Chapter 356: Challenging The First Level of The Sword Bridge
“I will see you again, Lady Lani. Be sure to take me around Vastport City next time,” Kent said to the veiled Lady after taking her to the Sword and Spear Gate, the only two places he knew in the sect.
“I will surely do that,” she replied. Though she wanted to laugh, she held back and continued walking out of the sect.
“It seems some people still want a piece of you, Kent,” she said, looking into the distance where hundreds of people could be seen camped up at the sect entrance.
Most of them were there to apologize on behalf of the wrongdoings of their family members who had gone against Kent. Naturally, they all started to get giddy when they saw him approaching.
The sect gate was opened, but none dared to enter.
Doing so would not only be an offence against the sect but also a disrespect to the elders of the sect, which would have many consequences, many of them severe, including death.
“I don’t have anything to do with them,” Kent said, stopping abruptly. He turned and looked at Alina. “You can come visit me when you are free.”
Alina nodded, knowing she would take him up on that offer.
He then turned to Lady Lani, “Sorry for not being able to walk you out. I have things to do, and getting close to them isn’t one of those.”
He knew if he were to get closer to them, those who angered him would face his wrath, so it was better to leave them be.
“Don’t worry about that. We will talk when you come for the Pill Master competition,” Lady Lani said, smiling behind her veil.
“Then we will see each other again,” Kent said as the two ladies left. He could already sense some hidden dangers waiting for him outside.
Smirking, he vanished back into the sect.
The people waiting for him to come out were left stunned as he disappeared.
The moment he returned to Selene’s mansion, he entered the Sword Tower and quickly made his way to the Sword Bridge.
“This is going to be a good one,” he muttered as he landed on the bridge and looked toward the large, colossal blade waiting for him to traverse.
It has 13 segments, and each is akin to a level he must be clear about before moving to the next level.
He moved forward, and the moment he entered the first segment, the white-armoured version of him appeared again. This was their second battle, and Kent had every intention of winning.
The clone held its sword inside a sheath, just like Kent’s.
“Alright, let’s see whether I can make a difference,” Kent said.
He vanished and appeared in front of the clone, immediately going for a wide swing. His sword came out of the sheath and unleashed a wide arc of pure sword qi.
However, the clone was ahead of him, unleashing 100 sword arcs with a single swing to defend against the attack.
Then, it closed the gap between them again.
Kent exchanged a few sword strikes with the clone before pulling back.
‘This is fun. But a slight mistake, and I am dead, so I must be careful,’ he thought.
He unleashed 100 sword arcs, but the clone destroyed them immediately. It then countered with 100 sword arcs and then vanished.
Unlike Kent, who still doesn’t have much experience in combat, the close was much more agile and quick with its attacks. So, it was handling the battle much more actively yet passively.
It vanished after unleashing the 100 sword arcs.
Kent became alert. The sudden disappearance was unexpected, so he heightened his focus.
“Shit,” he realized what the clone was doing, but it was already too late. The clone appeared in the air and unleashed all 450 sword arcs at the same time.

Kent channelled his sword qi and intent, covering his immediate surroundings with all he had as the sword arcs rained down on him.
“Fuck!”
He was thrown back, landing heavily on the sword bridge. Then, as if his nightmare wasn’t over, he saw the white-armoured figure appear in front of him and thrust its sword.
But before the sword could reach him, Kent blinked away and reappeared in the air, unleashing his own 450 sword arcs.
He had to make a move, and the move was him coping with the attacks while he handled the dynamics of the battle. In simple terms, he must become the clone to defeat the clone.
He didn’t stop there. He unleashed the 72 Sovereign Sword Strikes right after the 450 sword arcs, forcing the clone to raise its guard and defend against the sword arcs and the chains.
But Kent was a step ahead again. He had to consider this as a battle he could not slack off.
He vanished, and the next second, he appeared behind the clone, which had made a mistake by using the vanishing act to try and kill the dragon.
Kent slashed at the leg of the clone, which jumped forward and rolled to the side. But that rolling was what Kent was aiming for.
“Got your ass,” Kent smiled, stomping on the ground.
Just as he did, a dark, sharp shard shot from the ground, piercing through the right leg of the clone, who was caught off guard by the sudden attack.
‘Now is the time to end the battle, but I must also be careful,’ Kent thought.
He moved forward and unleashed an elemental attack, sending a flaming sword arc flying toward the clone.
But just as his attack connected with the clone’s body, a smile appeared on his face.
He stabbed his sword behind him, piercing through the heart of the clone, which had split its body and tried to attack Kent from the back.
“I knew that vanishing act he used lasted longer than it should have,” Kent said, patting himself on the back.
When the clone vanished, he expected a big surprise, and he got it. It was 450 swords arc right from the air.
However, he felt that the attack wasn’t the real deal.
So, he stayed alert and began looking for the loophole. Then, when he injured the clone, it became clear to him what the clone did.
He knew if it were to be him, he would have dodged that attack, and even if it had gone through his leg, he would have recovered and not been killed by the elemental attack.
So when the clone didn’t move during his attack, he knew it was a trap, so he focused on the surprise. As expected, it appeared, and he was ready.
This made him proud of himself and his keenness during the short yet dangerous battle.
The battle lasted only five minutes, but he got what he wanted, and it was more than he could have asked for.
The moment he pulled out his sword, the tower displayed the messages of his victory and rewards. The rewards were one he never expected, but they came.
⟪Congratulations on passing the first level of the sword bridge. Rewards: Your sword mastery has improved by 20%. You now have the mastery of the clone. You have received an active sword skill called Split Body Sword Strike.⟫
