Chapter 499: Before the Parting
The lady led them into a quiet hallway. The walls were smooth, made of polished wood. Soft lights glowed from the ceiling, casting a warm light.

Vexthra didn’t say anything this time. She just followed behind the lady and Kent beside her until they entered the room.

They reached a small room. Inside was a table, two chairs, and a large storage crystal set in the wall.

“Please wait here. It will take just a couple of minutes,” the lady said, placing the golden herb box on the table.

Vexthra sat down slowly. Kent did the same and crossed his arms on his chest.

The lady bowed and left the room, closing the door behind her.

Vexthra looked at the herb box, then at Kent. “I still don’t know why I did that.”

Kent smiled. “Because you’re kind.”

Vexthra raised a brow. “I’m not. At least not to people I just met”

Kent laughed softly. “Well, maybe just a little. You didn’t kill me when I made my move on you.”

Vexthra just smirked.

A few minutes later, the lady returned. She held a small token. It glowed with a faint gold light.

“The exchange has been approved. This is your confirmation token. The herb now belongs to you,” she said, handing it to Vexthra.

She looked excited as she handed the token to her. Though the sale she had just made wasn’t truly in her name, it would be recorded, raising her status in the store to a new level.

“Please, you can rest here while we work on gathering the herbs you want. I will come and inform you after we are done.” Kent nodded, and she left.

Kent then looked at the herb box. “Are you buying this for Lilian to use in tempering her body?” Kent asked.

“Yes. She is currently tempering her body using the Ice Heart Flower. That will take her ice element to a higher level, giving her more control. So I don’t want her flame to lag behind,” Vexthra responded.

“It’s just too bad I made a blunder, and I can already tell it’s starting to escalate,” Vexthra sighed.

“Hey, you want to know how mortals live since you’ve forgotten? I’d say you’ve already seen a part of it, and in case you are not aware, you are already kicking it.” Kent laughed.

Vexthra pinched him as a blush appeared on her cheeks. Kent decided to tell her what had change since the last time she was here.

“In case you’re unaware, the highest grade of skills, techniques, or spells in this world is the Mystical grade. From what I know, only the kings are privileged to have such skills.

So, you pulling a technique that’s just a step away from becoming a Mystical grade cannot be ignored.”

Kent knew she was really trying to be considerate, but what she wasn’t aware of was that the world had changed since the last time she was in it. The world she grew up in had changed.

“Looks like everything has changed now. When I was still in this world, there were even Divine grade skills, and even a few Immortal grade ones,” Vexthra said with a deep sigh.

“Things are different now. After the Parting, the limit placed on all Medium Worlds took effect. So I can only assume the skills—and those who survived and were higher than the Core Formation—were forcefully ascended.” Kent was just making a guess, but his guess was validated by Vexthra.

“That was indeed what happened. Whenever a world is parted, all those above the limit are forcibly ascended to a random High World.

Some unfortunate ones even find themselves in Unique Worlds, where survival is rather difficult.”

“That seems unfair. They should at least let them decide, not just get thrown into a random world,” Kent said, but Vexthra just smiled.

“That is how it’s designed. If your luck is good, you will appear in a world that can support your growth further.

Otherwise, you can only do your best to find one that can help you. After all, from the High Worlds onwards, you can travel to other worlds using spatial channels.

The fun starts from the High Worlds, where you can always find something interesting. It used to be interesting here, though—before the Parting, that is.”

Vexthra smiled under her veil.

“Tell me how it was before the Parting,” Kent asked, and Vexthra nodded.

“Before the Parting, there were seven known continents. The first was the continent for the Beast Race, which included the Dragons.

Though they don’t call themselves beasts anymore—simply because they consider themselves superior to others—back then, they were a part of the Beast Race, with the Qilin Emperor presiding over them.” Vexthra paused and looked at Kent’s expression.

“Oh, come on. I wouldn’t be offended by something like that. But even if I did, you’re my woman, and I’m not a complete dragon yet, so we’re fine,” Kent laughed, making Vexthra giggle as well.

“So there was the Beast Race, comprising all the different Beastkin and the Dragons.

Then came the Demon Race, which had seven demon states: the Incubus, Succubus, Flame Demon, Ice Demon, Shadow Demon, Stone Demon, and Dark Elves.

Though they are elves, the real Elven Race doesn’t welcome them, so they became one with the demons. Naturally, the demons were lucky to have them.

Then there was the Elven Race, which housed the High Elves, Normal Elves, and Half-Elves. Though later on, the Normal Elves slaughtered every last High Elf, so you won’t find them on this continent anymore.

There was the Dwarven Race, too. They were the most prosperous race in this world, even to this day. I would love to explore that continent one of these days,” Vexthra said, and Kent could only nod.

“I also would like to see how luxurious the most prosperous continent in the world looks,” Kent said, actually looking forward to it even more than Vexthra.

The Dwarves are known as great miners. So, since Kaizo can only grow by consuming metals, he wants to go there and try his luck.

Naturally, when it comes to money, he will never run out.

“But aside from the Dwarves, there was also the Human Race, which was one of the most powerful races back then. They had many human champions.

I wonder whether they still do and just choose to hide them. But the Human Race I knew was very powerful. I had many human friends back then.”

Vexthra sighed.

“Wait, you said there were seven known continents. Who are the other two? As far as I know, only the ones you mentioned exist now. So what happened to the other two”
