Chapter 434: The Third Trial
The domino effect.
Provided there are no empty spaces, the first domino will be the downfall of all.
Kent isn’t as stupid as the Saints were trying to make him seem.
He is very intelligent and could tell when something was amiss.
He saw from his past memories how smart Jest is. This gave him even more confidence to trust in his own intelligence.
So when the results came out and his name was third, he knew what they were up to.
Of course, they could lie and say they did that to keep him safe, but he never asked for that, and he knew that regardless of what they did, his identity would come out soon.
So then why would they manipulate his results?
He just smiled at that and let it slide as the third trial of the day was upon them.
“The third trial is simple. You will be presented with 700 incorrect pill recipes. You are required to fix them. Know that these 700 recipes will be coming from the second trial that just ended,” the Elder said, making the 40 remaining nod.
Right after the second trial, ten people were disqualified for not having 300-plus recipes written on their scroll. These ten were just waved goodbye, leaving 47.
However, after checking the correctness of the remaining 47 scrolls, seven couldn’t produce 300-plus valid recipes, so they were also let go.
Now, only 40 remain, and they are now led to the same room with new tags.
Kent is now seated behind table 3, right behind Annabelle, who keeps turning and looking at him out of the corner of her eye.
Kent just smirks every time.
He can tell she has been pampered so much that she is simply spoiled. Fixing her will require a good old-fashioned reality check.
But since he wasn’t there for any trouble, he will focus on alchemy first.
After all, the endgame is to kill the God of Alchemy, and the best way to do that is to use alchemy to flush him out.
There are no Pill Supremes and Celestials in the universe. The last one vanished billions of years ago, so the highest alchemist in the universe is the Pill God.
That is Kent’s target, per his promise to Vexthra when she gave him a new body and a second chance at life. So, he will take alchemy seriously, just as he is taking the sword.
Two scrolls are before him and a writing stick. One of the scrolls contains the incorrect recipes, and the second is for recording the correct ones.
“This trial is only two hours,” the Elder said.
“Your time starts now,” he gave the order, making Kent and the others immediately get to work. Kent opened the scrolls, and truth be told, the recipes were indeed wrong when he set his sights on them.
However, as if his very existence were against the incorrect recipes, his eagerness to correct them filled him, making even Kent wonder where that feeling was coming from.
It was like he hated what he was seeing.
He picked up the writing stick, dipped its tip into the dark ink, and started recording the correct recipes. He didn’t know why he felt that way, but didn’t like seeing the wrong recipes.
He made sure he recorded everything correctly and in the order he was given.
Forty-five minutes later, he was done and placed the stick down.
In the VIP room, the Saints who were watching everyone turned and looked at each other. They knew one of two things would happen if they didn’t become careful.
Kent spent less than an hour finishing the recipes, and clearly, everyone saw that. So when the results came out, they would expect to see his name in the first spot, for they knew he had written all the correct recipes on the scroll.

So if they instead chose to bump down his ranking, people would notice. This meant they could only ensure he wasn’t suppressed like before.
But they were also not willing to make him first.
Initially, Kent knew this would happen and was happy about it. He didn’t care about the ranking. When the real alchemy began, he gradually showed everyone his mastery.
His focus now was the killing intent that came from one of the audience just then. He felt it, and then he felt it move away.
This brought a smile to his lips. So while the person was hovering around, he knew they would soon make their presence known.
He already had measures in place for that too.
After a while, the two hours passed, and the trial ended. They moved out and waited for another hour until the results came out.
As he expected, Elaine was first, Annabelle was second, and Kent was still third. Many started scratching their throats, but they didn’t say anything since doing so would mean going against the Pill Saints.
They wouldn’t do that unless it was obvious and they couldn’t take it anymore.
Ten more couldn’t progress to the next stage of the competition, so they were waved goodbye.
“That will be all for the first day. Tomorrow, there will be two trials, after which only 14 will be left. Prepare well, for the real pill concoction, or as most call it, the real alchemy, will begin tomorrow.”
The contestants nodded, and everyone was dismissed.
Kent left right when they closed and met up with Lady Lani and Nara, who could only shake their heads throughout the three trials.
“You sure know how to cause trouble, Kent. I knew you wouldn’t be able to hide it anymore,” Lady Lani, who already knew he was the Perfect Alchemist, said as they rode back to the hotel in their flying golden carriage.
“They seem to think otherwise. But they shouldn’t worry. I will show them I am not that weak tomorrow,” Kent smiled.
“So, are you showing everyone your true identity tomorrow?” she asked again.
“No. But I will be picking my challenger tomorrow.” Since he needs a pill master as an opponent for his last requirement to become a Pill Grandmaster, he can only create one.
Naturally, his target is Elaine, the disciple of Pill Saint Enex.
After flying for a few minutes, Kent and the two beautiful ladies looked to their right. Kent smiled.
“They never learn.”
