Chapter 495: Huge news
Principal Farnes sat at his seat around the Round table with a lax expression, which was a major contrast compared to how he looked a few days prior.
Although some of the other powerful S tiers around the table had fierce and motivated looks on their faces as they discussed the Federation’s current issues, Farnes looked unbothered.
He just wanted to relax for a little bit, even if it was just one day.
After all, they had just found out that their biggest enemy had lost, couldn’t they just take a break for once in a while? Did they really have to get straight to work on other stuff?
However, while he was thinking, Admiral Olgierd, who had stayed silent just as he did, but maintained his usual stoic look the whole time, suddenly stood up with a look of astonishment and excitement.
It was like his youthful spirit from when he was a child had suddenly all returned to him at once.
“WHAT!?!?”
He shouted aloud, not caring for the reactions of the others around the table.
“What is it, old man? I haven’t seen you act this way since the times we fought in the Primordial Expanse together.”
Principal Farnes was the first to speak to him, with his interest piqued.
It was rare to see Olgierd like this, so he was very curious to see what had him so surprised.
“I’ve just received a report that our long range scanners have detected movement in the Andromeda galaxy!”
He shared the news aloud, but kept the others in suspense as he held back his next words.
‘Andromeda? Isn’t that where the Red Demons are from?’
‘Don’t tell me they’re gearing up for another invasion already…’
‘We’ve only just settled down after the recent victory… Can’t they just give us a break??’
The others immediately assumed the worst.
To their knowledge, the Red Demons in the invasion party had been wiped out, but they had no knowledge on what was going on back in their home galaxy.
After all, even with their technology, it still took a week to receive any signals from such a long distance, despite the fact they had faster than light communication speeds.
Millions of light years was still an incredibly long distance, after all.
Admiral Olgierd let the tension hang in the air for a moment, scanning the faces around the table. Even Farnes, with his usual composure, sat up slightly in his chair, his curiosity piqued.
Finally, Olgierd broke the silence.
“The Red Demons… they’ve been eradicated.”
The room erupted.
“WHAT!?”
“That’s impossible!”
“How could this be confirmed?”
Even Farnes couldn’t hide his surprise. “Explain, Olgierd. How can you possibly be sure of this?”
Olgierd raised a hand to quiet the commotion. “Our long-range scanners detected massive energy fluctuations in the Andromeda galaxy—residual energy signatures that match the profiles of large-scale cosmic battles. But here’s the kicker: the signals we’ve intercepted from Andromeda confirm it. The Red Demons are gone. Their fleets, their strongholds, even their command hierarchy—it’s as if someone or something has wiped them out entirely.”
The room went silent, the weight of his words sinking in.

Farnes leaned forward, his expression unusually serious. “If that’s true… then Andromeda is…”
“A galaxy without rulers,” Olgierd finished for him, a sly grin creeping onto his face.
The implications hit everyone at once.
Andromeda, the former heart of the Red Demon empire, was now a vast, unclaimed territory.
The thought of it — a galaxy brimming with resources, abandoned infrastructure, and untapped opportunities — was almost too good to be true. Their imaginations ran wild as they considered the possibilities that could come from this.
But Farnes was quick to temper the excitement with a dose of reality. “If we’ve detected this, it’s safe to assume others have as well. The Federation won’t be the only ones with their eyes on Andromeda.”
The others nodded at his words.
This was also one of the things that immediately came to their mind when they heard this.
The humans and the Red Demons weren’t the only sentient races in the universe, they knew this already through their very, very limited interactions with others.
Even though it was Alex that interacted with them, not the Federation themselves.
“That’s assuming they haven’t already started moving,” another chimed in.
Farnes sighed, rubbing his temples.
“So much for a well-earned break.”
Olgierd slammed his hand on the table, a rare show of emotion. “This isn’t the time to hesitate! We have a unique opportunity here. If we act fast, we can secure key territories before the others even know what’s happening. But if we wait, we’ll be fighting for scraps!”
The room buzzed with a mix of excitement and trepidation. Some members were clearly eager to take the initiative, while others worried about overextending the Federation’s resources so soon after the war.
Farnes, the voice of reason, raised his hand for silence.
“We need to move strategically, yes, Andromeda is ripe for the taking, yes, but we mustn’t rush in blindly. We don’t know who or what eradicated the Red Demons. For all we know, we could be walking into a trap — or into the jaws of a new enemy.”
‘Although I’m willing to bet it’s that same mysterious figure that did us the pleasure of eradicating them.’
“That’s why we should send scouts,” Olgierd proposed. “Small, elite teams to assess the situation, identify opportunities, and determine if there are any threats left. Once we have a clearer picture, we can launch a larger expedition.”
“No. If we act too cautiously, we can miss out on the real opportunities. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We can’t waste it by acting scared.” Farnes finally admitted.
Farnes ignored her jab. “We’ll assign our best to this mission. The future of the Federation may very well depend on what we find in Andromeda.”
As the meeting concluded, the room buzzed with a renewed sense of purpose.
Their previous thoughts of eradicating the other factions that were left over had almost been forgotten, but they were still a topic of interest.
After all, there was no doubt that the factions would be interested in this new opportunity as well.
The last thing the Federation wanted was a formidable power rising within their own ranks.
