Chapter 423: A few days
Mira flicked the blood off her blade with a quick motion and sheathed it.
She let out a small breath as the battlefield returned to an eerie silence…
Until it was no longer silent…
Clap! Clap! Clap!
She heard Alex clapping and then his subsequent question, with a hint of clear curiosity and amusement in his tone.
Mira brushed a strand of hair aside from her face, her expression remaining unphased as she glanced at Red Demon commander’s corpse from the corner of her eye.
“Ahhh, that was satisfying.”
She let out a relieved sigh and smiled, but Alex still pressed her.
“You didn’t answer my question.”
This time Mira peeked at Alex from the corner of her eye.
“That? First time I’ve tested it.”
Alex raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued.
“First time? You really are just full of surprises, aren’t you?”
Mira shrugged and shifted her gaze upward, ignoring Alex’s teasing.
Something had caught her attention now that she was no longer preoccupied with killing.
High above, in the clear sky, she noticed the faint glint of metal, but most importantly, her spatial perception had picked up the presence of the drone again.
Her eyes narrowed, immediately recognising it as the same one that was watching them and had blown their cover when they approached the outpost.
It had clearly been spying on them the whole time, capturing everything Mira had just done.
‘It seems we have an audience…’
She thought to herself.
Originally, they thought it was just a drone operated by one of the Red Demons in the outpost itself, but it seemed that was not the case, since it was still operational and watching their every movement.
As soon as the drone, or rather the operator in charge of it, realised that it had been spotted, it jerked in mid air and suddenly shot off, moving with speeds not even Alex could reach.
Unlike last time, the drone seemed to have learned from its previous mistakes.
Instead of fleeing in a straight line, it darted in unpredictable directions, zigzagging and veering sharply, trying to throw off any potential pursuit.
It flew hundreds of Kilometres in mere moments, and it was long out of Mira’s range of perception before she could pinpoint its direction..
She tried stretching her senses as far as they could go, but the drone was just too fast for her to keep up.
She clicked her tongue in frustration when it fully disappeared.
“They’re smarter than I gave them credit for.”
She muttered.
Alex followed her gaze, but couldn’t find anything even with his superior senses.

“Things are just becoming trickier and trickier, it seems. For all we know every Red Demon in the Telorn system could know of our presence here now.”
Mira frowned as she realised this fact after letting the drone slip through her hands like that.
But she realised that even if she captured it, it was most definitely providing a live feed to whoever was operating it, so they would know of their presence regardless.
Mira stood there for a moment, staring at the horizon where the drone had vanished.
She hated loose ends — especially ones that could blow up in their faces later on.
But Alex’s voice chimed in.
“Look, we were going to get found out sooner or later, right?”
Mira turned to him, her frown deepening.
“Earlier than we would have liked, though.”
But still, Alex didn’t seem as bothered by it as she did.
He shrugged with an easy going grin that didn’t fade even in the face of this news.
“True, but did we really think we’d stay hidden for long? We plan on killing every last Red Demon in this system before we leave. We aren’t exactly aiming for subtlety here…”
Mira let out a frustrated sigh, but knew Alex had a point.
From the moment they landed back on Eldaris and realised what kind of fucked up situation they were in, their one goal had been clear: revenge.
Stealth was never Alex’s strong suit anyway, despite the fact that it was Mira’s strong suit, since she had a whole other dimension she could hide in to sneakily assassinate enemies if the need arose to do that.
With two completely contrasting fighting styles, it was clear that they would have to adhere to one of them over the other.
“I just wanted more time. Now that they know we’re here, they’ll have time to prepare and our future fights from this point on will likely be much harder than the first two.”

Over the next few days, Alex and Mira unleashed a relentless campaign of destruction across Eldaris.
After the drone incident, they didn’t bother with any grand strategies or plans. Instead, they chose a simple and chaotic approach — wandering in whichever direction they felt like each morning, and annihilating every Red Demon settlement they encountered along the way.
In actuality, it was probably a better plan than their original one.
After all, if not even they could predict where they would be moving, how on earth were the Red Demons supposed to?
In total, over the last three days, they had destroyed over a dozen more settlements, taking their total now up to 14.
The settlements they came across were of varying sizes each time, with the largest numbering over 50,000 Red Demons, however the majority of the Red Demons in each one of them were weaklings, either low ranked awakened or not awakened at all.
They were all easily wiped out.
There were some stronger Red Demons in some of the camps they had come across though, but they were never strong enough to actually make a difference.
They were all killed effortlessly regardless of whether they were an elite C tier awakened, or even the one B tier Mutant class awakened they had come across hidden away in one encampment.
Alex and Mira split them up pretty evenly, and overall if the two of them had to guess, they had probably killed over 200,000 Red Demons in the last three days alone.
For Alex, that meant a hell of a lot of Soul orbs began to flood into his inventory…
