Chapter 445: Stabilising
Alex took one last look at the black sphere before turning on his heel, surveying the carnage he had left behind.
The bodies of Red Demons littered the ground, their twisted forms still clutching at the weapons they never had the chance to use against him. His eyes flickered across the chamber, seeking any trace of the Celestial Orbs.
“I’ve got to find them before it’s too late.”
He muttered under his breath.
The planet’s voice hummed in the background, still heavy with pain but quieter now.
It seemed to be waiting, unsure whether to trust him fully, but for the moment, it wasn’t hostile. Alex knew it wouldn’t stay that way forever.
He scanned the cavern, his eyes finally landing on a section at the far end where crude mining tools and equipment were scattered haphazardly.
Crates and storage containers sat piled around a deep trench where the Demons had been cutting into the planet’s core.
‘If they were storing anything, it’s got to be there.’
He thought, making his way toward the pile of supplies.
As he approached, his eyes caught a faint, flickering light coming from one of the crates. He hurried to it, lifting the heavy lid to reveal a small collection of shimmering, pulsating orbs.
The Celestial Orbs.
They were no bigger than his fist, but each one radiated a strange, ethereal energy that seemed almost alive.
As Alex reached out, his hand hovered over the orbs, feeling the immense power contained within them.
These were fragments of the planet’s very soul—stolen pieces that had left it broken and vulnerable.
“You found them…”
The planet’s voice echoed, sounding both relieved and desperate.
“Return them to me… and restore what was lost.”
Alex paused for a moment, the reality of the task settling on his shoulders. There was no manual for how to return a planet’s soul, no guidebook for fixing something on this scale. But he’d come too far to hesitate now.
Grabbing one of the orbs, Alex stood and moved back toward the black sphere.
He held the Celestial Orb in front of him, feeling the planet’s energy reaching out, pulling at the orb like a magnet.
“I hope this works…”
He muttered, pressing the orb toward one of the cracks in the sphere’s surface.
The moment the orb touched the black mass, a pulse of energy rippled through the entire cavern.
The sphere glowed faintly as it absorbed the orb, the red hue within it dimming slightly as though some of its pain had been alleviated.
The planet urged, its voice softer now, but still tinged with desperation.
Alex didn’t waste any time. He returned to the crate and retrieved the remaining orbs, bringing them back to the sphere one by one.
Each time, the planet absorbed the fragments, the glowing cracks slowly knitting themselves together as its energy stabilised.
As he returned the last of the Celestial Orbs, the black sphere pulsed with a deep, resonant hum, the once-ominous energy now more serene.

The red glow had faded, replaced by a soft, steady light.
“I… feel whole once more…”
The planet’s voice rumbled, this time with a tone of gratitude rather than hostility.
“You have done what the others would not. You have restored my soul.”
Alex stood back, watching as the final remnants of the damage the Red Demons had inflicted began to disappear.
The black sphere, now stable, no longer radiated the same threatening energy.
It felt… peaceful.
“So, we’re good now?”
Alex asked, half-joking, though part of him still expected the planet to lash out again.
The planet was silent for a moment before responding, its tone now much gentler.
“You have proven yourself, mortal. I no longer see you as my enemy.”
Alex exhaled, the tension in his body finally releasing. He hadn’t been sure how this would end, but it seemed, for now, that the danger had passed.
“Good.”
Alex muttered.
“Because fighting a planet wasn’t exactly on my list of things to do today.”
The cavern was quiet now, the oppressive atmosphere lifted.
But Alex knew he wasn’t quite finished yet.
There was still the question of whether the Red Demons had managed to transport any of the Celestial Orbs off-world before he got here.
If they had, the planet would remain incomplete, and who knew what kind of consequences that could have.
However, there was one simple way to confirm this.
By asking the planet itself!
Alex stood before the now-stable black sphere, relieved but still on edge. The atmosphere in the cavern had calmed, but he wasn’t out of the woods yet.
There was still the nagging question of whether all the Celestial Orbs—the planet’s soul fragments—were accounted for.
He glanced at the sphere, the faint glow now soft and steady, a far cry from the ominous energy it had radiated before.
He hesitated for a moment, then decided to go straight to the source.
“So… do you know if any of your fragments, these Celestial Orbs, were taken out of this cave? Maybe even off-world?”
The planet was silent for a beat, as if contemplating the question.
When it finally responded, its voice was clearer, no longer clouded with confusion and pain.
“No.”
The planet rumbled softly.
“None of my soul fragments have left my body. They are still here, on me, but… some have been hidden away. The Red Demons, in their greed, sought to stockpile my essence, keeping it for themselves.”
Alex let out a small breath of relief.
That was good news. If the orbs hadn’t been transported off-world, then the task ahead of him was still manageable.
“Alright, so where are they?”
Alex asked, getting straight to the point.
“If they’re still here, I need to gather them up and return them to you.”
The planet pulsed slightly, the faint glow within the sphere brightening.
“I can feel them, still a part of me… though scattered. I will guide you to where they are hidden.”
There was a pause, and then the planet began to speak again, its voice echoing through the cavern as it described the locations of the remaining orbs.
“They are scattered all over me, in five different and difficult to get to locations for a mortal like yourself.”
