Chapter 419: Don’t think, just do
Alex stood at the epicentre of the devastation, his posture still relaxed and the air around him still buzzing with residual energy.
His expression remained calm, in fact it even looked a little dull as he surveyed the now barren expanse before him.
The seductive female Red Demon who had tried to escape? Gone.
The brutes that had charged at him first with blind fury?
Vaporised.
All those who had spat in defiance? Not a trace of them left.
This was the result of Alex’s attack.
And yet, Alex felt like he had barely even put anything into it…
He glanced down at Virtue’s Edge — it was unmarked by the overwhelming attack it had just unleashed.
The glow around the blade dimmed slightly as it settled back into its dormant state, but other than that, Alex still felt vitalised with energy.
That attack had barely even taken a drop out of his overall energy capacity.
“Pitiful.”
He murmured again, this time louder as his voice echoed out through the empty land.
He scanned the surroundings one last time, confirming that not a single Red Demon remained.
And when he found nothing, he turned back to the forest nearby.
There, Mira was standing, staring in his direction with the face of a girlfriend who had caught her boyfriend in the act.
Her expression was a mix of exasperation and irritation as she stood at the edge of the now obliterated battlefield.
Her piercing eyes locked onto Alex like twin daggers, and her lips were drawn into a tight, thin line.
It was the same look she always wore when Alex had done something that really annoyed her.
Crossing her arms over her chest, she tapped her foot impatiently against the ground, the rhythm crowing sharper and more insistent with each passing second.
“Pitiful, huh?”
She mimicked his tone, laced with mockery as he began walking towards him.
Alex didn’t immediately respond, he just tilted his head slightly to the side, with the corner of his mouth twitching ever so slightly as if he was holding back a smirk.
Mira reached him in moments, stopping just a metre away.
“Think you’re some kind of anime character now or something?”
She laughed, clearly mocking Alex’s choice of words after just having essentially slaughtered thousands of Red Demons in the matter of a second.
“You wiped out an entire Red Demon base camp on your own, and you didn’t even think to wait for me?”
Alex blinked, feigning a look of innocence.
“I couldn’t contain myself after I saw the kinds of stuff they were doing in the camp!”
He said this nonchalantly while glancing at her like he didn’t see the issue.

“Besides, it wasn’t like I planned to finish them off so quickly. They were just… too weak.”
“Too weak? That’s your excuse?”
Mira huffed, raising her voice with incredulity.
“We’re supposed to be doing this together. And what do you do? You go off and turn them into ash before I even get the chance to join in!”
She threw her hands up in the air, frustratedly sighing.
“I just thought—”
Alex began, but Mira wasn’t having any of it.
“No, no, you didn’t think!”
She interrupted, stepping even closer, jabbing her finger into his chest.
“You never think, Alex. You just act. It’s always ‘slash’ this, ‘burn’ that, and ‘kill’ without a single thought about what I might wanna do!”
Her voice dropped slightly, and she glared at him with a look that could have turned the remaining ashes of the Red Demons into ice.
“I like killing them too, you know!”
Alex took a step back and raised his hands in mock surrender.
“Alright, alright. I get it. I should’ve let you get a few in.”
He offered her a soft, apologetic smile, but Mira’s eyes narrowed further.
“A few?”
She repeated.
“Okay, half!”
Alex repented for real this time.
What else was a man supposed to do when his wife scolded him…

In another shattered city on Eldaris, jagged ruins stretched out as far as the eye could see.
Unlike the obliterated remains of Threshal’s camp, this place was alive with activity — well, if one could consider the twisted, bustling horde of the Red Demons ‘alive’.
Camps of various sizes were strewn across what had once been a thriving metropolis, their crude fortifications encroaching upon toppled skyscrapers and crumbling roads.
Towering watchtowers built from the charred remains of human structures loomed ominously over the scene, manned by vigilant sentries.
In the heart of this chaotic encampment was a massive tent, tattered with the sigil of a high ranking Red Demon.
Dozens of Red Demons milled about outside, but none dared to enter uninvited.
The tent’s interior was reserved for those in power, those whose strength or cunning had elevated them above the rest.
And at the head of it sat a powerful Red Demon prodigy…
But now, the air inside was thick with tension and unease.
A hulking Red Demon with his face set in a permanent scowl paced back and forth inside the tent.
The hulking brute’s eyes blazed with impatience as he snarled at his attendants.
Suddenly, a smaller Red Demon, panting heavily and covered in a sheen of sweat, barged into the tent.
His eyes were wide with panic, and his breath came in ragged gasps as he stumbled forward, clutching his chest as if trying to steady his heart.
“General Kazar!”
The demon cried out, barely able to get his words out.
“I— I have urgent news! It’s—”
Kazar turned with a snarl, his massive form radiating menace.
“What is it, worm?”
He growled in a deep, rumbling baritone that reverberated through the entire tent, and even outside.
The messenger flinched under the weight of Kazar’s gaze but forced himself to speak.
“Th- Threshal’s life signal… it— it’s gone!”
He blurted out, trembling in fear as he spoke.
“His beacon went dark just moments ago. No sign of life… nothing!”
For a moment, silence fell over the tent, so heavy that the messenger demon could start to feel his lungs collapsing.
