Chapter 597: Source of The Curse
Kent paid close attention to Shax’s soul, but he couldn’t believe what he had just heard, even after confirming she wasn’t lying.
‘…This doesn’t make any sense. I mean, didn’t Elaine’s father say the curse was something that came from the Dark Region? Then why in the hell would Shax say the curse came from the patriarch of the Wynthrall family?’
Kent turned and looked at Elaine. She wore an expression that showed she was in shock and disbelief.
‘This doesn’t make sense at all.’ Kent wasn’t accepting this explanation. Yet, in a twisted kind of way, it made sense.
It was like he, in an unusual way, suspected something like this.
But that just doesn’t make any sense. How can a whole patriarch curse his own bloodline and then ascend, leaving them to wither in despair, knowing they will never rise to their former glory again?
‘…I will probably have a sit-down with this patriarch if our paths cross one of these days. I mean, what kind of twisted psycho does that?’
“Tell me more about what you know…” Kent said. “Scratch that, tell me everything you know, and please, I don’t want to know about your sex life, so be mindful of what you say.”
Shax, who knew he had nothing more to lose, sighed and decided to speak.
“Before the Battle of Parting, the human race was one of the strongest in the world. It had many powerhouses, most of whom came from the Wynthrall family.
However, while it looked like everything was peaceful on the surface, something sinister was happening beneath it.
The ancient race, which is what we call it now, was actually known as Vampires back then and was at war with the Wynthrall family.
The reason behind this hidden war was the blood of the Wynthrall family. From what I know, it contains some unique qualities that make the vampires like it.
However, the Wynthrall family was not easy, so they fought back. However, during the Battle of Parting, something happened that forced the Wynthrall family head to make a bold and sinister choice.
From what I know, he picked the best and brightest of his family and sent them away just when the Parting happened.
They transcended to a high world, and then he used the blood of those still here to seal the Dark Region forever, putting the vampires in an eternal sleep.
So, basically, he made the bold choice to save his best and brightest and sacrifice the ones he deemed a waste. However, this wasn’t just a decision he made because he wanted to seal the vampires.
According to the accounts of those who witnessed this battle, the curse was a sacrifice in which the potential of those left behind in the Wynthrall was given to those who ascended.
It was more sinister, ultimately dooming the human race. But that is not what we are interested in, considering that aside from the Wynthrall, the vampires are also obsessed with the sea race.”
“And why is that?”
“Because during the reign of the Wynthrall family of the human race, they shared a good relationship with the sea race. This relationship led to many hybrids being born; I know the vampires want these hybrids.
Our end game was to get the ascension platforms; the rest could take care of itself. Regardless of how things ended between the vampires and the sea people, that is none of our business. We only want one Ascension platform.”
And just like that, everything made sense to Kent.
The seal was actually the curse that suppressed the Wynthrall family bloodline, and shockingly, the one who cast the spell was the patriarch of the Wynthrall family. That is the next level of crazy twist.
But that also made some sense. In a way, Kent understood why he had to do that. But the question was, why didn’t he send everyone from his family away and let the other race, like the Dragons or Elves, handle the mess?
The answer, however, was that the patriarch didn’t just divide his family; he took the potential of the ones he was leaving behind and gave it to those he deemed family geniuses.
That is akin to looking in the face of those he was leaving behind and sticking his middle finger up their asses. That was really evil, and Kent didn’t know if it was the air that was growing hot or something else.
“Calm down, Elaine. You will get your revenge on that scum of a family head one day,” Vexthra, who knew the source of the heat, said.
Elaine has an affinity for abyssal energy, so she directly affects the air when her emotions stir. Not that she was prohibited from feeling angry. The bastard truly deserves to be killed.
“Don’t worry, my love, I will hunt him down for you. Even if he becomes a god, I will make sure he regrets his decision,” Kent said, holding Elaine’s hands.

Shax, who understood what was happening, was in a state of shock. It felt bizarre to him that a descendant of a powerful race that had once lived in this world was right before him.
‘So a Wynthrall still walks this world. The vampires would most certainly hunt her down,’ Shax said in his mind.
‘…if the Dark Elves don’t first.’
Kent turned and looked at the demon with an amused expression, almost as if he knew what he was thinking. However, he said nothing and instead focused on the thought that a patriarch had cursed his family.
Yet, knowing all this, Kent knew there was more to it than simply knowing that the patriarch of one powerful family had doomed half his family.
He could tell there were some hidden details that he couldn’t place his finger on. The first thought to get his answers was to visit the Sea Race.
Since they house hybrids produced from the union of the Sea Race and the Wynthralls, the best place to learn what really happened is there.
“You have been useful, Shax, but I am not done with you, so why don’t we continue our conversation somewhere else?” Kent paused and looked at Velyra.
“That is, if you don’t mind, my love.”
Velyra smiled and shook her head, saying, “If he is helpful to you, then take him away. I have already gotten what I wanted out of the way.”
She indeed got what she wanted out of the way. It took over a day, but she let out her frustration.
“In that case, see you ladies later.” Kent took Shax and sent him directly to the legion tower, where his undead legion, the Eternal Wrath legion, and Veydris were training.
It was like Kent took Shax from a frying pan into hot, burning lava.
