Chapter 452: Scheme
The screen flickered off, and in the silence of the empty star system, Alex stood deep in thought while Mira paced behind him, her agitation barely contained.

Meanwhile, across the void of space, in a sleek, shadowed control room aboard a ship hidden just outside Telorn’s system, Donald leaned back in his chair with a self-satisfied smirk.
The transmission from his ship to Alex’s was complete.
His plan had worked perfectly.
Donald tapped a sequence of commands into his terminal, initiating a secure connection to another ship.
Within moments, a holographic display shimmered into existence before him, revealing the unmistakable figure of a Red Demon.
Clad in their ominous red and black armour, the Demon’s face was mostly obscured, save for glowing crimson eyes that pierced through the darkness of his helmet.
“Report.”
The Red Demon’s voice came through, low and gravelly, as if each word were dragged from the depths of a nightmare.
Donald’s smirk widened, disregarding the Red Demon’s almost disrespectful tone.
“Alex has taken the bait.”
He said smoothly, his tone dripping with satisfaction.
“He thinks I’m here to offer him information about why your forces abandoned Telorn. I’ve set up a meeting with him on neutral ground. He’ll come, and when he does, we’ll be ready.”
The Red Demon leaned closer to the projection, his fiery gaze narrowing.
“Good. We’ve waited long enough for this. He won’t know what hit him. But make sure there are no mistakes, Donald.”
Donald nodded, his expression unwavering, though a flicker of annoyance crossed his eyes at being treated like he was some sort of rookie.
“You’ll get him. Everything’s in place. And once we have Alex, the rest will fall like dominoes. He’s the key to everything, after all.”
The Red Demon’s eyes blazed brighter for a moment, as if considering something deeper.
“And what of the girl? Mira?”
Donald’s smirk faded slightly.
“She’s a wild card. Powerful, but volatile. If she becomes a threat, we can deal with her easily enough. But Alex… he’s the one you want. He’s the one I’ve been sent to lure. Besides, I’m an S tier, what could they ever do to me?”
The Red Demon tilted his head, as though processing Donald’s words.
“Do not underestimate her. If the Overseers have taken an interest in Alex, then they know something we don’t. We follow orders, but we need to ensure neither of them escapes. Do whatever it takes. When the time comes, I’ll be there to finish it.”
Donald leaned back in his chair again, relaxing slightly.
“Understood. You’ll have both of them soon enough. Alex’s curiosity will bring him right to me. And then… we’ll see just how much power he really holds.”
The transmission cut out, leaving Donald alone once again in the dim light of his ship. His smirk returned, and he tapped his fingers against the armrest of his chair, deep in thought.
‘Alex doesn’t realise what’s coming’
He mused to himself.
‘He’s walked right into my trap, and by the time he figures it out, it’ll be too late.’

The Red Demons had a plan, and Donald was just one piece of it.
But he had his own ambitions—ambitions that stretched far beyond what the Red Demons or even the Overseers could imagine.
Alex and Mira were just the first steps.
He needed to win their trust long enough to deliver them where they needed to go.
After that, well… his plans would take on a life of their own.
Donald leaned forward, activating his ship’s engines and preparing to move into position.
Soon, he would meet Alex in person, and then the real game would begin.
Donald’s ship glided silently through the vast emptiness of space, its engines barely making a sound as it drifted toward the agreed-upon meeting point.
The darkness outside the vessel was almost suffocating, the Telorn system eerily quiet after the sudden retreat of the Red Demons.
He knew Alex would be arriving soon, his curiosity pulling him closer like a moth to a flame.
But Donald wasn’t one to wait idly.
He activated the ship’s internal communications system, bringing up a tactical display of the surrounding area.
‘Everything is under control’
Donald thought confidently, leaning back in his chair.
‘I’ve got them cornered.’
He couldn’t deny the thrill coursing through him.
Being an S-tier, he rarely had to worry about challenges; few could match his abilities.
But this was different.
Alex was more than just some random target—he was someone who had intrigued the Overseers.
That meant he was worth far more than his reputation let on, and Donald was determined to figure out why.
A soft beep from his console broke the silence, signalling the arrival of Alex’s ship.
Donald’s smirk returned as he watched the sleek Federation vessel drop out of hyperspace, right on time.
He activated the communication system, opening a channel to Alex.
“Glad to see you made it, Alex.”
Donald’s voice came through with a false warmth.
“I was beginning to wonder if you’d have second thoughts.”
Inside the cockpit of Alex’s ship, he exchanged a glance with Mira, who remained stiffly seated beside him, her eyes narrowed with suspicion.
“Still think this is a bad idea?”
Alex asked, his hands gripping the controls.
Mira sighed.
“Absolutely. But we’re already here. Let’s get this over with.”
Alex tapped a control, responding to Donald.
“No second thoughts. We’re here, just as agreed. Where are you?”
“Right in front of you.”
Donald’s voice crackled through the comms.
“I’ll lower my shields, and you can dock. Then we’ll talk.”
As the shields of Donald’s ship flickered off, Alex navigated toward the docking bay, still uneasy but determined.
Mira watched the approach in silence, her hand instinctively hovering near her sidearm, ready for anything.
Within minutes, the docking sequence completed, and the airlock hissed open.
Alex and Mira stepped cautiously into the narrow corridor of Donald’s ship, the dim lighting casting long shadows across the metallic floor.
The eerie silence of the vessel heightened their tension.
Donald waited for them at the far end, standing casually with his arms crossed, his smirk never fading.
“Welcome aboard.”
