Chapter 625: Midnight Shadows [Bonus]
Guardianship!

That was one of the many towers Kent had in his overpowered Tower system. It allowed him to become the protector of anyone he chose.

The time he awakened the guardian tower was when he became Li Hua’s guardian, after he found her grandma half-dead in the woods. Since then, he hadn’t added anyone to the Guardian Tower.

However, now, he was on the verge of adding a race close to a million foxkins that were more powerful than anyone could even imagine.

The responsibility was huge, but Kent didn’t even want to start imagining what would happen when he became their guardian.

“Becoming the guardian of an entire race, huh? I wonder what will be required of me then.” Kent had to spend a day getting accustomed to his strength before meeting the king and his subjects.

Queen Amorian, the two princesses, and the two princes were also there. But aside from them, Array Emperor Ashfur was also present.

He was surprisingly much older than everyone there, or more like he looked much older than everyone there.

Some immortals looked no older than 20, so it was normal for him to be much younger than the king but appear older than him.

However, in this instance, Array Emperor Ashfur was actually much older than King Hkum and the five elders. This raised questions about his age.

Kent, of course, had to look, considering he felt some form of danger from the old man when their gazes met. So he checked, and what he saw made him wonder many things inwardly.

⟦Name: Ashfur Blinton⟧

⟦Age: 21,900⟧

⟦Class: Array Emperor⟧

⟦Rank: Spirit Emperor (Lvl 7)⟧

⟦Secondary Class: Shadowblade⟧

‘He is an assassin, and judging by the feeling I am getting, he is one terrifying assassin.’ Kent was taken aback, but he didn’t do much to draw his attention to himself.

Of course, that didn’t mean he had to wipe the information he managed to extract without making it look extreme.

However, the last line of information he received was rather unsettling, prompting him to question who exactly the man sitting across from him was.

⟦Affiliation: Member of the Midnight Shadows⟧

He knew the man before him was dangerous. But since they were on the same side, or so it seemed, he had to appear friendly and make sure he didn’t make it look too obvious.

“Kent, this is Array Emperor Ashfur. He is responsible for every last array you see around this city. If not for his heaven-defying creations, we would have lost this city long ago,” King Hkum said, introducing the mysterious Shadowblade, who held a calm smile on his face.

“Pleasure meeting you, Array Emperor. I was blown away when I saw the wyvern when I first got here…” Kent said with a polite smile.

Array Emperor Ashfur smiled. “You can just call me Sir Ashfur, and I’m glad to hear the brother of our Supreme Advisor likes my creations. I am honored.”

‘And that is the hook right there. This man is dangerous…’ Kent smiled, putting on a happy expression.

“If I have time, I will come around to see if I can learn a thing or two from you… I happen to have a thing for arrays and formations.”

Sir Ashfur smiled and then responded, “I will be glad to have you at my shop.”

The king and his subjects smiled, watching Kent and Sir Ashfur get along. It didn’t take long for Queen Amorian to change the subject.

“So, Kent, we have to favor asking. I know we don’t know each other very well, but per the direction of our Supreme Advisor, we couldn’t help but ask if you would like to become our Guardian.

I know it is a lot to ask, but we saw what you can do, and due to that, though we are asking too much, we want to ask of you this…”

Kent nodded, hearing her words. It was indeed true that if you want something done well, a lady is the right choice to lead.

Her words showed she was still skeptical about what Dori asked them to do, but she also saw what Kent could do; as such, she knew there was something more to this.

Kent knew that they were skeptical about many things, so he wanted to ensure they were all on the same page.

“To be frank, I don’t have to be your guardian to help you, and trust me, you wouldn’t have to pay a dime for me to become your guardian.

However, asking me to become your guardian will require me to make difficult decisions, such as migrating everyone when the danger is too great to bear.

Although I don’t see that happening.

But aside from that, I will also have to implement my security measures because trust me, when I become your guardian, I will be bound to you all, and that bond makes me responsible for everyone.

And as a guardian, I can’t allow even a single one of you to come to any harm. Therefore, I will implement some extreme security measures, which I believe are for the best.

So before we get down to the big question, I want to ask: do you trust me enough to give me this much privilege over your people?”

The king and his people entered a brief contemplation. What they were asking of Kent was indeed something that would make him someone akin to a god.

They would depend on him, and he would be responsible for ensuring their protection. As a guardian, he must ensure all those he is looking after are safe.

He didn’t know what would happen if he couldn’t protect them, but it was also something he wasn’t ready to handle.

Meanwhile, while the king and his people were thinking for a moment, Vexthra reached out to Kent.

‘Kent, I think the person who is affiliated with the Midnight Shadows can be trusted. The Midnight Shadows is a righteous assassin organization scattered across High Worlds, Immortal, God, Supreme, and even Celestial Worlds.

They are said to be loyal followers of a once-renowned lethal assassin who was only known by his code name. Many don’t even know if he was a he or she, but he went by the codename Faceless Assassin.’

Kent’s brow raised…
