Chapter 469: Who is Chaos (2)
“Who is Chaos?” Kent asked.
Vexthra’s smile showed a pained yet happy expression.
When she went for the Book of Stories and Legends, the enchantress warned her of the price she would have to pay. Of course, she wanted to help Kent back then, so she never really heeded the warning.
However, after getting the pages she wanted, the price became clear.
To someone of her status, age is just a number.
But what would be a god if not their divinity?
To them, their divinity is everything, so sacrificing her divinity wasn’t easy. However, in the end, she discovered something rather grand.
She was researching night riders when she happened to come across knowledge from the primordial era. It was knowledge that would make any god go crazy.
“Chaos is the saviour of this universe. When I say he was the saviour of this world, I mean he saved this universe and everything it contains.
I can’t tell you everything, considering my divinity couldn’t handle the backlash. Of course, I have a feeling you will know everything, so for you, Chaos is the one who used his life to save the universe.
You see, during the primordial era, life was at its peak. It was the first era after the universe was formed. Powerhouses rose, and many fell.
However, when the ending came, everyone ran.
Back then, immortals, gods, and the supreme and celestial beings found a way to transcend beyond this universe, so when death came, they ran, leaving 14 celestials.
These 14 original defenders chose to stand beside their leader, the Chaos Dragon. They fought against the creatures of the unknown for many years.
However, in the end, when it came to the life of this universe and their own, they chose theirs. They abandoned the Chaos Dragon and transcended.”
“Are you okay?” Kent asked, wiping the blood that came from Vexthra’s nose.
“Don’t worry. I prepared for this moment, so I will be fine.”
“Are you really sure. Getting a bleeding nose from telling a story isn’t normal, Vex.” Kent looked worried, but Vexthra just smiled
She wasn’t telling Kent that those who ran were the original guardians of the Doom Gates. When the creatures of the unknown came, fourteen doors were opened, and these doors were guarded by fourteen celestial beings.
However, when the danger peaked, they abandoned the universe and its last defender, who was the only thing standing between the creatures of the unknown and the few living beings who couldn’t transcend.
“When they ran, the Chaos Dragon was the last standing,” Vexthra smiled.
“Now, do you remember the seven primordial Chaos relics I told you about when you first visited?” Vexthra asked.
“Yes. You said they are the fractured pieces of the soul that belonged to the Chaos Dragon,” Kent answered, recalling what Vexthra had said when she saw the Starbound Compass.
“Yes. They indeed belonged to him, but their purpose wasn’t to be used as tools; instead, they were meant to help you locate the fourteen legions that once aided you in defending the universe.”
“Wait, you said there were fourteen celestials, but thirteen ran. So, where did the fourteen legions come from?”
Vexthra smiled again. She was baffled when reading the records, so hearing Kent ask such a question made her even more baffled.
“The 13 celestials indeed run away from this universe, but their absence was filled by different warriors. They are known in the primordial records as the 14 Doom Legions.”
“One legion was the Undead Legion led by Kaizo, the Undying Titan. The second was the Sixty-Six Riders of the Night, led by the greatest warrior of all time, Kael Duskbane. Then there was the Soul Sentinel led by Astra Sentinel.
The Fourteen Lost Knights led by Veydris, the Abyss Knight…”

The more Vexthra spoke the names, the more Kent started to feel something huge was missing in his life. Every name felt like a memory, a promise, a destiny missing.
“The legend has it that when the darkness fell over everything, the Chaos Dragon looked up and smiled, and then he ripped his soul out and made a call that transcended the boundaries of space and time.
‘I call the Legion of the Fourteen, heed the call of the Master, and take up arms.’
He shattered his soul; from what was recorded, it shattered into fourteen pieces and then seven.
From the fourteen shards, fourteen portals formed, and from within came the legions who arrived from all over time, answering the call of the one who stood tall when the heavens came crumbling down.”
Cough Cough
Vexthra coughed blood, but she smiled, showing her bloodstained teeth.
“The seven shards travelled through time and fell in places where they would wait for their owner to find them.
One of these shards created a Wraith Queen who was meant to bestow the power of darkness to the sixty-six generals who once fought to save the universe.
Then, when that was over, her heart, which is a piece of the shattered soul of the Chaos Dragon, was buried at the fourteenth level of hell.
Uncle Drew is the only one who can open the gate of the fourteenth level of hell, and Nara is the only one who can unseal the heart and retrieve the Shard of Knowledge.
This shard contains knowledge on how we can transcend and enter the celestial Universe. Like every other world, it has limits, and that is the celestial stage.
However, inside the shard of the knowledge is the way to transcend this limit, and it is a way if you are discovered to have Night Riders in your legion, gods will come after you and they won’t stop until they find the shard of knowledge.”
Kent took a deep sigh and then wiped the blood off Vexthra’s mouth and nose.
“You shouldn’t have paid this much just to tell me this. But thank you for telling me. I now know my existence is much more special than I thought.
For now, sleep.”
Vexthra was a god, but when Kent spoke just now, she obeyed, closing her eyes instantly. A few minutes after she fell asleep, Dori appeared.
“Are you sure, Master? Those are her memories of you when you were known as Chaos. She cherishes them, so locking them is like taking something big from her.”
“I know that, Dori, but look at her. The longer she remembers this, the more toll it will have on her. I can’t watch her suffer, so for now, lock her memories.”
“Okay, Master.”
Dori was reluctant but obeyed and locked the memories of what Vexthra had learned about Kent’s past. When she was done, she vanished back into the tower.
Kent took a big sigh.
⟪You do know locking her memories wouldn’t be enough, right? I calculated she will lose her divinity within the next seven years.
She has committed a grave karma by telling you about your past, and as such, she will have to pay the price.⟫
A familiar voice entered Kent’s head. The enchantress, who gave him the Enchanted Book and allowed him to awaken the Eye of Enchantment, spoke into his head.
“How can I help her?” Kent asked with a deep sigh.
