Chapter 261: Kent vs Sword Saintess Val (1)
“Have you heard?” a disciple asked his friend.
“Heard what?”
“That brat who won the Trial of the Sword just challenged the Sword Saintess from the Everlasting Immortal Sword Sect to a sword duel.”
“What?!” the friend exclaimed with a shocked expression.
This friend was the same Max who, out of greed, chose to enter the roster of the 100 disciples Kent traumatized—ahem—defeated during the Sword Trial.
He had been recovering after that battle, so he hadn’t come out to hear what was going on around the sect. However, just now, his friend arrived with another piece of news, and it was shocking.
Even more shocking than the challenge that took place weeks ago.
“Tell me it’s a lie,” Max said.
“Can’t you see what’s going on outside?” his friend replied, causing Max to look out the window. True to his friend’s words, disciples could be seen moving toward the largest coliseum of the Sword Gate.
“I only came to tell you because I know you still haven’t recovered from that defeat. Perhaps, seeing him get trashed will make you feel better.”
After saying that, the friend left, leaving Max to ponder what to do next.
Obviously, he followed suit. The allure of seeing Kent get trashed wasn’t something he or the others who were defeated during the Sword Trial would pass up on.
It took just two hours, but the arena was packed to the brim.
This was like a once-in-a-lifetime duel worth watching. Of course, they weren’t placing Kent in high regard. They knew he would get trashed.
The only reason they were there was because of the Saintess.
It’s rare to see a Saintess fight, so this was like an eye-opener for them. They wanted to see just how she would trash Kent and see if they could gain something from her mastery over the sword.
Inside the VIP room in the arena, Gate Master Mara, along with Gate Master Camilla, were seated and ready to watch the duel of the brat they were tasked with keeping alive.
“Your gate has become rather lively since that brat stepped in,” Gate Master Camilla said, a smirk playing on her lips.
“Maybe not for long. After he gets trashed, he’ll calm down a bit. Well, he will be taken away so…” Gate Master Mara said indifferently.
“You don’t think that handsome brat will win?” Gate Master Camilla asked.
“Are you seriously asking that? He is merely a Grandmaster swordsman; how is he going to win against a Sword Saintess? I know Selene is more impressive than this bitch, but she is not to be underestimated,” she said, making Gate Master Camilla nod.
“True, but where is the trust you should have for the disciple of your gate?”
“I shouldn’t even be here, considering the duel will end before it even starts,” Gate Master Mara said indifferently again.
“Then why don’t we put some stakes on it? If your disciple loses, I fulfill a request from you, and if he somehow manages to win, you will let the brat accompany me on a mission,” Gate Master Camilla said, smiling.
Her friend just looked at her with disdain. She is practically asking to spend some time with the brat, who only seems to attract trouble.
“Whatever makes you happy, I guess,” she said. Of course, she accepted her request.
Gate Master Camilla smiled and focused on the arena, where the arrogant Sword Saintess appeared, riding on a thin sword.
Cheers followed her entry. Of course, it was to be expected, considering she is a Saintess and everyone respected her.
A few minutes after she entered, a bolt of lightning flashed through the entrance, and she stopped opposite the Saintess.
Then the bolt burst wide open, and from within the blast, Kent appeared, smiling back at the Saintess.

Everyone narrowed their eyes at the flashy entry Kent displayed. It was just too flashy to be taken seriously. Kent appeared like a tribulation, and with it, the duel was about to begin.
“If you don’t mind me asking, what would you do if you lose? Will you try to run?” Kent asked.
“I don’t need to run simply because you don’t have what it takes to defeat me. But fear not, I will make it quick.”
A thin sword appeared in the air, and then two more followed, making it three. The Saintess then extended her hand, and another sword appeared in her firm grip.
[Fancy. Looks like she has mastered the art of spirit-wielding] Gaia said, amused for some reason.
Spirit-wielding is when a swordsman, spearman, or any weapon cultivator uses their mind to control their weapons. Right now, the Saintess was using three flying swords and a real sword in her grip for the battle.
Kent smiled. “A wise man once said, ‘What shall it profit a woman if she had all the swords in the world but doesn’t know how to wield them?'” He took a step forward, causing the air to distort around him.
“I may be a Grandmaster, but there is another saying that goes, ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover.'” He extended his hand, and the golden sword sheath appeared, causing many to raise their eyebrows.
“But you can judge now, for you wouldn’t have the same chance again. Not ever.” Kent pointed the golden sheath at her and said the magic words.
“Give me your best swing… Saintess.”
That was all it took, but the next second, three swords came from three different directions. The speed was just too much to handle. However, Kent just took a single swing, and three sword arcs appeared.
The three thin flying swords were countered, and then he blinked away and appeared behind the Saintess. However, before he could attack, the Saintess attacked using the flying swords again.
‘She is underestimating me,’ Kent said inwardly as he defended against the three swords. The battle hadn’t even started yet, and she had already begun looking down on him.
It was as if she had everything figured out, and to her, Kent was merely a bug in front of her. She wasn’t even putting in much effort, yet she thought she could defeat him easily.
‘Well then…’ Kent blinked, distancing himself from her.
