Chapter 416: Celebrations
The sun hung high in the sky as it shone down upon the serene planet of Eldaris.
The sky was blue, basking everything currently on the daylight site of the planet in its warmth and blue light.
Everything seemed ordinary at first glance, until it didn’t.
All was calm, except for a small area in an unnamed forest nearby a Red Demon base camp…
In this small area, the shrubbery, trees and everything in the surroundings were submerged in a dark, crimson red light.
The source of such light, could only be described as two absolutely stunning figures who had just donned a piece of glimmering red armour.
Alex and Mira had spent long enough observing their new equipment, and couldn’t wait a second longer before trying it on.
And what could they say…?
It felt… magical when they did so.
They felt a sort of dominating aura descend upon themselves and their surroundings as soon as their armour was equipped, which could only be due to the Sovereign’s aura ability of their armour coming into effect.
As it did so, their strength would be passively increased by 10% at all times, as long as the armour was on.
It was quite a change, to say the least, considering their strength by now.
10% of their current strength was nothing to scoff at, after all…
The eerie crimson glow from their armour sustained itself for a few more moments before their surroundings gradually returned back to normal, and any obvious sign that something big had just happened in the area was now erased.
The sensation of increased power was unusual, as for the first time, Mira was experiencing a strength increase from an external source.
Every other time any strength increase she received would be internal, coming from herself and her own power or an upgrade to her own abilities…
Alex had failed to notice any difference when he first obtained Virtue’s Edge due to how much weaker he was back then, but after donning his Evernight Sovereign armour, he could feel the difference.
In a way, it felt unnatural, but also… not at the same time?
Without experiencing it oneself, it would be quite difficult to put into words.
“Can you feel it?”
Alex asked, referring to the increase in power their armours gave them.
It was a steady, intoxicating feeling — one that made it easy to forget how precarious their situation was.
Mira nodded slowly, revelling in the feeling with her eyes still wide with awe.
“I… like this feeling.”
Now, Alex understood why this armour was explained with multiple mentions of the word ‘danger’.
Not only would it be dangerous to their enemies, but it could also be dangerous to themselves, just not in the same way.
The power boost, thanks to it being external and belonging to the armour, could become misleading for them.
If they spent a long time wearing the armour and got used to the feeling, they might lose touch with their own, real strength.
This could make them sloppier in battle, less focused, and more likely to die if they came across someone who could actually deal some damage to them despite all their defences, or if they were ever caught unaware without their armour on.
All sorts of scenarios ran through Alex’s mind, and all he wanted to do was just push them aside and focus on one thing, and one thing only.

Revenge.
Revenge against the Red Demons that had occupied the Telorn system, and the planet they step foot on.
Revenge for the countless human lives that had been lost not only in their hostile takeover of the Telorn system, but across the entire Milky way galaxy as a whole.
Now, Alex was ready to put his revenge into action, and strike the Red Demons where it hurt them the most.
Their top prodigies were Alex’s top priority.
He had already dealt with Varkoth, and just from the reactions of the Red Demons who had witnessed his death, as well as the fact that the Red Demon commander also came over upon Varkoth’s demise, showed Alex just how important the prodigies were to the Red Demons.
They were equally, if not even more, important than prodigies were to the human race.
“It’s about time we got to business.”
Alex put his serious face on as he spoke, not only to grab Mira’s attention, but to affirm his own decision one last time before undertaking what could quite possibly be his most ambitious challenge to date…

Blood flew everywhere as the laughter reigned throughout the camp, as the poor man who had just been dismembered couldn’t even comprehend his own demise before the Red Demons tore him apart looking for food and most importantly, his soul core.
“That’s the last one!”
The Red Demon who tore him apart shouted aloud, as if in a victory chant, and all the other Red Demons in the camp cheered alongside him.
“That’s this system officially rid of those insects then!”
A feminine voice rang out from the side, seductively calling out to the Red Demon at the helm of this celebration.
He had just killed the final human that remained in the entire Telorn system, the C+ rank Mutant class commander of the Federation’s defence forces for this star system.
The Red Demons liked to save the best for last…
“How many systems does that total under our control now then? I’ve lost count after the hundredth one!”
More laughter and a ruckus rang out after the Red Demon leader sent out one provocation after another towards the human race, mocking them for their weaknesses, their lack of awakened fighters compared to them, and practically everything else that fell short before their own race.
All in all, the Red Demon camp was a cacophony of chaos and revelry.
Bonfires constructed from human bones burned brightly, as the Red Demons danced wildly around them, chewing on whatever left over meat there was on said bones.
If Alex and Mira were to witness such a sight… who knows the kind of reaction they would have.
