Chapter 424: Demon headquarters
The dust settled on the remains of yet another Red Demon settlement, Alex stood amidst what remained with an unreadable expression as yet another barrage of soul orb after soul orb.
By now he had gotten accustomed to the constant influx of soul orbs every time he exterminated a huge number of Red Demons — immune to the endless sea of them that now sat in his inventory.
Seeing so many of them, he was almost losing his concept of the reality that they were one of the most valuable resources in the universe…

The duo advanced through the wilderness of Eldaris for a few more days, leaving a constant reminder of destruction and wrath in their wake.
By now, the entire planet was aware of their presence there, but all the Red Demons who occupied it were helpless to deal with them.
Because they were just too strong…
It was only after seeing how he could trample over every Red Demon he came across like they were insects that Alex realised why such a powerful and mysterious entity like the System had judged his Soulforge talent to be the strongest.
Even now, he was just barely scratching the surface of the full potential of his talent.
Just imagining how much more powerful it could make him in the future, when his talent had even more layers unlocked made his heart pound.
Along their destructive journey across Eldaris, they encountered several more enemies.
All of them were Red Demons, obviously, but the duo had noticed something after dealing with more and more settlements.
The settlements they were coming across grew smaller in population each time, but this decrease in population was made up for in the fact that a higher number of stronger Red Demons now occupied them.
Before, they would be lucky if they even came across 1 C tier Red Demon in a day, that was considerably low since they killed probably near 100,000 Red Demons per day.
1 in 100,000 was not a good ratio at all.
But now, they were encountering more and more C tier Red Demons with every settlement they came across.
Instead of 1 in 100,000, it was more like 1 in 100…
The difference was very easy to notice when the days were as boring as Alex and Mira’s when they had some down time from all the killing.
At first, the duo thought this was occurring because the Red Demons had started evacuating the weaker Red Demons to other, more secure areas, or just taking them out of the planet entirely.
But after doing a little investigating, they found this wasn’t the case.
Instead, it seemed that they were actually nearing an area of greater importance for the Red Demon race.
There were greater patrols, a smaller ratio of C tier to lower ranked Red Demons, and the distance between each settlement shrank with each one they came across.
If they were right in their predictions, then they might finally encounter the highest authority on Eldaris in charge of the rest of the Red Demons on the surface.
With this being the case, the duo’s motivation increased and their willingness to kill only grew.
Their speed increased, and they went from finding around 8-10 settlements a day, to finding 12-14 settlements a day thanks to this.
Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how one (Alex) may look at it, they didn’t cross any awakened they deemed powerful during this journey.

“It’s only a short distance from here.”
Alex paused his steps for a moment and surveyed the surroundings using his spatial perception.
“I think that last settlement was the final one in this path. Up ahead there seems to be a huge settlement, at least the size of 20 of the smaller ones combined… I wouldn’t be surprised if there were over a million Red Demons in that place alone. I can feel an insane number of life signatures!”

Mira looked at him with peculiar eyes and then looked back at the horizon in front of them.
“Looks like we’ve finally found their main headquarters on this planet then!”
Rumble!
However, just as Mira spoke, the ground beneath them started to shake fiercely as if a very high magnitude earthquake suddenly happened.
“Woah!”
Mira cried out as she was taken by surprise and almost fell.
It was intense enough to even destabilise Mira a little, which only spoke of its power.
Alex’s face changed slightly as he narrowed his eyes while looking ahead.
His gaze focused on the direction he could feel the city sized Red Demon settlement.
Right as they travelled close enough to detect the main Red Demon headquarters, an earthquake just happened to take place… that was no coincidence.
Alex sneered as he sensed what was going on up ahead.
In fact, it wasn’t just Alex who thought this was no coincidence, as even Mira’s face was scrunched up in dissatisfaction after she had stabilised herself.
Her spatial perception didn’t have enough range to detect what was going on, but Alex’s was.
“They’re trying to take off. The huge settlement wasn’t a settlement at all, but a huge ship.”
Alex paused as he assessed the situation underneath the huge spaceship that was taking off.
“And they left a planet buster behind…”
His tone carried a grim weight when he uttered those final words.
Mira hadn’t encountered anything like a Planet buster before, like Alex had, but from the name alone she knew it was probably something catastrophic.
Something called a ‘Planet Buster’ clearly wasn’t used for good intentions after all…
Dust clouds rose into the sky as the massive Red Demon headquarters — or rather their escape vessel — was preparing to take off.
Mira cursed under her breath.
The Red Demons weren’t just evacuating — they were making sure nothing was left behind.
No witnesses, no planet.
“How much time do we have?”
She asked, bracing herself for the worst.
Alex exhaled a sharp breath as he momentarily decided what to say.
“I don’t know. But not long knowing the Red De—”
