Chapter 528: Infiltrating the Dreadclaw Tribe
“Velyra wasn’t exaggerating when she said the Dreadclaw Tribe is full of demihumans with lightning affinity.”

Kent said as he stood atop a tall mountain overlooking the large expanse of forest and jagged mountain ranges.

The entire environment was filled with lightning, and the pressure from the storm could be felt from miles away. He was exactly 10 miles out, but he was already scanning the forest, looking for a path to take.

Two hours later, something caught Kent’s attention.

Nine miles away, five individuals appeared at the border, seemingly acting as guards. Kent knew his chance had come.

“Though I could use my demi-dragon form to enter, it’s a good thing I didn’t. These people are more beastly than I would have looked.”

The five who appeared were more beast than human.

Three were tigerkins. They had the head of a tiger and the body of a man, with claws sharper than one could imagine.

However, even though their bodies were humanoid, they were covered in fur, clearly showing they were more beast than man.

The only difference between them and actual beasts was their inability to fully assume a human appearance and the fact that not all of them could transform into a full beast form.

One was a rabbitkin, with ears as long as a rabbit’s. His face was human-like but had rabbit whiskers and beast-like eyes. Both his hands and legs were clawed.

The fifth was a foxkin. He looked more handsome than the rest despite his fox-like features.

“They don’t look too bad,” Kent said to himself as he started moving closer. From his scan of their aura, he found the strongest among them to be the foxkin, who was at the peak of the Root Ascension stage.

He knew it would be through him that he would enter the Dreadclaw Tribe.

After advancing and closing the distance to just two miles between himself and the five guards, he stopped and began looking for the right opportunity to strike.

Meanwhile, at the border of the Dreadclaw Tribe, the five beastkins stood guard, unaware of the danger approaching.

“In five days, we won’t have to stand guard here anymore,” one of them, named Thokk, said. His friends nodded at his words.

“Indeed. The moment we handle those Bloodveins, they’ll become our slaves. I wonder if I’ll get a slave of my own,” Lonki, the rabbitkin, said with a lustful expression.

“Relax. My uncle is a Root Sovereign, one of the main forces of the alliance. He said the chances of each of us getting a slave are very high,” Karvar, one of the tiger demihumans, said.

“He even said we’ll get to choose.”

“I just want one night with the priestess. That’s all I want,” Zark, another Tiger demihuman, said with a smile.

“Don’t flatter yourself, Zark. The priestess can only be enjoyed by the tribe chief and perhaps the elders, or the Prince. Peasants like us can only go after the ordinary Bloodveins,” Thokk said, making the rest laugh.

“What about you, Larkas? Do you have plans to get a slave of your own?” Zark asked.

“Isn’t that obvious? I plan on getting two, considering I’m stronger than all four of you. I believe they should share the spoils based on military contribution,” Larkas answered.

“You bastard! We all want one—why should you have two?” Zark didn’t like the tone Larkas used. However, they all knew that if someone in authority heard Larkas’s words, they wouldn’t criticize him.

He had indeed made a valid point.

The strong ought to receive the best rewards, after all. The only downside was that he didn’t tell them it was the plan of the superiors. But they would find out soon enough, so it wasn’t like he was lying.

“Relax, you four. We must first survive the battle before thinking of our gains.

Though our alliance is large, we don’t trust the Soulshrouds. And while I’d love to say the Bloodveins are done for, they are the strongest for a reason—so we have to be prepared,” Larkas said, and his friends nodded.

“Don’t worry. My uncle, the Root Sovereign, told me that both our tribes have recently acquired something that can aid us. I believe if we do our part, we’ll walk out victorious,” Karvar said.

All five nodded. They had also heard rumors about that, so they planned to do their part and, hopefully, enjoy the benefits.

Kent, who was clearly hearing them speak, let out a deep sigh, but a frown was visible on his face.

They had openly said they would be taking slaves, and as someone who frowned on slavery, this made him want to kill every last one of them.

But he held himself back and chose to stick to the plan.

“If I kill them now, their disappearance will spark unease among the tribe. I can only kill them all during the battle to come in five days.” He knew they had to die, so he would let them enjoy the next few days breathing the air of life.

After another three hours, the strongest among them, Larkas, excused himself and moved a couple of miles away to relieve himself.

Kent moved silently, using his superior Chaos and spiritual energy to evade their senses. A couple of meters away, Larkas came to a stop. But before he could unzip, his head came rolling off.

Kent quickly absorbed his memories, scanning through everything within a minute.

“Looks like he had a decent life. Too bad he chose the path of evil,” he said, then crouched down and activated the [Perfect Disguise] skill Vexthra had given him.

It took a few minutes, but he replicated Larkas’s features to the last detail.

Even his clothes were copied, and Kent had fully taken on Larkas’s form within five minutes. He examined his new body for a few minutes, and after confirming that every last detail was perfect, he left to rejoin the others.

He made sure Larkas’s real body was absorbed into the Necro Forge. No one would ever find him.

“For a moment there, I thought you were giving birth, Larkas,” Zark said with a mocking smile.

“Shut up, Zark. I had a lot to eat yesterday.” The others laughed.

Just like that, Kent had infiltrated the domain of the Dreadclaws.

This meant he could now begin his mission—to uncover what was making the Dreadclaw and the Soulshroud tribes so confident in defying the Bloodveins and believing they would come out victorious.
