Chapter 530: Mission Assignment
Kent stayed at the peak of the mountain for the entire duration of the night. When day broke, he left for the mission assignment.
He met up with his friends first.
“How was your night, Larkas?” Lonki asked.
“Blissful,” Kent had to answer, watching the expressions of his friends to see if perhaps Lovina had informed them of his sudden exit the previous night.
However, seeing they were unaware of his situation, he sighed in his heart. His performance of the Larkas persona was indeed impeccable.
Larkas had anxiety issues and a constant need to seek the approval of others. So Kent was living the persona well, making the two best friends not suspect a thing despite being with Larkas for close to 70 years already.
“I’ll see you guys later,” Kent said to his two friends before running off.
A few minutes later, he appeared in a large section of land where close to 600 people stood, each holding or hanging a sword in its sheath.
They were swordsmen of the Dreadclaw tribe, and General Low, a catkin with sharper features, stood at the front facing everyone.
However, what made him different from the rest was his cultivation, which was at the peak of the Sovereign stage, and the fact that his sword aura and qi were at the profound stage.
Kent scanned him, aiming only for his status page.
⟦Name: Low Chanji⟧
⟦Age: 243⟧
⟦Cultivation: Peak Root Sovereign⟧
⟦Class: Swordsman (Sage)⟧
⟦Sword Qi: Profound (LvL 8)⟧
⟦Sword Intent: Profound (LvL 9)⟧
‘I see. I guess he has the qualifications to lead 600-plus swordsmen,’ Kent thought as he walked and joined the line.
Larkas himself was a Sword Saint, so Kent wasn’t worried, considering his understanding of the sword was higher than Larkas’s.
Though he is a sword Grandmaster, Jest, his past incarnation was at the sword Saint stage, so he is sorted in that department.
After a while, the last swordsman joined the line. General Low walked forward and started addressing everyone.
“Listen up. I know by now you are all aware of the rumors going around—that we have joined forces with the Soulshroud Tribe to evade the Bloodvein Tribe. The rumors are indeed true.
We are now in an alliance with the Soulshroud to bring the Bloodvein to their knees.
In four days, we march toward the domain of the Bloodvein Tribe, and per our mission orders, we will be attacking first, considering most of the Bloodveins are swordsmen.
Our mission is simply to keep them busy so our tribe chief and the elders can engage the top brass of the Bloodvein Tribe. The moment they take them off the board, the other units will join us to destroy their army.
Know that because of the alliance, we will fight side by side with the warriors from the Soulshroud Tribe.
I will only say this once. Regardless of your personal issues with them, don’t let your anger get the best of you and attack them. They are our allies, so we must join forces to kill our enemies.
Once the battle is over, nobody will stop you if you still want to settle your differences. But during the battle, don’t attack them, for the punishment is death.”
“Do I make myself clear?”
“Yes, General,” everyone, including Kent, said. He had to play his part, and so far, he was doing an impeccable job.

“Good to hear that. To the last thing, Prince Ebert is asking for two swordsmen to join his unit. Naturally, I would ask you to duel it out; however, due to the urgent nature of the request, I brought a mage to help out.
All your names have been submitted, and he will use his methods to select the names based on how destined you are to become a guard of a Core Formation expert.
Know that if you survive the battle, you will be rewarded by the prince.”
The sudden mention of becoming the prince’s guard was rather inviting. The prince was one of the few who could take on a full beast form.
He and his family were Pantherkin, so a majestic silver panther would appear when he took his true form. He is also one of their powerhouses.
In the past, he had shown his true form, but getting to be his guard meant you wouldn’t only be privy to some secrets, but you would also be on the frontline—and the first to pick from the loot if you survived.
‘Tower, you already know what to do.’ Kent saw an opportunity, and he planned to seize it. He planned to get close to the Chief of the Dreadclaw Tribe.
Becoming a guard of the prince was the easiest way to get what he wanted. So he asked his overpowered tower to help, knowing this would be a walk in the park for the tower.
A man walked forward and waved his staff. From the wave, 703 orbs—matching the number of swordsmen—appeared in the air. Suddenly, they all started exploding until only two were left.
He waved his staff again, and the two orbs flew toward General Low, who caught them and squeezed. Two names appeared in his palm.
“Kalva and Larkas, step forward.”
The sudden mention of the two names caused everyone to turn and look at the two smiling individuals as they walked forward.
“Lucky bastards.” That was all anyone who wanted to become a guard could say. Kent and the other chosen swordsman stepped forward.
Kalva was a Lionkin.
“Follow me. The rest, go handle your affairs—we convene here in two days,” General Low said as he led Kent and Kalva away. On the way, Kalva turned and smiled at Kent.
“I’m Kalva,” he introduced himself.
“I’m Larkas. Nice meeting you,” Kent replied, knowing their interaction would likely end there. His mission was now nearing completion. He had already made his first move, and the second—and final—was about to happen.
After walking for a few minutes, they entered a large house that was, without a doubt, the home of the tribe chief. General Low led them along a stone path until they came to a stop in front of a building.
Out front stood two individuals, each at the peak of the Root Sovereign stage. They were Batkin, with auras that rivaled most Core Formation experts in the human world.
“I’m here to see Prince Ebert. These are the two he asked for.”
The Batkins smirked at Kent and Kalva before one of them went to call the prince. A few minutes later, he returned with the prince, who walked out with his arms wrapped around the waists of two Rabbitkin.
“A fox, huh? General Low, you sure know how to make my day.”Prince Ebert said, smiling in Kent’s direction.
Kent immediately disliked the prince, so he branded his soul and planted a soul bomb in it.
