Chapter 643: The One Without a Face [Bonus]
Jaqen was his name—a name spoken only once and never to be heard again. His mother was the only one to call him that, and she died a few minutes after.
So his name was lost to time, and so was his face.
Jaqen was a child born of the union between an assassin and her target. He was never meant to exist in the first place. Thus, his name was never mentioned again.
When his mother chose to fall in love instead of kill, his fate was sealed. His destiny was written, and his life was marked with a number.
They called him Seventeen, the one who was to die when he turned seventeen. His blood was meant to serve as the awakening ritual to appease the immortals.
The Shadows were those who killed his mother and chose him to be used as a lamb for sacrifice. His destiny was written, and so was theirs.
What nobody realized was that Jaqen was no normal person, and that planning his life to the end was their own mistake.
The Faceless Art was a gift left behind by his mother, said to awaken when he turned sixteen. However, it changed his appearance long before the Shadows found him. His face was only known to his mother.
So he accepted his birthright at sixteen, and when he was seventeen, he killed the first thousand people. His life was meant to end when he turned seventeen, but by then, he had ended a thousand lives.
And that was when he lost his identity. The first person he killed was a guard. Then the guard killed the leader of all the guards.
The leader then killed one elder of the Shadows, one of the notorious assassination organizations in Klipton. They were the deadliest of all assassins.
Kings, emperors, and monarchs feared them. They were untouchable.
However, they fell because of a seventeen-year-old boy who had too much anger bottled up, and despite not having the means to kill, he managed somehow to end their lives, learning as he did it.
The elder killed the grand elder, and the grand elder killed the second general, who also went ahead and killed the first general before Lord Assassin himself found himself staring at his headless body.
By the time he was done, he forgot how he looked when he started killing. It was the most bizarre thing, but he accepted his reality, and that was when—or how—the Faceless Assassin was unleashed.
He had no recollection of how he looked, but he accepted himself, and however he looked, he made it his own.
Kent opened his eyes with a calm look on his face.
“This is crazy,” he muttered, looking at the sky.
What he had just seen was a person who takes on the face of those he killed and lives their life perfectly. He was an actor, someone who could portray someone else’s life as if it were an act.
His perfection was too flawless ever to doubt. He played his role perfectly, and in the end, he managed to kill even a Root Immortal whole, only at the Spirit Ascension stage.
“I need to break his record. I must kill an immortal before I reach the Spirit Ascension stage,” Kent smiled. Of all he saw in Faceless’s memories, he was a very meticulous person.
He killed most of his targets from several miles away.
“He was one terrifying accident creator. He is good, and that was just the first forty-five years of his life.” Kent nodded with a satisfied expression.
He never truly understood how some of the kills occurred, but every time Faceless used his brain to kill, it was always successful.
“I was awesome,” Kent laughed. He was very proud of himself. Not that it wasn’t weird—it was strange—but it was his life, so he could live it however he wanted.
He sighed and then accessed the Faceless Art.
It was a straightforward technique that offered numerous benefits. First, aside from being able to change his face, he could also alter his voice and even modify his body shape.
It was just like the Perfect Disguise skill Vexthra gave Kent.
However, this one copied the person’s memories and, to some extent, suppressed the user’s memories almost to the point that if they remained in their new persona, they would forget their true self.
It was one terrifying skill that made Kent wonder where his mother had gotten it from. But in the end, he learned it. He knew it would come in handy somehow.

He wasn’t planning on becoming the Faceless Assassin. However, he was also not about to discard such a powerful technique.
He knew it would come in handy one of these days.
“Now, the only thing left for me to do is find a way to get to the immortal worlds so I can kill an immortal and make Faceless’s record obsolete.”
He laughed and then lay down, deciding to catch some rest before returning to his training. It had already been over twenty years since he entered seclusion, and during that time, a great deal had happened.
First, the humans in the tower were all thriving. They were all powerful cultivators now. Fifteen years ago, Akira ensured that they all underwent a ritual in which she bestowed upon them some powerful classes.
This was something Kent told her to do. Afterward, they underwent rigorous training that gradually elevated them to the top, much like the warriors they were meant to be.
Gaia wanted to ensure that the first humans in the tower would one day become beings capable of handling the many races her master would add. She spared no expense helping them.
Now, they were all training in and out of the dungeons. As for the Bloodvein Tribe, they were now more monstrous than before.
The tribe chief had raised his chaos affinity to the Perfect stage. Over the last twenty years, he had undergone two additional evolutions, placing him at the pinnacle of the core formation stage.
Gaia gave him a treasure to strengthen his foundation. This, of course, involved training inside the dungeons, and as a race known for war and killing, he had improved tremendously.
But he wasn’t the only one. Hundreds of Bloodvein warriors were growing at a speed many kingdoms would fear.
Then came Kent’s harem.
