Chapter 451: Donald
“This is something else. They evacuated. They abandoned the system.”
Mira stared at him in disbelief.
“You’re telling me these Red Demons—ruthless, bloodthirsty monsters—just… ran away?”
Her voice dripped with scepticism, but she knew Alex wasn’t the type to make empty assumptions.
“Yeah, I guess so.”
She muttered, her tone deflating as she tried to process it.
An awkward silence hung between them, both of them still trying to wrap their minds around the sheer strangeness of the situation.
Mira glanced back at the emptiness of the star system, her brow furrowing in confusion.
Then, after a long pause, she scoffed lightly, a strange mix of amusement and disbelief crossing her face.
“Doesn’t that mean we technically took this whole system back with just the two of us then?”
She asked, her tone light but with an edge of bitterness.
Alex’s lips pressed into a thin line, and he nodded.
“Yeah… I guess it does.”
Mira let out a low chuckle, shaking her head.
“Unbelievable. No reinforcements, no backup, just the two of us, and we scare off an entire army. I didn’t even get to test this new power of mine.”
Technically, it was Alex that did the most of the work, but for the sake of keeping her happy, he would just silently agree with her…
As Mira and Alex stood on the bridge, processing the strange victory they had just achieved over the vacant Telorn system, the comm console emitted a sharp beep.
Both of them turned toward it in unison. The indicator light blinked, signalling an incoming transmission.
But there was something off.
“Blocked ID.”
Alex muttered, frowning at the console.
Mira glanced at it and immediately shrugged.
“Weird. Could be anyone. Let’s ignore it.”
Alex, however, stared at the screen with a deepening suspicion.
He knew that very few people had access to his private galactic net ID.
Whoever was on the other end had gone through significant lengths to reach him.
That alone made his curiosity itch.
“We’re not ignoring this.”
Alex said, his fingers hovering over the controls.
“This could be important.”

“Or it could be a trap.”
Mira said, her tone warning.
“Or worse, a scam caller…”
“Only one way to find out.”
Alex replied.
He tapped the screen, opening the comm channel.
The holographic projector flickered to life, displaying a faint blue outline of a man’s face.
As the image solidified, Alex squinted.
There was something familiar about the man. He had a sharp jawline, short black hair, and cold, calculating eyes.
But despite this nagging sense of recognition, Alex couldn’t place him.
The man on the screen smirked slightly, leaning forward.
“I feel like I’ve seen this guy somewhere.”
Alex whispered to himself, confused.
The man’s presence sent a strange ripple through his memory, but nothing clear surfaced.
“You won’t know me.”
The man said smoothly, his voice even and composed.
“But my name’s Donald. I’ve come to you with a proposition. How about we meet?”
Mira raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms as she exchanged a glance with Alex.
“Donald? Really? He doesn’t seem like a ‘Donald’.” she muttered under her breath.
Alex ignored her comment, his gaze fixed on the man, trying to decipher what he wasn’t saying.
There was something off about this whole thing—the sudden communication, the blocked ID, the way Donald spoke as if he had the upper hand.
But most of all, there was the man’s face. Why did it feel so familiar?
“What kind of proposition are we talking about?”
Alex asked, keeping his tone neutral.
Donald’s smirk widened just slightly.
“Not the kind you’ll want to refuse, I assure you. But it’s something best discussed in person. Telorn is empty now, isn’t it? Why don’t we meet at the edge of the system? Neutral ground.”
Mira scoffed, clearly not buying any of it.
“Yeah, no thanks.”
She said, stepping closer to the comm console.
“We don’t do shady, vague meetings in abandoned systems with strangers, Donald.”
Donald didn’t react to her words, his eyes still locked on Alex.
“I didn’t think you would. But believe me, Alex, you’re going to want to hear what I have to say. I know more about the Red Demons than you do, and if you want to know what made them leave Telorn… I’m your best shot at finding out.”
That got Alex’s attention.
His instincts screamed not to trust this man, but the mention of the Red Demons piqued his curiosity even further.
After all, they had no leads, no information about why the Red Demons had abandoned such a fortified system.
“How do I know this isn’t a setup?”
Alex asked cautiously.
“You don’t.”
Donald replied, his smirk fading as his expression turned serious.
“But I have no reason to harm you. I’m offering you something valuable: knowledge. What you do with it afterward is entirely up to you. I can meet you alone, or we can part ways right now. Your call.”
Mira looked at Alex, clearly irritated.
“Alex, this screams trap. He’s too slick, too smooth. You can’t seriously be considering this.”
Alex was silent for a moment, weighing the risks.
Whoever this Donald was, he had gone to great lengths to contact him, and Alex knew from experience that those who went to such lengths either had something valuable to offer—or something to gain.
He also couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to this Donald than met the eye.
Donald, seeing the conflict in Alex’s face, spoke again.
“I’ll make it easier for you. I’ll come to you, here, in Telorn. No tricks, no hidden fleets. Just a conversation. And if you don’t like what I have to say, you can walk away. No harm done.”
Alex let out a slow breath, nodding slightly.
“Alright, Donald. We’ll meet. But you’re coming alone. And if you try anything—”
“You’ll have every right to end me where I stand.”
Donald finished, his smirk returning.
“I wouldn’t expect anything less from you, Alex.”
The transmission cut off abruptly, leaving the bridge in a tense silence.
Mira threw her hands up, frustration boiling over.
“This is a terrible idea. You can’t trust him. He’s too confident. And since when does anyone give out answers for free?”
Alex glanced at her, his expression thoughtful.
“He’s not giving them for free. He wants something, and I want to know what it is. Besides… he mentioned the Red Demons. If he knows what happened here, we need that information.”
Mira huffed and crossed her arms.
“Fine. But if this goes south, don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
