Chapter 425: It all happened so suddenly…
Booooom!
Before Alex could even finish speaking, a deafening explosion rocked the ground beneath them, this time knocking both of them off their feet.
The shockwave rippled through the air, sending a cloud of dust and debris flying.
However that was just the start of it all.
The tremors that followed were even more violent than before, forcing both Alex and Mira to brace themselves
Mira instinctively crouched, tensing her body as she maintained her balance.
Her eyes dated to Alex, whose expression was even more grim than her own.
His look told her everything she needed to know — there was no time left, they were too late.
The planet buster had already activated.
“We have to move!”
Alex shouted, but even as the words left his mouth he could feel his anxiety and fear increasing.
The tremors beneath them weren’t just aftershocks — they were the planet itself unravelling.
Deep fissures opened in the ground, molten lava erupted from within them like the lifeblood of Eldaris itself was spilling out.
The air suddenly thickened with heat, and the oppressive force of planetary destruction bared down on them.
Mira’s own spatial perception took a particularly hard hit by this sudden cause of events, the spatial effect of a planet imploding was enough to completely throw any and every spatial ability that not only she had, but Alex had too.
They couldn’t teleport, and neither could they use their spatial perception at all now.
In the distance, the huge Red Demon ship finally took off, and left the planet’s atmosphere only a few moments later.
“Alex, we need to—”
But Mira’s voice was drowned out as another explosion rocked them off their feet.
This time, it felt like the very core of Eldaris was tearing itself apart.
The ground cracked open wider, and the two of them fell through, plummeting into the depths of the earth.
‘Shit!’
Alex was the first to react, trying desperately to claw onto the sides of the fissure they had fallen into, but their descent was just too fast and gravity became heavier the further they fell, pulling them even faster into the depths of Eldaris.
But no matter what he did, not even Virtue’s Edge could get a good enough grip in the rocks surrounding them, as the heat alone was slowly turning them into molten rock, and Virtue’s Edge couldn’t get a hold in any rock that had yet to liquefy.
“We’re not going to make it!”
Panic settled in Mira’s voice now as she came to the realisation that they were very likely to die.
Alex clenched his fists, coursing through his mind at light speed as he tried to think of something, anything that could possibly get them out of this situation.
There was no way to reverse what had already started, no way to stop the chain reaction that had been set off.
The planet’s destruction was inevitable.
But that didn’t mean they were going to go down with it.

“Hold on to me!”
Alex yelled at the top of his lungs.
The air down there was so hot and thick that sound could barely travel to it, and the two of them, despite their incredibly strong hearing, had to shout at each other just to hear more than a whisper.
Mira didn’t hesitate as she grabbed onto Alex’s arm, trusting his instincts implicitly.
She hugged him closely, closing her eyes as tears started to well up.
“We’re going to die…”
She murmured, being close enough to Alex that he could hear her despite the fact she didn’t shout it.
“No we’re not!”
Alex suddenly activated every ounce of power he had to try and overcome the incredible spatial lock that was surrounding their very being thanks to the planet’s destruction’s incredible effect on the space it occupied.
He wasn’t going to stop the detonation.
He didn’t have the power to.
But there was only one thing on his mind right now that he tried to access with every ounce of his power.
His spatial storage.
Thanks to the spatial lock, he wasn’t able to access that either, but he was trying with every ounce of power he had right now to try and change that.
There was just one thing in there, one item that could even give them a remote chance of surviving this ordeal.
His ship.
If he could just access his spatial storage and summon it out…
With a guttural roar, Alex unleashed everything he had at full force, resisting against the forces that stopped him from using any sort of spatial ability.
The space around them warped and twisted even harder, like the planet was sentient and realised what he was trying to do and did its best to stop him.
However…
He was failing.
His will was breaking, and the pressure around them was just becoming too much for even him to handle.
‘Fuck…’
‘We really might die here…’
Tap!
He felt a light tap on his shoulder from Mira, and he hugged her just as tightly as she did him.
Crackle…
Rumble…
But just as he had all but given up, he felt a sudden surge of energy enter his body.
He looked over in shock at Mira as he found her, smiling with her golden hair and irises with the purest form of love he had ever seen in her eyes.
He knew it.
He knew what she was doing.
She was feeding him her own energy, but Alex felt his heart squeeze when he saw the strain it was taking on her.
Her skin quickly started to turn white, every ounce of colour being drained from her.
After a few moments passed, her skin had become flaky, and Mira looked like she had aged a hundred years.
She had become so incredibly skinny that her bones were clearly visible, and even some of her failing organs became clearly outlined under her skin.
“Mira no! What are you doing!”
Alex looked so incredibly panicked and broken at this scene.
She hadn’t just fed him her energy.
Her own life force was mixed in as well…
But he was so focused on what she had just done for him that he hadn’t noticed that it had worked.
His ship appeared around them, with the chaos and constant noise of the planet exploding around them suddenly disappearing, replaced by the weak breaths Mira let out.
“Mira….”
Alex looked distraught and lost, tears already flowing from his eyes as he looked down at her as she fell in his arms, struggling to even keep herself up.
“Why…”
