Chapter 630: The Path Forward [Bonus]
Jest emerged from the Dao Realm a different person.
He spent 20 years in an enlightened state, still inside the Sword Valley. When he woke up, he felt like he had what it took to surpass all else. He felt that his time to rise had come, so he left and began to walk his path.
However, 20 more years passed, and he hadn’t even moved a single step on his sword path. Aside from becoming the best Sword Saint there is, he hadn’t made any progress.
“I clearly know what has to be done, but why am I not making any progress even after 20 years?” Jest wondered. He didn’t know why.
The plan was to reach the peak, yet even after such a breakthrough, he made no progress. It was a blow to his ego as a swordsman.
But Jest was a patient man. He had been patient for years, so he could be patient again. Thus, another ten years passed, but still there was no progress.
At this point, his patience was wearing thin, so when he heard someone had become a sword emperor, it was a blow to him.
“Why… I ventured into the realm of the Dao, saw the Dao face-to-face, and even gained enlightenment, so why can’t I make progress on my path? Am I destined to fail?” Jest was in a state of breakdown at this point.
What he didn’t know, however, was that meeting the Dao and returning alive was a blessing to the entire Universe and a curse to him.
Some things are not meant to happen.
One of them is talking to Laws (Dao). But Jest did, and that was his curse, yet a blessing to everyone else. So, while he was struggling, his peers and the new generation were making progress.
By the time Jest turned 100 years old, he was ready to give up.
However, he still had a promise he couldn’t bring himself to break.
“I can’t go on like this,” he said. He knew if he gave up, the slave mine would forever be there, and he wouldn’t be able to do anything to save his family.
He knew that, though they might think he was dead, he wouldn’t be able to forgive himself if he just gave up.
His dream of saving them would also wash away with his failure.
So he went into seclusion, and this time, he made a promise to himself—one that would stick with him for the years to come.
“I will be the first to reach the peak.”
The legend of Lord Genesis wasn’t one that saw him rise to the peak alone; it was one that saw him be the first to reach the peak.
There were others, but only he reached the peak, and this was due to a decision that one day would be called the Primordial Path, as opposed to the one he had tried to walk and failed—the Primitive Path.
Before, he was walking the Primitive Path, one that was good but not the best. This time, he aspired to walk his own path, and to do that, he had to fight against his destiny.
In other words, he had to fight against the Dao, and that began when he made up his mind. He decided to walk the path he deemed fit for him.
Thus, the sword mind was formed. His five years in seclusion were all about creating the various ways a swordsman can parry.
It was said that the day he came out, a single parry of his sword could cleave through any defense and shatter any sword.
A determined man, focused keenly on perfecting just parrying with his sword, and the result was wild. So he entered seclusion again, and for ten more years, he took the parry to a new level, ultimately turning it into something known as the Single Swing.
When he stood before the Slave Mine, a single swing was all it took to bring the whole place down. He fulfilled his promise and saved his people.
But that was when his life took a chaotic turn. The first ten years after he destroyed the slave mine, he was chased down by a powerful cultivator.
He killed most, and from many he ran. However, he never lost a fight.
He had indeed made many enemies, but never in his wildest dreams did he think that with a single determined mindset, he would be able to create a decisive sword move.
So, on the run, Jest created the first 15 sword moves, which evolved into 50 over the next few months, and then 1,000 the following year.

By the end of the tenth year, he had made 1,600,000 sword moves, laying the foundation for the Genesis sword path.
The foundation of the Genesis sword path was one of the most robust and perhaps the most sturdy in the history of the universe.
Jest then went ahead and built upon his foundation, taking his sword path from the novice stage to the Sword King stage, finally awakening the Heavenly Sword aura and intent. It was at this point that the legend of the Mind Swordsman started to rise.
They said he practiced his sword in his mind, and regardless of how good you were, a single glance was all he needed to master your sword moves.
This wasn’t because Jest was a machine. No, it was because, in his quest to create the foundation for his sword path, he had mastered every possible sword move there could be. Every calculation, every possibility—everything was included in his 1.6 million sword moves.
So he became someone who could master any swordplay with just a glance. His legend reached its peak, and while nobody said it, his importance on the path of the sword—or as most said, the path of the weapon—was supreme.
By the time Jest turned 200 years old, he had become a Sword Emperor, someone who stood at the pinnacle of his world. He was respected and loved by all.
But Jest knew there were more paths to rise to and more adventures to be had. So he decided to travel to the immortal worlds, where the dangers were much more harrowing.
