best, and so he wouldn’t leave that place. The sect can keep their towers to themselves.
“I will listen to your advice, Gate Master,” Kent, of course, wasn’t about to reject the offer. That would be impolite. So after saying that, he left the Gate Master alone.
Clearly, she had learned her lesson, so she wasn’t about to walk in front of him. She wouldn’t give him that show again.
But that wasn’t going to be easy. After moving a few steps, Kent turned around and took out a wine from his space ring.
Of course, it was actually from his tower storage, but he made it appear as though it came from his storage ring.
“Take this. It seemed to have helped you before. But just so you know, my offer still stands—just one massage, and you’ll come running for more next time.”
After saying that, he left and headed straight back to the mansion. He then entered the tower, went straight to the Stone of Enlightenment, and began practicing the Sword Mind.
He had 24 days to get things done there. By then, a day would have passed on the outside. Ingrid and her master would be done by then.
