Chapter 474: Garmis
The thug doubled over, wheezing as the wind was knocked from his lungs.
But as he attempted to breathe, it quickly became clear that his lungs were in no state to take in any air!
Because they had been completely shredded by Alex’s one punch!
It would only be a matter of time before he suffocated to death if he didn’t receive help soon.
Of course, who would help him though?
Nobody.
His companions fumbled with their weapons, but Alex was already moving, weaving through them with precise, brutal efficiency.
One by one, he took them down — disarming them, breaking bones, leaving them in crumpled heaps on the ground.
Mira watched with a mix of amusement and boredom as Alex dismantled the gang, each move calculated, every strike effortlessly delivered.
When the last thug hit the ground, Alex straightened, glancing at Mira with a faint smirk.
“Satisfied?”
She shrugged, a playful glint in her eye.
“I’d give it an eight out of ten. Bit flashy, but effective.”
They continued deeper into the industrial zone, leaving the thugs groaning and immobilized on the ground.
As they moved, Mira pulled up a holo-map of the area on her communicator, marking several hotspots where the criminal presence was most concentrated.
The two of them were so unbothered that they hadn’t even bothered donning their armours yet.
One might argue that they were missing out on accumulating some energy for the armour’s innate skill Destruction, but only one thing had to be asked about that.
Would these lowlifes even be able to deal enough damage for it to matter?
Most likely not.
“There.”
Mira pointed to a building that blinked red on the map — a fortified warehouse that, according to the readings she was looking at, served as the base of operations for one of the planet’s major gangs.
“The so called ‘Iron Vultures'”
Mira explained.
“Mostly lowlifes, but they’re ruthless. They’re known for scavenging the aftermath of battles, picking through corpses for anything valuable. And they’re expanding fast, taking over other gangs and territories.”
Alex nodded, considering the approach.
“Let’s get to it. Remember, this isn’t like a normal war with the Red Demons, taking out their leadership first will do jack shit. These criminals don’t give a single damn about hierarchy, only the loot they can earn by teaming up with other likeminded people. Their morale won’t even take a hit if they see their ‘leaders’ fall.”

The Iron Vultures’ base was surrounded by makeshift barricades and littered with armed guards.
The building itself was a hulking mass of reinforced metal, with narrow windows and fortified doors.
As they approached, they ducked behind a stack of crates, surveying the scene.

It was unnecessary, considering they had their spatial perceptions to tell them practically everything there was to know about the place, but they may as well have some fun to lighten the mood a little!
Mira tapped Alex on the shoulder, nodding towards a tall figure pacing on an elevated platform near the entrance.
“There’s your guy.”
She whispered.
“Garmis the Red. One of the Vulture’s three leaders, known for his… let’s say ‘creative’ methods of interrogation. That man enjoys pain a little too much.”
Alex looked at Mira with a little bit of surprise and confusion.
“Why do you know so much about these guys?”
Mira just blinked, gesturing to her communicator that still flashed red with the map of the building.
“The net is still up and running in this system. And word spreads pretty fast when billions of people are all under the same threat.”
Alex just nodded in recognition and let Mira continue.
Garmis was an imposing figure, clad in black armour adorned with spikes and an assortment of scavenged trophies.
His face was scarred, a permanent sneer etched into his features.
He carried a massive energy weapon strapped to his back, and a dozen or so lackeys surrounded him, each one watching their perimeter with deadly focus.
Mira glanced at Alex, a grin spreading across her face.
“Think he’ll be as easy to take down as the last bunch?”
Alex looked ahead as he scanned Garmis with his spatial perception.
‘B- rank… He’s the first higher lifeform I’ve seen among these lowlife scum.’
“No. But I don’t intend to give him the chance to fight fair.”
They waited until one of the guards passed by, then slipped in, moving stealthily along the shadowed edges of the compound.
Mira took out a small, concealed blade from her spatial storage, flicking it at a nearby guard and dropping him without a sound.
She retrieved her blade and signalled to Alex, who was already two steps ahead, creeping up behind a pair of guards who were engrossed in conversation.
With swift, practiced movements, Alex incapacitated them, clearing the way towards Garmis.
The leader was still pacing, oblivious to the silent takedown of his guards.
‘He’s quite stupid for a higher life form…’
When they were within range, Alex raised his voice, letting it echo through the compound.
“Looks like some scum have taken over this area?”
Garmis stopped mid-stride, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the shadows.
To say he was surprised to see Alex here was an understatement.
“So the Federation’s prized traitor thinks he’s a hero now, huh?”
He laughed, an ugly sound that grated against the metal walls.
“Or maybe you’re just tired of running.”
“I don’t run.”
Alex replied coolly, stepping into the light.
“I clean up messes. And right now, you’re top of the list.”
Garmis smirked, motioning for his men to surround Alex.
“You think I’m scared of some disgraced soldier with a target on his back? You’re outnumbered. Outmatched.”
‘Did all these bozos forget what I first became famous for or something???’
Alex’s thoughts ran wild as he watched the gang of thug’s foolish attempt to intimidate, but he let them roll with it for now.
Behind him, Mira stepped forward, her own weapons drawn.
“Funny,” she said, her voice dripping with mock sympathy.
“Last time someone said that, they didn’t last ten seconds.”
With a signal, the Iron Vultures rushed forward, weapons drawn. Alex and Mira met them head-on.
